Global Young Leaders Course Boys and girls aged 14-17 Our Global Young Leaders course, now in its fifth year, combines English lessons with debating and critical thinking. The course is aimed at students with an upper-intermediate to advanced level of English and any level of public speaking and debating experience. The public speaking and debating activities are led by our mentors who are experienced debating coaches from top universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. This two-week programme combines English, public speaking and debating to improve confidence in written and spoken English, and to provide a deeper understanding of important world issues.
The unique feature of this course is that it combines English classes, taught by qualified specialists, with debating and critical thinking seminars, workshops and competitive debates led by highly skilled mentors. Using this approach, students are mentored in developing arguments, applying persuasive techniques and expressing their ideas to convince an audience.
I had a really great time at Global Young Leaders. The classes, the competitions and the excursions were fun and I really hope to go back next year. I had the best time of my life in those two weeks. Debora, Switzerland.

Three hours of English for debating per day Three hours of debating lessons and activities per day Theme-related seminars and guest speakers Varied social programme: disco, quiz, talent show Two full day excursions per week to: London, Oxford and Cambridge
Each day, lessons take global themes such as politics, ethics, economics and law, providing the framework within which students can explore the policies and ideologies that influence the world around them. The international perspective brought to bear by our students, based on their diverse backgrounds, enriches the understanding of the group as a whole.
In debating lessons, students take part in group discussions, speaking activities and leadership exercises to develop key public speaking skills including structuring arguments, choosing appropriate styles and using rhetorical strategies. All of these are practised through competitive debates, after which mentors provide detailed feedback to individual students.
English lessons focus on vocabulary and grammar and by analysing different media sources, including texts, speeches and interviews, different opinions are examined whilst reading and listening skills are improved. All English teachers are suitably qualified and work closely with debating mentors to ensure that debating and English lessons are closely integrated.
In the evening, students relax and mix in social activities run by our activity leaders, including sports options and events such as quiz nights, discos and talent shows.
