SKYLINE CLOTHING DRIVE MAY 16th, 17th, & 18th As you are putting winter clothes away and getting spring/summer clothes out please remember that our Skyline Urban Ministry clothing drive is coming up. It will be held May 16, 17 & 18. Epworth residents have supported this ministry for many years and our contributions are so important and appreciated. We historically have a drive in the spring and the fall. This time we will want only good clean wearable spring/summer clothing. Skyline has told us that they prefer not getting winter clothing now because their storage space is limited. By supporting this ministry we are helping less fortunate persons obtain clothing they can be proud to wear and assisting Skyline to fulfill their mission to "impact lives and empower those in need." Collection boxes will be placed in each residential floor's lounge on the dates indicated. For the first time we are requesting that your donations be placed in plastic bags before being placed in the collection box. This assists those that are collecting clothing from your floor's donation box and placing them in the central collection area as well as making the pick up process by Skyline Urban Ministries less difficult. SUNDAY SCHOOL SUNDAY, MAY 20TH BRILL CHAPEL 9:30 AM Leviticus 25 REMEMBERING WITH JOY When we think about living by faith, we generally consider that to be a religious concept, meaning that one who lives by faith is trusting in God. But the fact is that everyone lives by faith, even the person who is not religious in the least! Why do we get on airplanes? Because we have faith that the pilot has the proper skills to get us to our destination safely. How do we know that the pound of hamburger we purchase at the store is indeed (1) a pound and (2) hamburger? Because we have faith that the grocer is dealing with us honestly. Why do we entrust that package to a delivery person? Once again, we are taking a step of faith. Devout Christians, strident atheists, and everyone in between takes such steps of faith. This is faith based on evidence; it is not blind faith. But imagine a world in which we could trust no one else because there was no evidence upon which to base that trust. How demoralizing that would be! Every action we took during any given day would be subject to incredible risk. In truth, none of us lives totally on our own. To survive in society, we must have a certain level of faith in the competence of others. This sometimes includes risk. Many portions of the Law of Moses challenged the Israelites to exercise a measure of trust and risk. But the basis of the Israelites' actions was rooted first and foremost in their trust in God. Burrel McNaught will lead us in this affirming lesson. Come early to hear and enjoy Fretta Moore at the piano at 9:15 am.
VESPERS THURSDAY, MAY 17TH 3:30 PM BRILL CHAPEL Vespers speaker will be Rev. Erica Thomas, Associate Pastor at Quayle United Methodist Church, OKC. Music by the Villa Voices: Behold the Love, the Grace of God
VESPERS THURSDAY, MAY 24TH 3:30 PM BRILL CHAPEL Villa Voices will present their Annual End-of-The Year Musical program. 6

INQUIRING MINDS FRENCH IMPRESSIONIST PART 3 MONDAY, MAY 21ST 7:14 PM WELLNESS CENTER MODERATOR: FRANS VANANTWERPEN The fruitless struggle of the Impressionists to get their paintings accepted by the government-sponsored annual Salon exhibition leads them to organize their own exhibitions in 1874 and 1876 with moderate success. Most of the reviews by the art critics were negative. For their 1882 show, Degas, the de facto leader of the Impressionists, ordained that they could not participate in the Impressionists exhibition if they also submitted paintings to the Salon. Renoir refused, and so did Monet later on. Will the Impressionists group fall apart? 8
