DISCOVER Excellence Gold-rated Teaching
We are ranked GOLD in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), one of only three universities in the North West of England to hold this prestigious rating, and placing Edge Hill University’s teaching in the top third of UK universities. It means that our teaching is ‘of the highest quality found in the UK’. Our Gold rating is based on the high levels of satisfaction our students feel about all aspects of the academic teaching, assessment, feedback and support they receive here. This means the majority of our students, from all walks of life, achieve consistently outstanding outcomes, whether pursuing a chosen career path or continuing with their studies.
The tutors are very approachable and always willing to give their time. When they have such enthusiasm for their subject, as they do here at Edge Hill, it rubs off on you. Ellis Brennan BA (Hons) Criminology and Sociology

Students’ Union Edge Hill Students’ Union (SU) is an independent organisation that is entirely shaped by our students. You will automatically become a member when you enrol at the University, giving you access to a wide range of support, activities, events and opportunities to further your skills and interests. The mission of the Students’ Union is to ensure that student voices are heard and acted upon, enabling the Union to work towards creating the best student experience possible. Every year students elect a team of Sabbatical Officers who represent the student voice on committees and boards, and run campaigns and events supported by professional staff and parttime elected officers. Advice and Representation Support and guidance is available through the Students’ Union Advice Centre in areas such as: - academic issues - welfare benefits - housing - finance All advice is impartial, confidential, free to students and independent from the University. There is also the opportunity to become a course rep during your time at Edge Hill. Student reps at course or faculty level are an integral part of democracy and representation, so taking on these roles during your studies can enhance your employability and transferable skills. Your Social Life: bars, shops, places to eat The Students’ Union is where the campus really comes to life. With something going on almost every night of the week you could be spending a lot of your spare time there. Whether it’s a big night out, watching the match, quiz night, or the legendary Karaoke Friday, there should be a night out with your name on it. When you have worked up an appetite, the SU’s on-campus Subway is on hand during the day.
Clubs and Societies Joining clubs and societies is a great way to make friends, try something new or simply indulge your existing passions and interests. To join a society, or maybe even start your own, the Students’ Union offers support and guidance, helping you make the most of your student experience: Academic societies covering a range of subjects, offering co-curricular activities and networking. Liberation groups promoting equality and diversity on campus and in the community. Performance groups spanning dance, music and drama genres, offering practical and exciting opportunities for anyone who is attracted to the limelight. Politics, campaigning and activism allowing you to make your voice heard and make a difference locally, nationally and globally. Hobbies and interest groups from well-known fandoms to games and activities, where you can learn new skills and meet like-minded people. Faith and culture societies give you the opportunity to explore your faith and the diverse and rich cultures of students at Edge Hill University. For more information and a current list of the student-led groups please visit:

There are, of course, plenty of options for those who prefer not to live entirely by night. From breakfast raves, Crafternoons and vintage clothing sales, to trips to the Lake District, events begin from day one on campus and continue throughout the year. Our Give It A Go! programme lists all events around campus as well as talks, workshops and personal development courses. The SU Shop sells all your student essentials, official merchandise and clothing, alongside food offers which include a range of gluten-free, halal, vegan and veggie options.

VISA INFORMATION AND ADVICE Edge Hill will provide you with help and advice at all stages of your visa application process. Unless you are a UK or Irish national, or have an existing immigration status1 that allows you to study in the UK, you will need to apply for a Student Route visa before you travel2 to study a course of six months or longer. To be able to apply for your student visa, you will need to have first met our visa-sponsorship3 requirements. These include having: Accepted an unconditional offer for your course; Paid 50% of your tuition fees for your first year; Met all the relevant UKVI requirements such as English language, finance, academic progress, time-caps and credibility. If you are coming to study for no more than six months then you can apply for a Visitor visa. For this, we will provide a letter for you that confirms you have accepted an unconditional offer. For any immigration and visa-related queries, please email visas@edgehill.ac.uk
82
1. Examples of an existing immigration status that allows study: Indefinite Leave to Remain; Settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, including family members; A Points-Based-System Dependant visa; A work-related visa (we would usually only allow part-time study). We will need to confirm your immigration status before you enrol on a course. 2. If you are already in the UK, then we will need to check to see if you can apply in the UK for your visa. If you can, then you will need to have applied before you enrol on your course. 3. As your visa sponsors, we are required to monitor your engagement and progress throughout your studies and report any breaches of your visa conditions to the UKVI, including the limits on part-time work.
