The Zurich Seville City Marathon celebrated its 33th consecutive year on the Spanish calendar. Thanks to its numbers, it has established itself as one of southern Europe’s most important marathons. But in the running world (age groupers), it is surely among the top three most sought-after races. True to its essence, this year the organization once again closed registration one month prior to race day (this past February 21st) to ensure top service and a great marathon. The event is of the highest-quality, and the course itself, Europe’s flattest, is extremely fast. The route’s success is thanks to its design, its ability to attract the public and its beauty. Like the popular love song to the city of Seville declares, this event clearly has a special “colour” about it. The feeling of a major marathon of tremendous importance and whose full potential is still far from being reached. With its price (one of the most inexpensive in Europe), its sea-level course with only a ten-metre change in altitude between its highest and lowest points, its route through all the monuments of the old town, the perfect climate of Andalusia in February, the care given to the runner and all the services that are included… it’s a recipe for success. When it’s winter in Europe, it’s spring in Seville.
Zurich Seville City Marathon, IAAF Gold Label and 5 Stars event by the European Athletics Association, is the flattest marathon in Europe. The event is open to the international runners’ community and has a new and absolutely flat course in one of the most scenic venues the city centre of Seville, crossing the main monuments and historical streets.
