DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte wants the New People’s Army (NPA) to issue a statement regarding the landmine explosion that blew up three ambulances and injured five civilians and 12 soldiers in Davao del Sur last Sunday. “I’d like to hear from the NPA, either mag issue sila’g statement, explanation or they would like I’ll go to them,” Duterte told reporters last Tuesday afternoon during the 11th year commemoration of the bomb blast at the old airport in 2003. Duterte said that if the NPA admits the crime he wants to know why they were using this kind of war tactic even if it is against the Geneva Convention on articles of war.
He said what the suspects did was a ‘double whammy’ on the part of Armed Forces since the military only wanted to retrieve a soldier who was wounded in an encounter in Bansalan, Davao del Sur. Duterte said that the NPA used to complain against the war strategy of the government military that was against the Articles of War of Geneva Convention, but they themselves were guilty of the
