Thanks for taking some time to join us Coach Messina It's a little over a month until the 2023 season kicks-off. How do you feel at this point heading into the season?
I feel really good We've had a great summer with workouts and have come off a really, really good spring Our numbers are up and so is attendance. Our workouts have been exceptional, so hopefully, that carries into the 1st of August and to the start of our season.
# 2 ink it reinforces every year In getting to the season, the hardest t is to keep kids motivated and interested in working for something t takes a long time In other sports like baseball and basketball, en in track and field, they can go out there anytime and find a track et all year long or they can play on a travel baseball team 12 nths out of the year. In high school football, it’s one of those things where there's a lot of work involved; there's eight months of work for a four-month season If you want to be successful, you have to be willing to sacrifice your time and give the effort in those eight months to hopefully reach the rewards in the season
One of the oldest adages in sports is that championships are won and lost in the off-season. As a coach, what are your thoughts on this belief and is there any moment in your career that has reinforced your belief either way?

You’ve seen almost all you could during your time at Loranger, from undefeated seasons to winless Are wins always a good reflection on the job done that year?
Not always Some of the teams that didn't win as many games might have been the best job coaching that our staff and I have ever done We kept kids interested, we kept kids playing, and we played with a lot of young kids It goes in cycles in public school This year we'll have 17 seniors, and then it'll progress up from there It’s having kids grow up and fighting through the cycle. It takes time and patience.
