Advanta Envisioning Center Salas O’Brien for Microsoft, fall 2019
My role on Salas O’Brien projects enclosed was lead designer. The Envisioning Center required a reconfiguration of an existing 2,450 square foot space. I developed and presented space plans and finishes to the client. I led a five person team on the construction documents, collaborated on custom details, specified furniture, and was the primary contact during the construction administration phase. This secure access space accommodates multi-day meetings with external clients. To facilitate collaboration, Microsoft requested furniture promoting movement to discourage individual laptop use. Other programmatic requirements included phone rooms, a printing area, caterer staging, and luggage lockers.

Advanta C1
Salas O’Brien for Microsoft, fall 2018 A 19,000 square foot tenant improvement at a corporate campus. The client was a group of designers who wanted to distance themselves from the campus’s conventions. In contrast to the digital format the designers work within, references to analog media (tape decks, clipboards, arcade games) and patinaed, tactile materials, are present throughout. I strategically implemented ceiling and wall construction detailing in higher visibility areas to elevate the existing space’s corporate feel. The project included a substantial ancillary furniture package and custom casework; the guitar amplifiers pictured are both real and fabricated in order to meet anthropometric standards suitable for casual group seating. In addition to new open work stations, this project encompasses specialty meeting spaces, an updated kitchenette, and new finishes throughout.
Redwest B and D Lobbies
Salas O’Brien for Microsoft, spring 2019 I created a lobby design implemented at two sites. The reception desks have interlocking materials showcasing a textured panel referencing the Puget Sound region. Scope includes a lounge area with digital visitor information. The buildings are differentiated with accent colors and variations of finishes.
