murdered woman in his flat; the police inevitably take him for the murderer, and the spies are after him too... Great fun. A bit of a cheeky inclusion in an Edinburgh-set film season, but watch out for our iconic rail bridge.
Trainspotting Danny Boyle / UK 1996 / Cert 18 Friday 30 December – 3.45pm Sunday 1 January – 6.30pm The Oscar-winning classic is set in a private school in 1930s Edinburgh, where Maggie Smith’s headstrong young teacher ignores the curriculum and influences her impressionable 12 year old charges with her overromanticized world view.

Friday 30 December – 6.30pm Saturday 31 December – 3.45pm A delightful Ealing-style comedy set in Edinburgh. But then Angela Barrows (Constance Cummings), an American Efficiency Expert, arrives to evaluate his performance...

Audaciously punching up the pitch-black comedy, juggling parallel character strands and juxtaposing image, music and voice-over with a virtuosity worthy of Scorsese on peak form.
Edinburgh from the Archives Friday 30 December – 8.45pm Saturday 31 December – 1.30pm Other English Hitchcocks may be more provocative, but few offer such a ripping good yarn. Richard Hannay flees from London in pursuit of a spy ring, responsible for leaving a
