FUNDAMENTALS OF SALARY ADMINISTRATION FOR HUMAN RESOURCE PROFESSIONALS

DEMONSTRATING HR VALUE THROUGH THE USE OF EFFECTIVE HR METRICS™

This preparatory course serves as an introduction into the basics of pay. Included will be a general discussion of compensation-related legal issues, job analysis, job evaluation, market analysis, salary ranges, pay for performance, salary management and communication. In today’s global market human talent constitutes the biggest asset of any organization. Hence, the efficiency level of an organization fundamentally depends on its human capital management (HCM). With a sound HR metrics program, HR management can make business decisions that are based on cold facts rather than a “gut feeling” and use the exact figures to back up business decisions and support requests for human talent. This class will cover the fundamentals of HR metrics and assist you with the development of such measurements. .6 CEU. Approved for 6 recertification credits.

NEVADA EMPLOYMENT LAW I

STRATEGIC PLANNING I: GETTING STARTED

If you are employed or employ others in the State of Nevada, your employment relationship is subject to two sets of employment laws: the federal government and the State of Nevada. Which laws do you have to follow? Does one set of laws have priority over the other set? As an employer, human resource professional, or business professional how well do you understand the two sets of laws? Do the two sets of laws dictate the same thing? If federal and state laws conflict, which do you follow? Attend the NEVADA EMPLOYMENT LAW series, a multi-part seminar program, and receive the answers to these and many more Nevada employer - employee relationship questions. In Nevada Employment Law I, you will study Nevada Revised Statues, NRS, (no prerequisite required) Title 53-Labor and Industrial Relations, Chapters 607 - 612. Your discussion will focus on: The Nevada Labor Commissioner, Compensation, Wages and Hours, Employment of Minors, Apprenticeships, Employment Agencies and Offices, and Unemployment Compensation. Each participant will receive a detail summary of the Nevada Revised Statutes, Title 53, Chapters 607 - 612 as part of the course material. .6 CEU Pending approval through HRCI.

Other topics include defining expectations (both internal & external), performing a SWOT analysis and developing a strategic plan. Approved for six (6) recertification credits through HRCI.

You will also be introduced to types of job evaluation methods—some simple, some not. Animal Massage & Care Provider Certification Developed by IPTouch (Innovative Pet Therapy), this certification program will guide humans into the dynamic world of animals. The goal of IPTouch Animal Massage is to create optimal health and to strengthen the human-animal bond thus producing happier, healthier pets. The animals that we bring into our homes become full-fledged family members, our confidantes and comrades, even exercise and meditation partners! And, as with any family member, we want a healthy, peaceful life for our pets. This program is not a shortened human massage method modified for use on animals. Instead, IPT has created this program to show humans how to become strong, independent animal bodywork providers. Taught with the animal’s perspective as its central theme, IPTouch approaches include Swedish, Sports, Myofascial, Trigger Point, Shiatzu, Stretching, and Muscle Energy techniques that animals will understand and appreciate. IPTouch Animal Massage is recognized by the Dolphin Habitat, Shilo Equine Rescue, Jungle Friends Monkey Rescue, Cheval Equine Show, Greyhound Rescue, Adam and Eve Burmese Pythons, Ferret Rescue, Feral Cat Rehabilitation, Bird Rescue Sanctuary, Wallaby Rescue, Equine Rodeo, Dressage, Jumper and Endurance Specialists, as well as numerous animal shelters and veterinarians.

The following certificates and continuing education courses comprise the IPTouch program:

Cannon Survey Center Resources Cannon Survey Center operates a computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) facility. This system enables precise control over the order of questions and the range of legitimate responses so that invalid or inappropriate responses are avoided. Information is also automatically entered into data files while interviews are being conducted. CSC also maintains a system that creates paper surveys in which information can then be scanned into the computer, eliminating manual data entry. In addition to optical mark recognition (e.g., Scantron forms), this system also provides hand print (ICR), machine print (OCR), and barcode recognition. The CATI system and the scanner system enable CSC to design and execute surveys in a timely manner, save your organization money, and improve data accuracy.

All decisions of admissions and employment are based on objective standards that will further the goals of equal opportunity. The university is committed to assuring that all programs and activities are readily accessible to all eligible persons without regard to their race, color, religion, gender, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, Vietnam-Era and/or disabled veteran status, any protected class under relevant state and federal laws, and, in accordance with university policy, sexual orientation.

GO BACK TO GET AHEAD Cass Palmer President and Chief Executive Officer United Way of Southern Nevada Complex and challenging are just a couple of descriptions for today’s workplace as you try to do more with less money and fewer employees. It is even more so in the non-profit world. However, the solution is the same – gaining the right education and training. That is why United Way of Southern Nevada is collaborating with Continuing Education at the UNLV Division of Educational Outreach to offer the community a certificate program in Non-Profit Management. Mobilizing the caring power of Southern Nevadans, United Way works with UNLV to inform the community about this opportunity. Graduates of the Non-Profit Management course learn the dynamics of fundraising and financial oversight, obtaining a strong foundation to work with organizations throughout the Valley to change community conditions.
