EF is founded in Sweden by Bertil Hult. He brought a group of Swedish students to Brighton, England. The idea was simple – they would learn English while traveling on holiday.

EF becomes truly global, establishing itself not only in Europe and North America, but also in Mexico and Japan.

EF is the official Language School of the Seoul Summer Olympics, EF's first of many Olympic appointments.

Hult International Business School is founded by EF and today is proudly recognized as the first triple-accredited business school in the U.S.

Your first language learning adventure! Get ready to see the world with EF. A course designed for you EF’s International Language Courses for younger learners are designed with the needs and interests of students aged 13-16 in mind. Each course offers you travel choices, accommodation options and a range of daily supervised activities and excursions. For unsupervised time, eg. travelling to and from school independently, we provide students with guidance on how to look after themselves and all students have our 24 hour emergency telephone number..

We closely monitor our homestay and residential accommodation, and the EF team meets students regularly to ensure that they are benefitting from their stay. EF has been actively involved in the development of standardized quality norms for providers of language travel within Europe – the European Committee for Standardization (CEN).
