Dear colleagues,

European Visiting Programme (EVP) is one of the first EDSA programmes. It draws dental students from all around Europe who are looking for an exciting and educational international experience. It gives them the opportunity to visit other dental faculties in foreign countries for a couple of days or weeks with an educational purpose. Through this exchange programme some of the main EDSA objectives, such as making new friends and improving cooperation and flow of information among dental universities, is achieved. This programme is for european undergraduate students, whose universities are members or observers of EDSA (on the webpage of EDSA there is a list of member and observer universities). Furthermore, a dental student who applies for EVP should be able to demonstrate that he/she has some academic background and personal qualities in order to become a successful exchange student. All applicants must meet the following general requirements, as well as any specific requirements of the host university they are applying for. To qualify for participation in the EVP, a dental student must be currently enrolled in a degree programme and must be of at least an average academic standing. Also he/she should have the capacity to act as an ambassador for their own country and must be willing to abide by the rules and regulations of the EVP what includes adjusting to different cultures, systems, lifestyles and living conditions. This will also make the student's exchange experience more enjoyable. EVP gives participants opportunity to travel abroad and an all-access pass to discover and explore a new culture. Students get the chance to broaden their views and to develop ability to adapt to a different environment. Hosting dental schools sets up a programme for the foreign students which includes visits to the various departments of the university, sightseeing and a social programme. During their stay at the hosting university, students will be able to observe and appreciate other methods of practicing and teaching dentistry. Students can observe and gather proper knowledge from what they see, but they are not allowed to work on patients on clinics during their exchange. During the experience abroad, early friendships are strengthened and new friends are made at events organized by LOC in the host country. Students are given the opportunity to build meaningful connections with everyone they meet during their experiences abroad. At the end, all those students, who participated in the EVP during the academic year, receive an exchange certificate and should submit an assessment report with a few photos attached. 3

Available Universities, that are willing to accept students for EVP, in EDSA member or observer countries, are listed in this EVP brochure. If you want to visit a foreign university as part of the EVP and you think you meet all the requirements, first you should get in touch with the official EDSA delegate at your university. Let him /her know where you would like to go for the exchange. He/she should then contact the delegate from the university you would like to visit and arrange details of the exchange (arrival and departure day, number of incoming students, the schedule at the host faculty, accommodation, etc). If your faculty is not member nor observer of EDSA, but located in Europe and you want to take part in the EVP, you should contact ExCo in order to become a member or observer of EDSA. Even if your faculty is not located in Europe, your faculty can still become an observer and you can still take part in EVP.

If you have any further questions don’t hesitate to contact the EVP officer at evp_officer@edsaweb.org.

Kind regards,

Mohamed Hattab European Visiting Programme Officer 2015-2016 European Dental Students’ Association Tel: +37122062783
