A Teacher on the Road isn’t just an educator – they’re a cultural expert with exciting tales of overseas adventure to tell. When they join forces with language teachers, they’re guaranteed to ignite students’ passion for learning. It’s a winning partnership... and best of all, it won’t cost you a thing.

WHAT IS A TEACHER ON THE ROAD?

WHAT MAKES A TEACHER ON THE ROAD SPECIAL?

An EF Teacher on the Road is a full-time professional educator who can bring a wealth of cultural knowledge and language instruction techniques into your classroom for free. It’s the ideal way to add an extra element of excitement to your existing language curriculum. Your guest teacher will stay with you for up to two weeks, igniting your students’ passion for learning with exciting lessons that focus on your choice of either language or culture.

Each Teacher on the Road is carefully chosen for the in-depth knowledge of their native culture, which they’re well-versed at sharing with your students to expand their love of language. In addition, EF Teachers on the Road are full-time language educators – so they know what it takes to keep students focused and engaged, especially when tackling difficult language rules and concepts.

HOW TO... REQUEST A TEACHER ON THE ROAD It’s easy to invite a guest educator from EF into your school, free of charge: just follow these simple steps:

1

Visit our dedicated Teacher on the Road website at www.ef.com/invitetotr and make your request

2

Your nearest EF office will get back to you as soon as possible to finalize timings and logistic details

3

We’ll find a teacher for your school, send you their profile and get in touch to prepare you for their visit

Having trouble making your request? Send an email to XXXX@ef.com or give us a call at XXX XXX XXX XXX.

11/20/14 9:06 AM

My students were delighted to have a guest teacher in their classroom. They loved the stories she had to tell, and every one of them told me how much her lessons had made them want to become fluent in another language. Nancy Descazals Teacher, France

I feel so lucky to be able to connect with students from other countries. I love getting the chance to introduce them to concepts they’ve never heard of before. My favorite part? When they ask me for more travel stories once the lesson is over! Sabine Biederman Teacher on the Road, Germany

The Teacher on the Road’s passion for language learning was infectious – I’ve never seen my students so engaged before! Sometimes it’s hard to communicate the value of language but I think our guest educator really got the message across.

The best part of my job is being able to share my culture with students from other countries. I use my personal experiences to help students understand the way language is used in everyday life – it’s so satisfying to see them excited about learning.

EF’s Know Your Pronunciation chart of English sounds is divided into three groups: monophthongs on the top left and diphthongs on the top right—which together are the vowel sounds—and consonants occupying the bottom three rows. The boxed vowel sounds are used in British English, but not usually in North American English. The shaded vowels are used in North American English, but not in British English.

My students were delighted to have a guest teacher in their classroom. They loved the stories she had to tell, and every one of them told me how much her lessons had made them want to become fluent in another language. Nancy Descazals

I feel so lucky to be able to connect with students from other countries. I love getting the chance to introduce them to concepts they’ve never heard of before. My favorite part? When they ask me for more travel stories once the lesson is over! Sabine Biederman

Teacher, France

Teacher on the Road, Germany

The Teacher on the Road’s passion for language learning was infectious – I’ve never seen my students so engaged before! Sometimes it’s hard to communicate the value of language but I think our guest educator really got the message across.

CONNECT AND ENGAGE The EF Youth Leadership Forum brings together outstanding students from all over the world and gives them an opportunity to become better global leaders: The EF Youth Leadership Forum 2015 took place in New York, USA. In 2016, the selected students will meet in Rio, Brazil.

Writing & preparation tips • Before you start writing your review, make a list of what elements you are going to evaluate. What is good or bad about the product/service? For example, in a movie review you can evaluate things such as acting, directing, special effects, camera work, plot, entertainment value. In a book review you can examine plot, character development, writing craft, use of language, poetic devices. For a restaurant review, you can look at the menu, food quality, service, setting, prices, etc. • If two elements blend together, for example menu and food quality, you can combine both in one paragraph. • Be authentic, informative, and specific to the product/service you’re reviewing. Describe what other people are likely to find based on your own experience and highlight what makes it special. • If your review is primarily negative, be sure to warn readers about the product’s/service’s downfalls in a respectful and constructive manner. • If writing about a book, film or play, do not spoil the ending!
