Advanced Diploma SPINs The career-oriented English classes outlined below take place during the SPINs. Please note that availability may vary. Principles of International Affairs Students will be introduced to the modern history of international affairs, the development of the world as we know it today and the emergence of globalization. You will analyze the key milestones in the development of international treaties and institutions while also learning the importance of positive international relations by studying past mistakes in the global arena. Political Science This course will explore the cultural, political and economic dynamics in the field of Comparative Politics. In particular, your understanding of political systems, the effect of

globalization and identity will be developed through the use of contemporary examples as depicted in documentaries, lectures and news reports. Global Governance Students will discuss the impact of globalization on our daily lives and the larger world order by studying two key events: the global financial recession of 2008 and the growing impact of terrorism and counterterrorism since 9/11. Lessons will focus on key issues surrounding international peace and security, arms control, sustainable development, climate change and saving the environment. The course will also look at human right implications, global pandemics and the UN responsibility to protect. Human Rights Through active discussions and activities, this course explores the historical development of human rights, the ramifications of universal human rights on sovereignty and development, and the role of the individual in global change. Regional Perspectives In this module students will analyze the changing relationships between nations from hostility, competition, and colonization to international cooperation. An ongoing, in-depth global monitoring project will help

develop essential analytical and research skills. Internship/Volunteership An internship or volunteership in your chosen industry is included in the program. The placement, which takes place during your last term, can be part or full time while the duration varies per destination and company. Examples: Non-Profit Organisations, Public Organisations.Please note that these are only examples and no particular placement is guaranteed.
