CULTURAL PROGRAMME The Cultural Programme is scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Cultural contents include: lGuided cultural walks around the most singular and cultural areas of Madrid downtown: Cathedral, ancient heritage Churches, Museums, the Royal Palace, UPM Museums and Art Galleries etc. lDay trips to sightseeing attractions in the nearby areas of Madrid. lWeekend trips to Barcelona, Seville (optional). lAnalysis about Spanish stereotypes and customs lSpanish films screening. lSpanish contemporary art painting tendencies. CULTURAL PROGRAMME TIMETABLE Friday, 6th July l10:00h– 11:00h .- Guided visit to FÉLIX CAÑADA” Art Gallery The art gallery is the fruit of a donation of over one hundred paintings and sculptures dating from the 16th to the 20th centuries located at the Fundación Gómez Pardo. (Students Residence Hall) l11:00 – 14:00.- Seminar “Spanish contemporary art painting tendencies: Theory and Practice”, conducted by Natxo Arteta, Spanish contemporary painter http://natxoarteta.blogspot.com/ . l19:30h – 22:30h - Guided tour/City Rally around Madrid downtown (organized by BEST- MADRID International Students Group, UPM). Sunday, 8th July l12:00h– 15:00h Guided tour around “Hapsburg Madrid”: The Golden Art Triangle II. National Museum “Centro de Arte Reina Sofía”: Picasso´s masterpieces. PROGRAMME Spanish Language and Culture Courses designed for international students intending to start or continue their studies on Spanish Language at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, or for those who intend to take a term/year at any Spanish university and need to have a previous knowledge of Spanish communicative skills.

PROGRAMME SCHEDULE.

The programme is a 4-week course covering Spanish language and cultural components run by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid during the month of July, combining language and culture face to face lessons with outdoor cultural activities The programme includes: lSpanish Language course run by experts in Spanish communication skills. lIndoor/Outdoor Cultural Activities. lAccommodation in the University Students Hall.

SPANISH LANGUAGE PROGRAMME METHODOLOGY The programme applies the Blended Learning methodology, which combines classroom face-to-face tuition with individual and group activities via the AVE (Virtual Spanish Classroom) programme. (Instituto Cervantes) DURATION One month course: 120 hours (4 weeks), divided as follows: lSpanish Language and Culture lessons: 60 face-toface hours lTeam work tutored activities: 10 hours lOnline individual activities: 30 hours lOutdoor cultural activities: 20 hours.

VENUE Classes will take place at the downtown UPM Campus (city center), in the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales and/or in the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Minas.

The course enrolment fee covers: lLanguage Programme tuition lTeaching materials (textbooks and photocopies) lComplementary teaching materials lTalks and films attendance. l90-days License to use the AVE programme and online tutoring lAccess to the E T S I MINAS ’s Computer Rooms for individual and team projects lAccess to the university services (library, Internet, sports facilities, etc.) lCultural programme, including museum tickets lCertificate of achievement with the obtained grade and accomplishment. lAccommodation: 28 nights, (1st to 28th July): Single room with in suite bathroom and Breakfast in University Residence Hall. lFarewell Party (Closing Ceremony) organized by PROLINTER.

EVALUATION AND CERTIFICATES Students will be issued with a Diploma / Certificate based on their attendance and performance stating the course level and attained grade signed by PROLINTER UPM. ACCOMMODATION

Students will be required to take a level test at the start of the course.

The accommodation is located in the city centre, by “Ríos Rosas” Metro station, in the Student Residence Hall Fundación Gómez-Pardo, including bed&breakfast.
