SUNDAY SCHOOL SUNDAY, JULY 22ND BRILL CHAPEL 9:30 AM Luke 13:22-30 “Getting

ENTERING GOD'S KINGDOM

In” Trouble

An old joke tells of the man who, while touring through New York City, asked someone, “How do you get to Carnegie Hall?” The response: “Practice, practice, practice.” Admittance into an exclusive organization or institution is not easy. One usually has to have a certain amount of money, friends, and/or special abilities for that to happen. Take, for example, the baseball Hall of Fame. Nomination to be counted part of such an elite group must be earned. A player has to have the statistics to prove that he is worthy of belonging. Entrance into God's kingdom (the subject of this study) is quite a different matter! There is no way we can earn admission. Our “statistics” are dismal; Romans 3:23 states that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We can never measure up on our own. To make it, we need help. In baseball terms, we needed a pinch hitter – someone to go to bat for us. That person is Jesus. He is “the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). But he has a caution for us in this lesson, a caution we must heed. Our own Fretta Moore will bless us on the piano at 9:15. You don't want to miss it. John Trent will lead us this Sunday.

VESPERS THURSDAY, JULY 19TH 3:30 PM BRILL CHAPEL Vespers speaker will be Rev. Jamie West Zumwalt, Sr. Pastor at Valley Brook Vineyard Church and CEO of Outrageous Love, Oklahoma City.

VESPERS THURSDAY, JULY 26TH 3:30 PM BRILL CHAPEL Vespers speaker will be Rev. John W. Zumwalt, Associate Pastor of Valley Brook Vineyard Church and CFO of Outrageous Love, Oklahoma City. 5

EPWORTH VILLA LIBRARY NOTES: HOW TO LOCATE MATERIALS IN THE EPWORTH LIBRARY— FICTION BOOKS area shelved in alphabetical order by the last name of the author. This includes regular and large print volumes. Readers preferring LARGE PRINT books will find a BLUE DOT at the top of the spine on most of those books. PAPERBACK BOOKS are shelved in alphabetical order by the last name of the author. BIOGRAPHY BOOKS are shelved in alphabetical order by the last name of the person the book is about instead of the author. The reason is so that all books about a certain person will be shelved together. NON-FICTION BOOKS are in subject order, according to the Dewey Decimal System. Hopefully, this will assist readers in finding the books they want. Epworth is fortunate to have this library and all residents are encouraged to use the library. Just sign your name and the date, including the year, on the check out card and drop it in the box on the desk. Returned books can be placed on the desk or in the drawer of the desk. NO CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE BOOKS FROM THE METROPOLITAN LIBRARY SYSTEM. CONTINUE TO SIGN YOUR NAME ON THE LIST LOCATED ON THOSE SHELVES.
