Cycle One

Hello & Welcome

E

dtistic is founded by AaronnySh and Didorth as to seek out the best in imvu world for great artistic expression. Both Didorth and AaronnySh are artistically trained in real life and wished to pass out creativity to the fellow community, thus creating this competition to seek and support for such talents. After months of preparation and consideration, edtistic is waiting to embark on this journey for exploring the best of the best in imvu world. At the start, the host Ronny and Didorth had a dream, and it blooms as time flies. This is the end of the road of this vision, but is it truly the end? Over the past few months, we have witnessed all forms of artistic expression. We are proud to say we did what we aimed for from the start. There is for sure some rise and falls along with bumps along the road, but we are proud to say congratulations to everyone that pulled through.

H O W T H I S WORKS There will be 6 rounds to test and challenge your creativity and skill. Each round will at least give you 2 weeks in total to finish your entry. We know making art takes time, so take your time and bring your best to us. In each round, will provide 2 to 3 set of models, a set includes 10-15 different poses of screenies. All you have to do, is based on the given theme and choose a model you want to work with, and then spread your wings on it. (This also means that you’re not allow to do your own screenies.) We don’t eliminate people. Instead, we keep record on all the scores you’ll be given after each round, and by the end of this journey, you will see all the scores adding up and winner will be the one with highest score obviously. This is to prevent everyone got too obsessed on numbers and comparing each others instead of actually making good work. If you want to compare, compare to yourself, that’s who your enemy in this competition.

Saikira This is definitely you. Without even looking at the name of who did the edit I knew this had to be you. You have that style about your edits that uniquely yours and I really love that. I thought this was different and so outside the box and it reminds me of something I did with an optical illusion edit that was inspired by graphic artist and photographer Laura Williams. You took it a step forward and decided to draw on the mirror illusion the rest of your clothing and I thought it was pretty cool thing to do. Some of the things that bother me and my ocd issues is some of the lines on the leg don’t match up. I feel if you were really going for an illusion of some kind then details like that matter in pulling it off. Overall it’s just a tad bit shifted and so going into next week I want you to work on those minor details.

FrankieDelRey I just want to say that your edits never seize to amaze me everyday, and everyday you’re improving. I could see this in an editorial magazine and simply be amazed by the composition and the idea, I would have never thought about it. Just the little detail of seeing that you’re close to the tumble weed, maybe a small silhouette shadow on the pants would have gave it some depths. But other than that, this is a beautiful composition.

Saikira This is good Satanic...real good. I can see the pain and emotion in the piece but from the look on her face and the way her head is tilting up and the white light breaking through the black and the reds I can see a real hope to it as well. Or you could easily flip it around and it could mean that this person once embodied by light is finally embracing her dark side. I almost wish the light was more in tone with the red. Like having a red glow around it fading into the white perhaps. The background I also almost wish it was a bit darker and I think I would have darkened the edges to bring the person’s viewpoint to the focus area. An ol painters trick. But otherwise good work. Just so I give you a challenge going into next week I would like to see what you can do by stepping out of your comfort zone and not doing something gothic.

FrankieDelRey The overall concept of this is lovely and I love the dark themes that surrounds this as well as how you interpreted the disappearance. I would have liked to see the white lighting to be a little more blended at the end, so that it could calmly drain into the red of the background and maybe a little more fading with the bats, the one who are more upfront and closer to the model to be still a bit blended rather than it be already a solid.

FrankieDelRey “I love a good story and this edit would have been a pretty good one however, there’s not much of a story to take out from by simply a minimum of two lines...”

EDITSTIC

Kneck Saikira ”I really love the concept and what you did with it. Its computer/video game like without being super obvious and in your face. I like the pop of color with the green hair, the pop of color with the green eye. It really grabs your attention in a good way...” FrankieDelRey “Futuristic is my life and I do love the execution that has been done here. The 3D effect really pops out in this edit and it really gives it an illusion for it like it’s almost reaching out...” // Edit by Kneck, model by AaronnySh.

SaxefforaFireAngel Saikira ”... What I did like is some of the lightings. Like how in the man in the front who is the most whole I really like the backlight hitting the shoulders and some area’s of the arm but leaving the front darker. Just like how I like the sparks of like on the two males on the side of the arms...” FrankieDelRey “The lighting gives it a supernatural glow, which I do like, however I wasn’t sure if you wanted your concept be about solid beings, because if they were, I would have like to see some shadows as well, not sure If I’ve missed them...” // Edit by SaxefforaFireAngel, model by Didorth.

FrankieDelRey For the amount of time that you placed for this edit, I believe that you’ve done a pretty good job. Little flaws here and there, if you had the time, would have liked to see the flames near the clouds transition a bit better. Would have love to see the ballerina a bit better with her movements, but that balances a bit with the work that you’ve done with the devil. I am happy that you have turned in something that looks finished and well put together, so kudos on that. If you have and comments or concerns, please inbox me and I will get back to you when I come back from out of the country, since where I am going I will not have my phone nor wifi. Thank you very much for understanding! And Good luck to you all!

Saikira I almost didn’t see the movement until I took a second look. Very very clever piece. The one thing I guess I would comment on here is making the movement from angel to devil a bit more clear cause I honestly almost missed it. Also the posing for the devil/demon I don’t think transitioned the best from angel to devil. I know I can’t comment on poses too much since you all are given models but perhaps playing around with selections and different location might have solved that issue but didn’t mark you done for that just a suggestion. Overall though your devil looks hot and I liked it.

EDITSTIC

Seleen666 Saikira ”A little thing that are missing in this edit and the main one would be a shadow to contrast the lighting of the fire. With a dark surrounding and with a big well lit fire, I believe that you should have a sort of halo of light around you creeping in while most of the shadow would be covering your face and front if you know what I mean...” FrankieDelRey “Seleen very very well done. I can see so much improvement from the first edit and I really love the action scene of this def have seen this in the movies before. Your motion was small but I think though small it made an impact....”

// Edit by Seleen666, model by AaronnySh.

Posy Saikira ”A lot of improvement from the first edit. Very smooth and fluid and the theme is well represented in the edit. Would have love to see a different pose that have a bit more movement but this works just as fine...” FrankieDelRey “I think you did a really good job here. It felt to me like a cut out from a movie scence or some up and coming boxer and I liked that. Def a great improvement from last week. Really nothing bad to say about this was an overall good solid job and effort...” // Edit by Posy, model by AaronnySh.

Saikira This was one of my favorites this week and very well done. Its beautiful but creepy at the same time. I love that you played with that aspect, the coloring you choose with it. The one thing I would have loved to see more definition in the hand. I didn’t notice it was a hand on the first couple glances so I think you took out a bit to much of that detail there. But overall. Well done.

FrankieDelRey The colouring and the composition of the two favourite things in this edit. The feeling and depth of the edit and the composition of the model fits well all together. I want to be able to expand your creativity more next time. Hope to see more of you.

Saikira There is the Kartierre I know and love as an editor! Let’s esare last week from the table shall we. I love this. This was totally your catagory and you done it just right. Not much I can say other then very well done!

FrankieDelRey Happy to have you back! I really love the composition of this and I can see where the inspiration came from. The little dose of colour really brings out the edit. Only thing that bothers me is the jagged part of the hair, everything else look smooth then there’s that little part. But other than that, this is really A+

I can see that you went all out on this and and it shows the progress of what you did at the first round, kudos to you my dear. For me, this is a colour block painting, which is quite a concept that’s very nice to see...”

FrankieDelRey You’re never one to let us down when it comes to editing and I can say that this is pretty rad. Even with the text that you gave it a touch of surrealism. The mirror effect with the foot is quite top notch as well as the TV feed in both the TV Heads ( I have a weakness for TV head aesthetics ), would have liked to see a bit more shadow, but depending on how the lighting in the room is, not quite sure. Really love the background. Nice Job.

Saikira At first I wasn’t a fan. But I mulled over it and looked closer at it, mulled some more and became a fan! It’s extremely clever but I also feel its missing something. Could be more shadows or maybe, even more, play with lighting or a swing lamp in the opposite end or something extra. But other than that. Good work!

49

EDITSTIC

Psyrena Saikira ”This is very cute. Be careful of the shadow’s position however, the one in the distance would have a smaller shadow than the ones in the front...”

// Edit by Psyrena, model by Didorth.

FrankieDelRey “This is honestly my most fav thing ever. I love the idea, the concept the artistry. I want this as a painting on my wall. From week one until now I see so much growth and Im very proud and I hope you are to!...”

EDITSTIC

Seleen666 Saikira ” Had to put glasses on for this on because it felt like it was moving for me. I really like the melted like scene for this as it fits well with the colour, would have like to see the model a little more clear but I can see where your creativity was coming from.” FrankieDelRey “I have to say I am really surprised by this. It’s like liquid art and it’s totally unique and different. I had to actually research online a bit to see if this even fit into the surrealism theme...”

FrankieDelRey I was very blown away from your edit and I say that this is very creative. It’s the classic Dark VS Light but you gave it a twist and with a beautiful presentation, I can say that this is your best work. It’s fluid and it interacts, with the subtle bit of magic. I have nothing else to say here. Great Work.

Saikira I both love this but also find issues with the overall concept at the same time. I love the creativity and the overall look of the edit is wow. However, I’m not sold on the co-existence because it seems a bit off. I would really love more of an explanation of it if you wanna send it to my inbox because as I am looking at it I see an underwater being feeding what appears to be electric or some kind of energy to an under earth being. And I’m not quite getting the connection as to why one would need the other. How are both these being co-existing with each other? But outside of that, I think it’s a beautiful art piece and I think the edit is well done I’m just not seeing the connection so I am going to be as far as I can in scores. I would really love to know what the thought was for this its wracking my brain unless it is meant to be that way haha!

56

EDITSTIC

// Edit by Kartierre, model by Didorth.

I decided to link my two edits and tell a story by adding a degree of interaction between them. My inspiration was the style of the screenies; the idea came quite spontaneously as I was experimenting with different combinations. The story behind my edits are up to your interpretation.

Mythology and my best friend. I've been drawing and painting since I was a child. Entered art shows and as a place winner of those shows I've had my art displayed in a museum for a short time. I find drawing and writing poetry relaxing. On IMVU i wanted ways to express myself in my own way and that is how I happened upon modeling and editing. Art pieces speak to people in different ways allow it to take you on an unique journey known only by you. In the end you will be glad you did.

Saikira “This is your best work in the competition! I adore both of the edits and I love where you went with it and it very much reminds me of Air & Water Elementals... Otherwise, I love it...” FrankieDelRey “Really love the Water/Wind element that you have going on here. Just be careful with the shadow in the water edit however, seeing that you’re in water, there wouldn’t be that much shadow unless you’re close to the ground, and it would pretty much show only on the ground... Nice work. ” // Edit by SaxefforaFireAngel, model by Didorth.

EDITSTIC

What truly inspired me for this round of edits was the coexistence of darkness and light you can not have one without the other. So the existence of both is essential.Just like you can not have good without evil. In this edit, I chose to portray both co-existence themes.

I started out in photography in real life while in junior high and high school as a way to express myself. It was my outlet when that part of my life was rough spending it away from family in a private school. I needed something positive to turn to and that was it. After starting photography I moved on to painting. My first work of art was one of Stonehenge which took 3 months to complete. When I started Imvu I would constantly look at the graphic art that people were doing and I wanted to give it a try. The few hundreds of attempts, to say the least, were not that good at all but as time went on I got a little better. I have learned many things in the past few years. I still struggle with others but part of learning is pushing your self to grow. // Edit by ValoraRavenHexx, model by Didorth.

ValoraRavenHexx

Saikira ”First thing I have to say here is that I felt this was something super obvious to do. There is a lack of creativity in pushing the behind the obvious angel/dark angel type thing. Other than that I think you did a good job with the edits. Both avi are floating a bit on top of the background to be sure to watch that...” FrankieDelRey “I’m weak for the Angels and Demons trope, however I felt that you could have done more for this. Be careful with the shadow and lighting, especially with these types of background. Shadows and lighting are practically never solid, it would have a slight blur with the edges that they have...”

aim to bring an element of originality and innovation in every artwork I create. Art was always a hobby of mine, but I never took it seriously (and still don't) - it's merely a fun way for me to express mind and my style whenever I get the time. Conceptual and abstract pieces that boldly convey a message are what I enjoy creating most.

I'd also like to thank the owners of this competition for providing me with the opportunity to showcase and improve on my work, both judges for providing constructive feedback after every challenge (I understand the hard work put into judging, so I really appreciate it) and also the talented contestants who motivated me to do better each week.
