Letter to Editor Dear Triba l M embe rs : H avi ng s erve d as the Triba lly- elected Secretary for the Sac and Fox Nation for several terms of office, I want you to know what you can do, to preserve not only your own personal history, and family history, but you can also leave information for tribal history. Please know, when I received the Tribal Files in October of 19 9, the files were in twelve 12 boxes, with one red box that contained the membership cards of each enrolled member, at that time. The box of membership cards was used for a few years to control our Tribal Membership. Then, I created a file of manila folders for each enrolled triba l member. After a few years of usage of that method, I could see that a more durable file folder was needed. Thus, a red, heavier file folder was then purchased to transfer each individual tribal member to the more durable file. I, then invited each member to send in copies of documentation of their personal achievements, that they wanted to have filed in their personal folder. That premise is still available today. However, that bit of information is not published more, for your information. Many membe rs have attained great heights in their lives, and thus, we need to remember them, and their work. While serving the Sac and Fox Nation, I came to the conclusion, years ago, - the Sac and Fox Nation are smart people. Thus, I do urge you to reply to the information for our Sac and Fox Nation

Historical purposes. We no longer visit each other, anymore, to - keep our family history and stories alive. es, I know. We have had the Coronovirus-19 with us, all the past year. But, you must agree, we have lost a lot of our family and tribal stories. We are forgetting who we are kin to. Do you get my point So, inform our Tribal Secretary the Constitutional person , or mail in to her, all your personal family history. It would be good to begin with the grandparent s name, and their oll number. Many of them will be listed with Indian names, maybe. Also, ask her for any information. That is the office that has all the tribal records. This information is to each triba l member So, feel free to do it. Mary F. McCormick, P as t Triba l Secretary

Education Dept. to Distribute Excess Laptops From Social Security Office by Edwina Butler-Wolfe Director of Education Department The Sac and Fox Nation Education Department would like to announce an upcoming project we are excited to fulfill with Mr. Jose Olivero, Public Affairs Specialist from Social Security Administration Office. Mr. Olivero contacted the Sac and Fox
Nation Education Department in February, to see if we could utilize some of their excess laptops. We accepted 50 laptops on March 30, 2021. This opportunity will provide the technologies needed for various telecommunications while we continue to combat COVID-19. My plan is to use the laptops for virtual tutoring for our Sac and Fox Stu-
dents, we would like to start sessions this summer if possible. This will allow our students to have additional resources for assistance and provide a safe environment virtually where our tribal students can receive a more one-on-one approach with their studies. The Social Security Office also would like to help set up software with our health clinic for the Sac and Fox patients and tribal members who would need to do any business with the Social Security Office. This would allow people to have ease of access to doing their business affairs with Social Security through the Health
Clinic, instead of having to travel to the nearest Social Security Office. Interim Health Director Scott Miller has agreed and will be working out the logistics with the Social Security Office on additional actions needed to make this project successful. Sac and Fox Nation Education Department would like to thank everyone involved from the Nation and Mr. Jose Olivero for reaching out. The following departments and organizations will be offered the laptops for their use within their departments or organizations as followed: Black Hawk Health Center, Library, Veterans, Elders, IT and Human Services.

Sac and Fox Nation Treasurer Hello my fellow Tribal members, My name is Amanda Ramirez and I am seeking your vote for Treasurer. I am the daughter of Edward Wood, granddaughter of Freeland Wood Jr., and great granddaughter of Lorena Mack-Wood. My husband Anthony and I have one daughter, Amora. We live in Shawnee and attend Sallateeska Baptist Church where I have served as Treasurer for the past thirteen years. Three years ago, I started a financial services and education business; helping individuals, families, and businesses learn about money and, recently obtained my license to be a Financial Advisor. I know the importance on managing money properly, creating and following budgets, and working towards and reaching financial goals. I have a strong desire to serve and help people and I believe with the knowledge and skills I have attained can help grow our great Nation. I will ensure that our Nation is strong now and into the future. I will do my best and work hard for you. With gratitude, Amanda Ramirez
