Mubi is an online streaming service that offers independent and award-winning movies everyday. The movie database is an expertly curated selection of classic, cult, independent and international films from around the globe. The company needs a campaign idea to help attract more users to their service. My idea was to make typography-driven movie posters so that all great films sit on the same pedestal, no matter the popularity of the film. The result was a poster campaign and a new design for the website.

Oakville Ranch Winery’s brand is reinvented to convey the essence and spirit of the place where it is produced. The existing wine brand came with a conventional and inconsistent visual system that would be lost in today’s competitive retail wine landscape. The new wine labels are inspired by the land and the mountains that surround the vineyards. It is a place of dramatic beauty and dedication to organic farming which makes it sensible to put it as part of the design. The typography was chosen by looking for a playful and legible font with a lot of personality.

Fillmore Social Club is a Korean-fusion restaurant located in the heart of Fillmore neighborhood. This welcoming bar and kitchen serve various Korean snacks, Asianfusion combos, and playful cocktails. This is a collaborative project with Andreas Pranoto to redesign identity system for Fillmore Social Club. We were intrigued by the possibilities of what the brand could have become if they were to position themselves with the current market trends. The visual language was set to be modern and welcoming.

Type-In is a type conference which is held as a tribute to the utilitarian beauty of typewriters. The concept is based on the Typewriter typeface. The book, Fixed-Width, uncovers how Monospaced Typefaces were born from the limitation of the mechanical typewriters. It looks at the past, current, and possible future of this typeface. The visual language of the book is a mix between the old and the new, between the mechanical and the digital. I used coding language throughout as a nod to the digital world.

Soundcloud has always been at the forefront of streaming music online. It is a home to multi-platinum recording artists, random kids recording beats in their bedroom, and everything in between. Noon SF Music Festival, held by Soundcloud, supports emerging artists and local music communities by giving them a platform to gain recognition. A playful identity was created for this festival. Developing a color palette that plays with primary colors, mixed with pastels, different graphic shapes, creates a voice for the brand. The placement of the letters of Noon draw a reference from the sun reaching the highest point above the horizon. With a simple but quirky design, the identity has a unique presence that has personable qualities.

Soile is a conceptual project for a possible plant shop. The shop offers a wide variety of rare, exotic plants, and floral arrangements. ‘House of Plants’ was chosen as the tagline to reflect the ethos of this shop. The idea behind Soile’s branding is to translate the leaves of the plants to a graphic form, to create an organic visual system. Bold silhouette shapes that represent the plant leaves were used across each of the brand assets. The logotype has been developed to reflect the flexibility and movement of a growing branch extending out to the heavens.

Casper is a New York-based mattress company. It uses science, design thinking and whimsy to make sleep products worth talking about. The company hopes to widen the market and introduce its latest products that promote a good night’s sleep. The goal is to create a visual identity for the packaging that is an extension of the current recognised Casper brand. Using shades of blue as seen on Casper mattresses cultivates a brand personality that’s calm and relaxed, denoting a good night’s sleep. Each packaged box includes a bath soak, a pillow spray, melatonin gummies, an aromatheraphy candle, and chamomile tea.

BART, or Bay Area Rapid Transit, is a train system that serves San Francisco and the East Bay. It carries more than 400,000 riders every weekday. It has become a huge part of the fabric of the San Francisco Bay Area. BART currently doesn’t have an official app. It powers hundreds of third party apps. What distinguishes this from the other third party applications is the real-time arrival information, designed in accordance with the color that appears on the map. Clipper cards can be used in the form of a QR Code, making it easier than its competitors. Frutiger typeface was used for emphasis and clarity, and pairs with the wayfinding and signage across the Bart Station.
