OBITUARY
David Daniel Marold passed away peacefully at his country home in Warren, Texas, on Friday, the 11th of June 2021. He was 79 years of age. He was born on the 23rd of May 1942, to Audrey Bernadette Conway Marold and Louis Joseph Marold in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He attended Cheyenne Mountain School in Colorado Springs and graduated from St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays, Kansas, in 1961. David attended Regis University in Denver and the University of St. Thomas in Houston. On the 28th of July 1966 David married Mary Crotty Carter in a beautiful ceremony at St. Anne Catholic Church in Houston. He died the way he lived… he wrote his own rules, wore many "hats," and connected with every person his path crossed. And he had many paths. David worked for Chemical Bank and Trust in Houston. He then created Temple and Marold Demolishing Company with George Temple. In 1972 he embarked on a new path with his wife Mary and his late father-in-law Victor Neuhaus Carter. The trio created Sonderegger Maine-Anjou (purebred Maine-Anjou cattle operation involved in genetics for seedstock with show champions nationwide) from 1972 – 1996 in Warren, Texas, and then in Westcliffe, Colorado. In the early part of 1970, Sonderegger was involved with Goliath Cattle Company and imported the first Maine-Anjou cattle into the United States. Out of Sonderegger spun High Country Cattle Services and High-Country Genetics. In 1996 David and his wife Mary left the mountains and country life of Colorado and returned to Houston. In 1996 David and Leonard Halpern with the support of Mary created Essential Settings Inc., a purveyor of fine china and household goods. In 2006 he partnered with James Steele for STTEP International Ltd., an international, privately-owned military, intelligence, law enforcement training, and advisory company. David was active in Republican politics his entire life. He was precinct chair of his precinct in Houston in the late 1960's early 1970's. David worked on numerous Republican campaigns in his lifetime. David served as a Director on the American Maine-Anjou Association for many years and he served as President for a term beginning in 1984. He served as a Director of the National Cattleman's Association for years. David was a Director of the National Farmers Market Association in Colorado. Most recently David served on the Tyler County Historical Commission with a mission to make sure the Tyler County Court House was restored and preserved to its natural beauty. David was a member of the Houston Country Club, the Garden of the Gods Club, Silver Spur Club (National Western Livestock Show), and the 1100 Club (Houston Livestock

OBITUARY
On Friday, July 23, 2021, Jerry Gibson left this world peacefully to enter his eternal heavenly home. Jerry was born on Oct. 20, 1941 in Warren, Ark., to John Will and Frankie Lillian Gibson. He received his collegiate degree from the University of Arkansas at Monticello (which he lovingly called by its previous name of Arkansas A&M) and was a member of the Warren Masonic Lodge. He began his business career at Texas Instruments in Dallas where he also met his future wife, Gloria June Gibson. Jerry then began a brief service in the Air Force teaching Crypto in San Antonio as well as mathematics in a local high school. Jerry loved to hunt and fish as well as spending time at the farm tending and growing his cattle business. This instinct helped him to attain many prestigious titles and accolades such as Sr. Vice President of World Wide Operations (DSC in Plano), President & CEO of Telserve his own private telecommunication company, CEO of a Fortune 500 Company (Value Added Communications), Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award, and Distinguished Recognition in The National Management Association. He served on several boards and trustee positions, served his church as a deacon and his city in politics at a local level in Parker, Texas. His natural eye and instinct for quality cattle produced accolades through the Maine-Anjou Cattle Association such as President of the Association, Breeder of the Year, Seed Stock Producer of the Year, Maine Man of the Year, and through the years several back-to-back Grand Champions and Reserve Champions. He was also named the 37th Distinguished Alumnus of the year along with his brother John Wayne Gibson at their college alma mater. But the best titles and accolades he loved and was known for were that of friend, encourager, investor, counselor, mentor, son, brother, husband, dad, and papa. He was known for his love of music and singing from his longtime involvement in his church choirs as well as participating with the Singing Men of Texas in concerts and on mission trips to the Ukraine. He had a quick wit, infectious smile, and a compassionate giving spirit. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, John Will, his mother, Frankie Lillian, a sister Martha, a mother-in-law Velma Prestage, and a brother-inlaw Jim Haupt. He is survived by his wife June Gibson, his two sons Jay (Ashlee) Gibson, Judd (Marla) Gibson, a sister Linda Haupt, a brother John Wayne (Martha) Gibson, a brother Sam (Judy) Gibson, a brother-in-law Jerry (Kay) Mara, several grandchildren Joel, Alexis, Courtney, Jeremy, Cheyanne, Jacob, Haylee, and a great granddaughter Adalynn, as well as by several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Jerry to the Singing Men of Texas, to Bartimaeus Baptist Temple in Dallas (a church to the challenged), or to the American Cancer Society.

Farewell
The American Maine-Anjou Association (AMAA) has been very fortunate over the years to have some of the best office staff an organization could hope for. In July, we bid farewell to two of our very best, Rhonda Boddicker and Paige Jones. The AMAA has been very fortunate to have these two as employees and we wish them the very best in their retirement (Rhonda) and future endeavors (Paige).

I’m going to use the term “signing off” as that is the title John used for his last Voice article when he retired in 2015. Yes, I’m signing off after many years of calling the Maine-Anjou office my home away from home. I have sincerely enjoyed what my job entailed through the years, and even more embraced my friendships with the people I’ve been lucky enough to work with and meet through the Association. There have been major changes since I started in 1990 when an IBM Selectric typewriter was the technology used at my desk until now when everything is found on the internet with the speediest computers. It’s been great but I’m ready and excited for the next chapter in my life! Signing off, Rhonda.
I am so so thankful for my time with the AMAA and especially thankful for all the friends of the breed that have loved and encouraged me along the way. You all are truly the best of the best, and I’m always just a phone call away if you need anything. And don’t worry, I’m sure you haven’t seen the last of me yet!
