Georges Bizet’s show-stopping fiery opera of jealousy, lust, and life outside the dictates of society is boldly updated in this new production. With one hit melody after another – including the Habanera, Flower Aria and Toreador Song –Carmen has musical riches for all.

Director John Fulljames (Nixon in China 2020) sets the story amidst the unrest and upheavals of 1970s Spain, where an investigation into Carmen’s murder unfolds alongside the rollercoaster of events that lead to her death. With a new English translation, this is Carmen as you’ve never seen it before!

With acclaimed Lithuanian mezzo-soprano

Justina Gringytė in the title role and featuring four of Scottish Opera’s 22/23 Emerging Artists - Zoe Drummond, Lea Shaw, Osian Wyn Bowen and Colin Murray - don’t miss the chance to see the Company’s ingenious twist on this timeless masterpiece.

Sung in English with English supertitles.
