On Vacation

by Heather Wimble

Story 4

Track 63

Brandy and Colin are on summer vacation with their Mom. They are in a rented vacation home near Copperton. Their Dad isn’t with them. He doesn’t have a summer vacation. Today is the first day of the vacation. This is the children’s first visit to Copperton.

Go and explore.

O.K.

There’s a forest behind the house. There are huge trees in the forest. Colin likes climbing trees. But Brandy doesn’t like the forest very much. She’s afraid of snakes. Wow! Let’s climb some trees!

I bet there are a lot of snakes in this forest!

Next, Brandy and Colin explore the street in front of the house. Brandy and Colin walk up the hill, and see a taxi rank and a little grocery store.

Let’s buy some apples!

Good idea! I’m hungry!

Near the grocery store Brandy and Colin see a small hospital.

Let’s buy some juice! A hospital! Good, for snake bites!

I’m thirsty!

Brandy and Colin walk passed the hospital and into Copperton. It’s a long walk, and it’s hot! At the entrance to the town there’s a small café. The children stop there and buy two cans of juice. Then they walk downtown.

Right in the center of Copperton there’s a street market. It’s a very big street market with a lot of stalls: fruit and vegetable stalls, and meat, eggs and cheese stalls, too. You can also see handicraft stalls.

Let’s explore the market!

Mom loves street markets!

Behind the market there is a big and very beautiful cathedral! There are two hotels and one has a large swimming pool!

Hey! What a big cathedral! Look Colin! We can come and swim here!

But now Brandy and Colin are very tired and hungry. It’s time for lunch. Their Mom is waiting for them at the barbecue under the trees in the garden at their vacation home.

Who wants a hamburger?
