On the occasion of Charles Riley and Eric Fischl’s curated exhibition of 1980’s art (Nassau County Art museum – worth a visit), I barrowed from Charlie some notes from a dialogue between us in 1993. Charles had written a brilliant thesis on Roy Lichtenstein’s work to celebrate the opening of Roy’s retrospective exhibition at our museum, FAE Musée D’Art Contemporain. Having worked together on projects, mostly art related we hit on the idea of a dialogue. Heretofore, unpublished. Some parts seem relevant to today’s world, twenty–six years later.
