Shades of blue Blue eyeshadow is like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. it is unarguably one of the hardest makeup looks to pull off unless you are christina ricci in the 1998 movie buffalo 66 or elizabeth taylor as cleopatra in 1968. the drama was all on the eyes at victoria beckhams ss17 runways where the models eyelids featured striking strips of shimmering blue, paired back with groomed brows and perfected skin. similar looks were seen at the ports 1961, christian siriano and n21 shows, all making their looks their own with a variety of different textures, tones, finishes and styles.

2017 is the year where lip gloss is no longer limited to your lips. The models at stella jeans ss17 runway showcased an ethereal glow. their flawless complexions consisted of a dewy base and delicatley highlighted focus points to set off the wet-look, glossy eye lid and lip combination. A similar look was created by bobbi brown for the marchesa show. despite glossy eyelids being unwearable for a day-to-daY look, they are one of the most innovative backstage beauty looks of the season.

The fendi show oozed festival vibes with model sisters of the moment, gigi and bella hadid donning a dramatic cat eye with a full glitter pout finished with 'cartoon hair'. sam mcknight adorned the playful pigtails and ponytails with acrylic studs from fendi bags,. mcknight was inspired by vanellope von schweetz, a animated princess from disney's film wreck-it ralph.

sportmax clashed primary colours at their ss17 catwalk show with models keeping it minimal on the makeup with a eyecatching lick on yellow across the eye lids. civindi and salvatore ferragamo models wore similar looks, keeping to the fruity palette with striking strips of tangerine and neon corals below the models brows.

Olive and Frank are a UK based clothing brand who began their journey selling their pieces at market stalls in 2014. Their collections feature tee’s, sweatshirts, tennis skirts, jeans, bomber jackets and lingerie with playful, cute motifs, embroideries and slogans with a cheeky and feminist edge. Inspired by the 90’s grunge scene, street style, travel and music, Olive and Frank say their aim is to be “creating seasonless collections of understatedly cool clothing with fun at it's heart.”. Promoting their brand exclusively through social media platforms such as Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr, Olive and Frank continue to produce youthful, innovative, and up-to-date designs.

"Zara's Join Life range embraces a woman who looks into a more sustainable future." Spanish high street retailer Zara is one of the most controversial when it comes to the topic of fast fashion, however in 2015 they made the step of introducing their first sustainable range named Join Life. The Join Life collection is similar in price to their regular range and unlike some other brands, doesn’t sacrifice on the style. All clothes produced in the Join Life collection are in line with the seasons key trends. This seasons focus is on the silhouettes and shapes of the garments keeping the rest simplistic in block colours. A lot of the range is is made out of pin-striped shirting fabrics with a contemporary update. Zara's Join Life range "embraces a woman who looks into a more sustainable future.". Their goal is to make their clothes progressively more sustainable and the Join Life range is made from sustainable materials such as BCI approved organic cotton, recycled wool and Tencel which is a fabric regenerated from wood

cellulose. Join Life products go under frequent quality control tests and are required to meet health, safety and environmentally sustainability standards and suppliers must respect the environment and workers. Moving forward now 50% of Zara’s stores are eco efficient and renewable sources are used to create 84% of the energy used to run the website. The stores have a clothes collection service for customers to take unwanted clothes which is then donated to charities such as Oxfam and the Red Cross. Join Life is such a huge progression for Zara especially after their history of bad ethical standards and practises when it comes to being environmentally friendly and treating their workers. The Join Life range has expanded a lot coming up to their two year anniversary and as a company Zara are making loads of changes which is inarguably a positive step towards a more sustainable future for fashion.

k c a b w o r th ion h s fa 23 year old student studying Japanese, Anna Randall tells Edit Conscious about her almost exclusively vintage and secondhand wardrobe. After years of rummaging through charity shops in London and mastering the art of eBay, her wardrobe is larger than most. Filled with rare designer pieces and vintage gems, her ‘don’t care’ approach to dressing is in stark contrast to the norms of most fashion influenced young adults in 2017.

What inspired you to start your collection or vintage and second hand clothing, shoes and accessories? When I was younger I used to go to places like brick lane market and shops like beyond retro but I rarely bought anything because it was too expensive. A couple of years ago I discovered that I could get amazing clothes for really cheap at charity shops or on eBay. Now I'm addicted.

What do you enjoy about this method of shopping compared to buying things new from mainstream high street retailers? It's so much cheaper, and you can get designer stuff that would be hundreds of pounds originally for under a tenner. It's also good from a creative point of view because I can trawl through stuff and create my own unique style instead of just walking into urban outfitters and being told what's cool.

Is there anything in particular that inspires your style? Right now I'm very inspired by Paris Hilton and Britney Spears in their heyday, and the 2001 Grammys. I'm also inspired by my own childhood, the stuff I would wear to school discos when I was 10 and feel so glam. What is your favourite second hand bargain you have purchased and where did you buy it? I love my little guess handbag, it's so cute and looks expensive. I feel like a dumb bimbo when I wear it, and the brown colour scheme is so 90s.

Is there a particular place that you do most of your shopping? Definitely eBay. It's so much easier because I can just scroll through, and often the cheapest. Charity shopping takes time and energy. What do you look for when shopping, do you have something already in mind or do you just see what is there? Sometimes I have something in mind but that can be difficult with second hand as it's so time consuming. Often I look out for the labels. On eBay, I'll type something like "DKNY" in, and set the parameters for auction only and under a fiver. I have to scroll through a lot of shit to find something good, and even then I could be outbid, but every so often I get a real gem. What would you suggest as advice for someone wanting to start a vintage collection? For advice, I would say be patient and be prepared to walk away. Most of the things I buy I am the only bidder on and so I get it for the starting bid price. It's easy to get sucked into a bidding war and end up spending more than you wanted when you haven't even seen/tried on the item. There will always be another bargain.

d e m i a l c e R e g a t n i V ASOS’ own brand, Reclaimed Vintage hunts far and wide to source old fabrics and rare vintage pieces to create something brand new with an on trend fit and on season feel. They sell the vintage necessities including reworked denim and leather, one-off true vintage pieces then a large range of updated vintage-inspired garments made from vintage unique fabrics. They also sell a large range of accessories including sunglasses, belts and leather backpacks. Reclaimed Vintage is a one stop shop for getting festival ready this summer with renewed military jackets, sequinned bumbags, statement jewellery and dresses with a boho vibe. A key trend for SS17 is band t-shirts in all forms. Cropped, oversized, cut up, embellished, reworked and Reclaimed Vintage are spoiling us for choice. They have updated their band merchandise by removing panels and replacing them with sequinned lace, added embellished patches to the garments, painted slogans in contrasting fabric paint directly onto the fabric, and given the rough edge of a band t-shirt a feminine update all the cool girls will be wearing.
