MWPAI Location: Utica, New York. Dimension: 11,800 .00 ft² Date: 2016
Munson and William Proctor Art Institute is an adaptive reuse project designed for the Fall Advanced Studio 2016 at RISD. The idea is to bring the museum to life by applying pioneering kinetic technologies to create an extraordinary, interactive experience between the museum, its visitors, environment and community. Procedures such as Telescoping, Triangulation, tension and compression and folding were applied to get to the final result.
Site Plan & Context The project is located in Utica, New York in one of the main street of the city, Genesee St. It is surrounded by classical architecture incluiding the original musuem from 1800s. The new building makes a big impact and contrast compared to the surroundings yet it does not have any connection with the exterior or community.

Section A-A The whole idea of creating a connection between the building and the community, exterior and interior guided the decision of applying a new material to the envelope: ETFE. The material would be able to be clear as glass, 300% lighter than glass making it easier to create kinetic architecture with it. South and West facades were intervene with this material to create passive solar gain.

JUDICIAL Location: San Pedro Sula Dimension: 7,500 m² Date: 2012
Judicial Court is a project from my junior year in college. The past Judicial Court of the city was destroyed and left in bad conditions because of an earthquake in 2009. The main concept was to create a new experience for the users and to be able to educate them through architecture what the building is about. Main Responsibilities 1. Design a new modern Judicial Court. 2. Interior space relation distribution. 3. Study and integrate architectural, plumbing and structural design. 4. Municipal Construction Rules 5. Circulation between: public users, service, attorneys and prisoners.
Site Plan & Context Located in the North East of San Pedro Sula, it was selected as the best lot to design the new Judicial Court. The terrain was selected based on a study depending on these terms: hierarchy, distance, security, traffic, highway and street maintenance. Surrounded by mostly houses, commercial plazas and production buildings, the terrain area is 5,700 m² but the project is a 7,500 m² building divided in 4 stories and 1 basement parking lot.

CAD Drawings One important detail when starting to design, was to make sure that all of the structural design would be able to work from the basement until the last floor including columns and beams. Another important point to design was the main entrance, the judges private entrance and the prisoners entrance, they had to be independent from one another. All of the spaces were designed using the North east strong winds for offices and courts spaces and the south east sides for stairs, prisoners areas and maintenance. This will reduce energy uses.

The main attraction of the building was the mesh created with different types of concepts that resembles and represents the moral values and services of the Judicial Court. This element is also working as a protection mesh due to the strong sunrays that come from the South and West side.

GREY-GREEN-BLUE Location: Newport, Rhode Island Date: 2017 Augmented and Virtual Reality Technology
The concept revolves around the idea to maintain the historic fabric of Point Neighbourhood by retaining the traditional houses and evolving only its surroundings to account for climatic changes. We have adopted a two sided approach to solve the problem- 1) Relieve the neighbourhood by constant flooding & 2) Attack the root of the problem i.e.Global warming by attempting to reduce carbon dioxide emissions generated by the locals. The concept relies on going back to the origins of Newport by “reviving the cove” as well as creating additional smaller coves/pockets adapting to a natural, healthier lifestyle and reconstructing its image as a “Port City” to create an extraordinary experience between the past and the future. Group members: Angelica Carvajales Sneha Mathreja Eder Romero
Site Plan & Context The project site is located at the Point Neighborhood in Newport, Rhode Island. Our main concentration was Bridge Street. The site characteristics were all about the architecture and historic preservation houses and structures. Bridge Street is were the lowest point and were the maximum damages of sea level rise occur in the city. A lot of 3D modeling and imagery was done to recreate this site for future use for Augmented and Virtual Reality.

Decrease the emission of Carbon Dioxide
Explorations & Concepts The project introduces incremental changes in the area by converting existing street infrastructure (Grey zones) into more permeable softscapes (Green belts) and introducing water pockets at crossovers and vacant plots, to allow for an increase in the water holding capacity of the streets. The Green belts on the streets and along the water's edge will hold recreational facilities such as cycling and pedestrian tracks, plantations and community spaces. Subsequently, the green zones/streets will gradually be turned into water canals (Blue Streets) to maximize the water holding capacity of the neighbourhood.

2050 - GREEN
2017 - GREY
The project introduces incremental changes in the area by converting existing street infrastructure (Grey zones) into more permeable softscapes (Green belts) and introducing water pockets at crossovers and vacant plots, to allow for an increase in the water holding capacity of the streets. The Green belts on the streets and along the water's edge will hold recreational facilities such as cycling and pedestrian tracks, plantations and community spaces. All of the proposals were created in a timeline between 20172025-2050-2100.
Renders 2025 In this timeline, streets evolve from grey/asphalt materials to become green streets that will create a sponge effect by absorbing water. In addition, they will become communal areas. Introduction of a cycle path will decrease the use of cars therefore will decrease the emission of carbon dioxide. Green spaces boost the quality of life of the community members. Specific plants and flowers were selected to be able to adapt to the needs.
2050 The area continues to evolves with a reuse process of the backyards of each house. Backyards become a kind of natural wetlands to serve as storage areas when flooding happens. In addition, more communcal spaces are added to give this spaces a multifunctional use. An example is an introduction of a Green House. This will help the communication between the neighbors and also a new way of thinking on how to get different types of food.
2100 The big project happens when sea level gets to its higher point. This is an incremental dike that starts since year 2025 and adapts depending on the needs of the situation. The idea is to have a protective dike that will make a connection with the past by bringing back old boat docks and create new experiences for the community for instance: a new walking/ cycling path.

FOOD
MUSEUM Location: Copenhagen, Denmark. Dimension: 75,000 ft² Date: 2016 Copnehagen, Denmark- DIS - Study Abroad Copenhagen is well known for it’s culinary art, a great example are Noma restaurant and Paper Island. The museum evolves with the idea to make Copenhagen a city with access to all types of international cuisine, the museum will educate visitors and allows them to experience and interact with the chef and the food itself, from scratch to final plate. By respecting the existing building we are preserving and readapting the facades and interiors adding a subtle connection. The idea is to make Copenhagen an accesible international cuisine city enhancing all types of cultural activities. The community is always important when designing architecture. The studio gave us the project as an open musuem. I decided to do a survey and have real results on what were the needs of the community and asked them what type of museum they would like to have. Food museum was the answer.
Site Plan & Context Pumpehuset is an institutional building in Copenhagen with a history stretching back to the first stone setting in May 16th, 1856, completed in spring 1858, in use from July 1st, 1859 and initially serving as a water supply station for the Copenhagen Municipality. It is surrounded by three primary and secondary streets that makes it accessible from various sides. It is composed of 9 buildings in which 6/9 were adapted to create program for a new museum.

This section shows how the new area integrates with the old building. As seen, special materials where selected to decrease energy uses, low maintenance costs and better functionality. I worked and coordinated with topology, structural and electrical engineers to make an integrated functional building.
Pressto Interiors The concept was to resemble a modern, neat and clean space where clients felt they were at a formal lobby. In the past, all the ironing machines and other processes where at first sight. In this new concept it was all about white, transparent and blue glass walls. The actual furniture was re-designed and re adapted to a new modern and functional look.

MHZ6
RESIDENTIAL Location: San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Dimension: 700 .00 m² Date: 2015
MHZ6 is the result of a competition in one of the most exclusive areas in San Pedro Sula. It was a collaboration between Leslie Linares and I, and we won Third Place. The project was based upon luxury and nature fusing together in architecture. The lot was a sloped ground which signified architectural and engineering challenges. This project is now being used as a marketing strategy to sell lots in the private residential. It has been featured in magazines and their social media accounts. MY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Main concept 2. Facades design 3. Materials and details selection 4. Interior Design 5. Architecture Visualization 6. Studies and Diagrams
GROUP RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Spaces distribution 2. CAD Drawings
Site Plan & Context
MHZ6 is located in the north west of San Pedro Sula in one of the most prestigous and modern residential areas in a 1,572 m² lot. The surrounding area is as following: the north side by a principal street where it’s frontal facade is located, in the west and east side by residential lots and in the south is surrounded by a secondary street. This residential area is becoming the top spot for modern and contemporary living. It is define by it’s union with nature, the nearness of one the greatest natural monuments of the city: “ El Merendón” and the spectacular views of the city.
02.MHZ6

Abstract
The project was designed using the shape of a bird as a representation of it living in the mountains. The Philosophical concept was “ Nature meeting Luxury” due to the meaning of the residential.
SIte Section The ground had a 54% slope with special topology that were very important at the moment of the design. The main idea was to use the principal street for the main entrance, so the house was going to be designed from the bottom to the top. Also the peak point of the ground was going to be used for all the cistern and hidraulic installation for it to flow and work correctly.

Space Relationship Diagram The diagram was the first step to design the project. This helped organize and understand all the spaces required in the house. The diagram is about relationship connections and type of areas. The diagram was divided between Direct and Indirect relation. Direct meaning that they are connected by doors or a very near space and Indirect, that they are connected by halls or stairs. These helped us know how to connect and where we should locate the areas.
Direct Relation Indirect Relation Private Area Social Area Service Area
Ventilation and Illumination In Honduras, all the positive and strong winds come from the NE and hot areas are located in the SW.
Sunny Areas Windy Areas Zoning We designed the zoning based on the Ventilation and Illumination study. Private and Social areas are located in the NE to provide fresh and natural air; Service areas are located in the SE.
Views We define the views by doing a study of the area, asking people which areas were priority in regard to the best views. As seen in the model, bedrooms and social areas were the top choices.
