Rossall Summer School is an intensive English language programme combined with fun activities and cultural excursions. It runs for eight weeks in the summer holidays on our stunning coastal campus with plenty of space to explore. We recommend that each pupil stays for a minimum of two weeks. We teach in small classes (no more than 10 students per class) ensuring each pupil receives individual attention.

Accommodation and Meals: Whilst at Rossall Summer School you will live in comfortable single or double rooms in our supervised boarding houses. There is a separate house for boys and a separate house for girls. Each house contains a TV, DVD player, kitchenette for making snacks and drinks, games facilities and computers with internet access. You will eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in our Harry Potter style dining hall each day. A sample of our menu is shown below: Breakfast

Campus Facilities Rossall Summer School is located on a 160 acre site, ideally situated on the picturesque coastland of North West England. Beautiful evening sunsets are admired by pupils from all over the world who visit the Summer School on our very own beach. The spacious campus has extensive sports and recreation facilities which include a heated 25m indoor swimming pool, squash courts, tennis courts, Fives courts, brandnew all-weather sports pitch, two indoor sports halls, extensive sports pitches for football, cricket and rounders, and a fitness room.

Pre-Sixth Form Intensive Mathematics Course 2011 Course Objectives This Pre-Sixth Form Intensive Mathematics Course has been specifically designed by Rossall School for students who intend to study mathematics at Sixth Form level either within the International Baccalaureate Diploma or A Level programme and need a little extra coaching to get them up to the required level for the course. Our aim is to ensure that students have a solid foundation in the key mathematical areas of Numeracy, Algebra and Statistics. The intention is not necessarily to introduce new material, but to enable students to consolidate and refresh their skills prior to starting their demanding Sixth form courses.

There is a planned and supervised excursion on Sunday 28th August. Course Options and Fees The Pre-intensive Maths course will start on Friday 26th August with boarders arriving on Thursday 25th to allow a prompt start on Friday morning. The course ends after lunch on Saturday 3rd September. You may want to attend parts of the course, or the complete course covering all three subjects. Course length 9 Day course

Admission Requirement Students must be accepted onto either the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme or the A-Level Mathematics course at Rossall's Sixth Form or at another British School in the UK. If you have not sat an entrance exam for Rossall a test paper will be supplied for you to check if you would benefit from the course. Excursions Travel, food and group activities are included in the course fees. Additional drinks, refreshments, souvenirs and personal shopping are extra and should be paid for by the student. There will be an optional trip to London on Wednesday 3rd August. This is at an extra cost of £80. There are limited places for this trip which will be allocated to students who sign up first. We will go on one excursion per week and destinations are likely to be: • The ancient city of York with its history and charm • The exciting city of Liverpool with its art galleries and Beatles museums • The fashionable city of Manchester with its shops and football clubs • The picturesque Lake District with its outstanding natural beauty • The historical city of Chester with its ancient Roman background • The Bronte Country, home of one of England's most famous family of writers, the Bronte's. • Leeds, the Gateway City to Yorkshire • Shop til you drop at The Trafford Centre, Manchester
