RED PANTS & SECTION CHAMPS

WHAT’S NEW IN THE GEORGIA SECTION $92,000 RAISED FOR GENE SILLER MEMORIAL GRANT

On August 15, 2022, the Georgia PGA Foundation hosted the First Annual Gene Siller Red Pants Memorial Golf Tournament & Auction at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, GA.

The event is the flagship fundraising event of the Gene Siller Memorial Grant - a financial assistance grant for junior golfers looking to learn, play and compete in junior golf initiatives. The grant was established in 2021 in memory of the late Eugene “Gene” Karl Siller, Pinetree’s beloved Director of Golf who tragically lost his life on the tenth hole in July of 2021. The tournament is named for his signature red pants, which he wore at the time of his passing.

Since the Grant’s inception, over $20,000 has been awarded to Georgia-based junior golfers and programs. Ashley Siller, Gene’s

widow says this is only the beginning. Addressing a crowd of red pants-clad supporters, she said “When people hear Gene’s name, I don’t want his legacy to be defined by the senseless act of violence that took his life. I want people to think of Gene’s Grant and how it is improving the lives of kids.”

The Tournament and Auction raised over $92,000 for the Gene Siller Memorial Grant. For more information, contact Foundation Manager Hailey Estes at hestes@pgahq.com. WEINHART CAPTURES FOURTH GEORGIA PGA CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE
