Green Godess Golf Tournament
First Annual Green Goddess Invitational brings together women cannabis entrepreneurs to focus on social justice and industry inclusion
The first annual Green Goddess Invitational, a femalecentered, cannabis-themed golf tournament—
“The bar has not just been raised on cannabis industry events, it’s been obliterated by Ms. Caroline Pineau and the entire team at Stem Haverhill and everyone who came together to flawlessly execute the Green Goddess Invitational,” said Kim Napoli, counsel and director of diversity, equity and inclusion in the Boston office of Vicente Sederberg, a national cannabis firm. “Keep your eyes out for next year’s event. It is an absolute must-attend.”
Napoli was a panelist on one of the seminars at the first-of-its-kind tournament, which was founded and organized by Caroline Pineau, owner of Stem, a cannabis retail store in Haverhill. The event featured a nine-hole
golf tournament, panel discussions, lessons with a LPGA golf pro, unique cannabis educational offerings, wellness clinics, a painting workshop and other activities.
All proceeds from the tournament benefited Power of Self-Education (POSE), a Haverhill-based nonprofit
that promotes racial and social justice through community engagement, youth engagement and cross-sector collaborations.
The event attracted more than 250
people and more than 40 co-sponsors. In addition to bringing together female cannabis entrepreneurs from throughout Massachusetts, the event featured a strong civil rights component, with the nationally-known cannabis entrepreneur and social justice advocate Freeway Ricky Ross leading a discussion on restorative justice.
Pineau, who conceived of the tournament late last year and spent hundreds of hours putting it together, said the event was the kickoff of
a movement with the potential to reshape women’s status in the cannabis industry and the industry’s approach to social justice and inclusion issues.
In remarks to participants at the tournament, Pineau said the event was meant to “spark joy, inspire activism, and create space for connection and self-care.”
“You are all here today as trailblazers. You are defining our industry, and with that comes an incredible opportunity to do everything we possibly can to address social equity. We recognize this work can be draining at times, and emotional. We need a reminder
to have grace with each other, and especially ourselves,” Pineau said.
