MERAKI SPACE Meraki space is an art gallery located in Jalan Jl. Prof. Sutono SH No.2, Petogogan, Kebayoran Baru. This building is equipped by four-storey parking facility.”Meraki” word itself has the meaning of to do something with soul, creativity, or love; to put something of yourself into your work. This place is intended as a place for surrounding community to express their creativeness. Moreover, the parking lot that provided by the building can be used by public.

Ars., Ar., IAI September 2020 - January 2021 The location of the Meraki Space accesible by public transportation such as Transjakarta, Bus, and MRT. The pedestrian path around the site is also good enough so that building users can comfortably continue their journey from the public transportation node to the site. One of the unique things in the site area that is rarely realized is that there are a lot of “intersection” elements. What can be seen directly is the presence of a fairly complex crossroads located in front of the site. If we observe further when walking on the pedestrian path, we will hear the sounds of colliding. From the side of the road, the sound of motor vehicles is quite noisy. But in between the noise, the sound of birds and leaves blowing in the wind can be heard quite clearly. There are also voices of residents interacting.

ASMARALOKA BESTARI As the Toba Caldera Geopark determined as UNESCO Global Geopark, a lot of opportunities also showed up tremendously, especially for the local communities. At the same time, this recognition will attract the world’s attention to the Toba Caldera Geopark. The government and local communities are obliged to preserve and improve the surrounding environment and integrity of the Toba Caldera Geopark. So what do we have to do to optimize that opportunity?

Toba Caldera Geopark is one of the largest volcanic caldera as the result of an enormous volcanic eruption 74.000 years ago. This phenomenon created a large lake region surrounded by fertile soil and beautiful scenery. The project location is ± 5 kilometers from the center of Parapat Sub-district, which is located in Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. This location is quite strategic and has great potential, because it is located between 2 tourism nodes (Parapat & The Caldera Nomadic Escape). Around the project site, there are a lot of local communities who can collaborate with. The development around the Geopark Area is growing rapidly. The Toba Caldera Geopark, with their great natural history, needs a space that emphasizes their potential and shows the world the story of the great natural landscape.

28

There are a lot of intertwined sectors scattered around the Geopark Area which can be raised as several issues, such as Nature, Education and Society. The space hopefully will be a catalyst to optimize the opportunity for geopark development in the future.

PATRA KOMALA The main objective of this project is to design a high density mixed use building in the city center in response to an understanding of the area rejuvenation issue being observed. This assignment also aims to train students to understand the context of activities, movement of people, building masses and complex spatial organization of downtown areas.

42

PATRA KOMALA M i x ed -U se B u i l d i ng Architectural Design Studio V Undergraduate Architecture Program Instructor: Dr. Ir. Christina Gantini, MT. August-December 2019

The Patra Komala is located in the middle of a city that doesn’t have much green open space. This background which underlie why the building having a lot of open space. Comfortable and adequate outdoor facilities are the concept of The Patra Komala itself. The roof of The Patra Komala podium is used in such a way that it can be used as an open space that accommodates the activities of its residents and the surrounding community. The Patra Komala follows the arcade rules used by buildings around Cibadak. The regulation intended to maintain the design pattern of the Cibadak area, and also does not cause the large empty “cavities” caused by this building. The shape of The Patra Komala building is inspired by the shape of Balinese terraced rice fields. It is hoped that this building can become an oasis in the midst of the density of the city.

The Patra komala can be accessed through all four sides of the building. This is done to respond to buildings around the site. Buildings that have a height like The Patra Komala will block the access of the surrounding community. In addition to providing access, The Patra Komala also has a communal space in the middle that can be used freely. This can increase activities and interactions between residents.

This urban community gallery and workspace project was initiated by philanthropists who want to take advantage of development of tourism activities in the center of Bandung by creating buildings that combine arts, work, and recreation functions. Starting with the revitalization of the Asia-Africa Park on the banks of the Cikapundung River, The romanticism of the Merdeka Building area to the square has been able to attract residents to enliven it this area. The building design is expected to be an “Urban Oasis” for the City of Bandung. The location of the site is on Jalan ABC. The area around the site has high historical value because it is near historical sites such as the Asian-African Conference Building, Cikapundung Park, Bandung City Square, and others.

DANA-THOMAS HOUSE (redrawing) Dana House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, has a “married to the ground” concept. They narrate the Midwest prairie wide and low, using characteristics that emphasize the horizontal rather than the vertical elements. They spread over the tread like a vast meadow, a row of windows that provided a deep interaction between the inner space and the the outside environment, the use of wood, plaster, and roman bricks that dominate the building presents an environmental atmosphere nature into the interior of the house.
