Curriculum-Based Education School Programs
The Elman W. Campbell Museum offers heritage school programs for students in kindergarten, to grade 3 (during the school year). Students will learn about the theme through objects in our collections and engage in hands-on activities.

• Junior & Senior Kindergartens: Early Playtime in Historic Newmarket
• Grade 1: The Local Community and the Elman W. Campbell Museum
• Grade 2: Winter Celebrations in Victorian Newmarket (mid-November to December only)
• Grade 3: Early Settlers in Newmarket - Also available as an outreach.
• Grade 4/5: June is National Indigenous History Month. What are the three sisters? The grandfather teachings? See the diversity of Indigenous culture though the museum’s displays, collection of Indigenous artifacts, Metis reproduction artifacts and Inuit sculptures. Go on an adventure with our scavenger hunt and learn about trading while making a beaded bracelet. Admission by monetary donation.

Canada Day Open House
July 1 | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | All Ages | Parent/ guardian supervision required | FREE (monetary donations accepted).
Celebrate Canada Day with us! Central York Fire Services will be on site, have photo ops with the fire truck, free children’s temporary Canada Day tattoos, interactive tabletop activities and special displays.

FRIDAY ADULT SOCIAL BEES: OFFERED THE FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH FROM FEBRUARY TO NOVEMBER

Drop in and join us the first Friday of every month for an engaging morning of different theme-based traditional activities and mini museum pop-up displays. Get creative while socializing at the Elman W. Campbell Museum, come out and make new friends while learning a new project. We finish up the morning with coffee and chats! *Please note, our October session will be held in the afternoon.
Friday, July 7 | Pin Cushion Teacups | $5/ person
Today we get crafty upcycling teacups and turning them into vintage-inspired pin cushions. Bring in your own teacup from home or purchase one from our gift shop for an additional $5 each. Share your secrets to creating the perfect cup of tea. Museum staff will present a mini pop-up sewing display from the museum’s collection.
Friday, August 4| Bring and Brag | Free Back by popular demand we are hosting a summer Bring and Brag! Bring in a small, treasured heirloom from home and tell us about it! Museum staff will host a mini “What Is It?” display.

Summer Fun Days At The Museum

Have you ever wondered what it is like to work at a museum? Participants will learn why we have museums, what kinds of artifacts are collected, how to handle artifacts and finish off with a scavenger hunt to win a prize.

Make your own Dinosaur Terrarium, go on a dinosaur hunt and try dinosaur themed activities. Includes themed supplies.
Under the Sea Party | July 22 |

Celebrate summer as we dive in creating ocean creature crafts, go exploring with a scavenger hunt and have fun with under the sea themed activities.
Unicorn Day at the Museum |July 27 |

Make your own Unicorn Terrarium, go on a unicorn hunt and have fun trying unicorn themed activities. Includes themed supplies.
Camping Party | August 5 |
