Canadian rock band legends

Simple Plan flew to Davao City for the very first time as part of their Asia Tour for their newest album ‘Harder Than It Looks’ on March 12, 2023 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier.

Fans not only from all over Mindanao traveled to Davao see in flesh their idols sing their greatest hits from way back in 2002. SM Lanang’s top floor has been filled with early birds since mall opening hour as most of them want to sing and party up close with them in the mosh pit. A few of these fans availed the “Post Game VIP Meet and Greet” with the band during sound check where merchandises and posters were signed by Pierre Bouvier, Jeff Stinco, Sebastien Lefebvre and Chuck Comeau on site.

First act before the main event is the beautiful and amazing Canadian singer Airxyel who is having her very first Asia Tour with Simple Plan. Airxyel sang a few of her singles “Wondering”,

“Please” and her newest song that she’s about to launch on Mar 17 called “Hellgirl”.

Simple Plan started the concert with “I’d Do Anything” which made everyone jump on their feet and sing along.

“Wow we got a lot of hardcore fans here in Davao! Our next song is one of the hits we made in 2022. Is there anyone here who is not yet born in 2022? This song is older than you! What is it called?,” lead singer Pierre Bouvier said before dropping the beats to sing “I’m Just A Kid” with the crowd.

As part of their tour, Simple Plan sang their new songs that are part of their HTIL album “Iconic”

“Wake Me Up When This Nightmare is Over”and “Congratulations” which brings us all back to yesteryear back to a time where we recall feeling lost and helpless. It is all about taking the high road and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel which means whenever everything feels so wrong, we should be seeing these things from a better perspective with hope and excitement.

Concert goers are feeling nostalgic as they sing their hearts out to the songs “Addicted”, “Summer Paradise”, “Jet Lag”, “Welcome To My Life”, “Shut Up”, “Jump”, “Antidote”, “Where I Belong”, “What’s New Scooby Doo”, “Untitled” particularly to their encore song

“Perfect”.

These songs have truly changed the lives of many 90s kids who are experiencing teenage angst way back their high school days. Simple Plan and their songs are forever imprinted in their hearts. This album just made it a lot more memorable for everyone not just in the Philippines but surely in the entire world listening to SP music.

The SMX Convention Center has been taken over with an overflow of Simple Plan fans from the VIP mosh pit up to the back. This concert has the most sold-out tickets yet in history at SM Lanang Premier. Simple Plan showed their appreciation to everyone and said in their Facebook post that they are coming back soon to the Philippines to see the fans again, especially in Davao.
