Visitors centre and hostel in Mallorca. Curriculum vitae. Academic. Professional. Photography. year: July 2015 / thesis project location: Serra de Tramuntana, Mallorca, Spain The cultural landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana is the fruit of the exchange of knowledge between cultures, with small-scale works performed collectively for a productive end, conditioned by the limitations imposed by the physical medium. Such limitations have, more often than not, been overcome by knowledge and the intelligent use of resources, without destroying the medium. Recently declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO under the Cultural Landscape category, it is necessary a facility to provide information to tourists and locals who visit the site. Furthermore, the same building will contain a hostel for hikers who cross the hiking trail kown as the Dry Stone Route GR-221. The project is approached from four main points: landscape, dry stone, possessi贸 (typical Mallorcan countryside house) and self-sufficiency. The formal result is the generation of four terraces that hide the building inside. Following the idea of a possessi贸, a central atrium located on the lowest level distribute throughout the program.

Housing in Poblenou, Barcelona. Curriculum vitae. Academic. Professional. Photography. year: June 2012 / 3rd year location: Poblenou, Barcelona, Spain The aim of the project was to design 60 dwellings in the industrial fabric of Poblenou neighbourhood. The answer given tries to recover the history of the borough, so blurred nowadays due to the creation of the technological 22@ district. On one hand, the old fractional plot lines perpendicular to Pere IV Street, one of the older streets to get into Barcelona, so damaged by Cerda’s Eixample, are recovered. Materials used include corten steel and craft bricks, creating this industrial look the district used to have. On the other hand, history is also understood through the public space, now almost non-existent. A large empty space accessible from the four surrounding streets forms a new square in the neighbourhood, bounded by dwellings and facilities, reusing existing industrial heritage present in the block.
Apartment refurbishment in Palma. Curriculum vitae. Academic. Professional. Photography. year: February 2016 / under construction location: Palma de Mallorca, Spain A former 35 square meters office to be reconverted into a modern and spacious apartment for one person, which includes a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom and a bedroom with an open balcony overlooking the breathtaking of a quiet street just a stride down from the beautiful Palma downtown. Each cm. was carefully planned and thus the apartment includes no built walls except for the bathroom. The rest of the space is cleverly segmented by a specially designed filter made of rope. As spaciousness was the most important requirement in such a tiny apartment, no bulky furniture pieces were used: the kitchen is solved with shelves in order not to disturb when one gets into the apartment, and the wardrobe is opened to the room. The concept is blended with minimalism and industrial.

House in El Poal. Curriculum vitae. Academic. Professional. Photography. year: October 2014 / under construction location: El Poal, Catalunya, Spain collaboration with: CAPDEVILA+PIJUAN arquitectes The old barn of the family was about to change its traditional use to a new house for a family of three. To respect its history, conscious efforts were deliberately made to retain details of time manifestation and proudly display building materials that many try to conceal. The existing building is 18 meters deep and 8 meters hight, and is divided in two blocks. The interior faรงade is demolished to extend the main block, which contains the house. The smaller block hosts a garage on the ground floor and a terrace on the first floor. The access is located in this new section. Areas for sporadic use and storage are placed on the ground floor, while the day zone is located on the first floor. Dining room and living room are connected to the porch and the terrace facing the best views. Sleeping area is placed on second floor. The first and second floors are directly related with a double height, containing an open staircase and a study area.

Hotel in Rio de Janeiro. Curriculum vitae. Academic. Professional. Photography. year: December 2012 / planning approved location: Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil collaboration with: SPOL Architects The hotel Aprazivel is a landscape experience. All buildings and rooms are defined by their unique relationship to and integration of and in the landscape. Each room is characterized by its unique relation to the landscape, a garden, a patio, a view or a lavish terrace. A room in the garden. A garden in your room. Hotel Aprazivel is a collection of unique pieces of architectures and unique experiences in the landscape. Uniquely Brazilian. Diverse and rich in expression and architecture. Enjoying heritage while embracing the future. It is not a hotel with a garden; it’s a botanical garden for you to live in. We are providing a spot in the garden rather than a room in a hotel.
Administration centre in Maranhão. Curriculum vitae. Academic. Professional. Photography. year: June 2013 / competition location: São Luis, Maranhão, Brazil collaboration with: SPOL Architects + AND-RÉ The new Maranhão Administration Centre (CAE) shall symbolize the new consolidation of all the state’s central administrative offices. The new CAE shall be a reference for employees, inhabitants, visitors, users and officials. An essential move is to design a collective identity that becomes the symbol of the new consolidated administration. One that favours exchange, interconnection, clarity and strength. Our design shifts the current condition from a collection of desolated office buildings stranded in a sea of parking to a place of unity. One simple move releases an apparently infernal situation. The ring unites the existing buildings, creates clear orientation, access and circulation. In its centre a piece of nature. Inside, the ring offers an efficient and flexible office plan. Without start or ending, the plan is adaptable to any future changes. The deep plan is efficient solution to the varied functions of the complex. Below, the ring organizes a series of communal facilities; restaurants, cafés, visitor centre, auditorium, exhibition library and entries.
