1965

That first language course in Bournemouth feels like yesterday. I never imagined that 50 years later EF would grow so much and help millions of people study abroad, learn a language, discover a new culture and make friends all over the world. I’m really honored to have taken part in EF’s story and in its mission of opening the world through education.

LEADING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

BERTIL HULT EF FOUNDER

EF launches its unique teaching method, the EF Efekta™ Learning System, in 2005, establishes the EF Research Unit at the University of Cambridge Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics in 2009. EF students learning English in 1980

EF’s graduating class of 1970

1978

After all these years, I’m still in touch with my homestay hosts. I’ll never forget how welcoming they were during my stay – including me in family dinner and even taking me out on their boat. I’m always surprised by a birthday card from them, every year without fail.

MORGAN FEXBY, SWEDEN FORMER STUDENT

CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT EF is selected as the Official Supplier of Language Training Services for the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, 2014 Sochi Olympic Games and 2016 Rio Olympic Games. EF spirit at the 2008 Beijing Olympics

ENHANCING LANGUAGE EDUCATION

THE WORLD IS WAITING

EF produces language learning tapes for the BBC in 1981, partners with Apple on computer-aided language learning initiatives in 1995 and incorporates iPads into the classroom in 2011.

ABOUT EF

2013

I studied English for eight years before my trip – but learned so much in just the first few weeks at EF London. I’m finishing my studies in Switzerland and these last two years will all be in English. My trip abroad definitely prepared me for my international future.

Level: Beginner to Advanced Start date: Every Monday, year round Length: 2 to 52 weeks Online pre-course: from enrolment Online post-course: 6 months included for all Intensive English courses. Description: Make maximum progress during your stay abroad. Highly recommended for serious students who need to learn a language as quickly as possible for academic reasons. Our highly structured syllabus, comprised of 32 morning and/or afternoon lessons a week (total tuition time of 21 hours and 20 minutes), will have you speaking and writing with confidence in the least amount of time.

Most popular

Why is EF Intensive our most popular course? Because not only do you maximise the amount that your language skills improve, you also gain valuable time to practise with fellow students. This extra interaction enables you to communicate in a natural way, faster than on other courses, and in the process form lasting friendships. How many weeks should students enrol for an EF Intensive Course? The longer you study, the more you will improve, guaranteed. That’s why students seeking advanced language skills enrol for a minimum of 3 to 6 weeks, allowing them to improve faster. A 6-week course allows most students to advance one full EF level of ability, and many intensive students choose to achieve greater fluency with courses of 3 months or more.

Description: This carefully composed course is designed to help you move up one EF course level of ability every six weeks. EF’s General Course includes 26 morning and/or afternoon lessons weekly, blending classroom and teacher-guided lessons in iLab (total tuition time of 17 hours, 20 minutes). The focus is on communicating clearly in everyday language.

Description: Combine plenty of free time abroad with 20 morning and/or afternoon language lessons a week (total tuition time of 13 hours and 20 minutes). This course concentrates on understanding and speaking the language in practical situations.

BRISTOL Bristol is a thriving University town and its riverside setting lends itself to unique features like dockside pubs and floating dance clubs. The historic port is famous for the underground art scene pioneered by hometown hero Banksy, and this edgy, creative spirit is evident in downtown’s offbeat boutiques and alternative music scene. Right out the door of our school is the central park of Queen Square.

With its legendary literary tradition, cool club scene and landmarks like St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin is the pride of the Emerald Isle. But after you’ve shopped the markets of Temple Bar and toured iconic Guinness Brewery, you may find that what you remember most is the people.
