Roma – Location and how to get there • Situated right in the heart of Rome • Only footsteps away from the most historical and well-known monuments in Italy • Rome’s main airport, Leonardo da Vinci, is in Fiumicino, only 30 kilometres away from the city. The easiest way to reach Rome is by a direct train to the Termini railway station and tickets are only 9 €. Taxis normally charge approximately €40 for the same journey. The city’s second airport, Ciampino, is mainly served by low-cost airlines and package tours. Tickets are normally €7 one way. The regular buses depart from the nearby underground station Anagnina for €1. A taxi ride from the airport and central Rome takes 20 minutes and costs approximately just over €32.

EF ROME– Transport Public Transport Average cost commuting: Weekly card 16 Euros Monthly card 30 Euros The name of the local bus and streetcar company is ATAC. All tickets must be purchased from ATAC ticket machines, newsagents, or ticket outlets on the underground. Tickets cost from €1.50 and are valid for 75 minutes. The underground runs until midnight. Night buses stop at stations marked ”N”. Taxis Taxi stands can be found throughout the city centre. It is recommended that tourists only use the licensed yellow and white taxis. An extra fee is payable per suitcase to and from the airport. There is also a surcharge at night, on public holidays and on Sundays. It is cheaper to hail a taxi in the street than at a taxi stand or to book via telephone.

Call +39 06 228 941 to find out which pharmacy is open. • The Post Office is usually open between 09.00-14.30 from Monday to Friday and between 09.30–13.00 on Saturdays. • Tipping is normally recommended – usually 10 to 15 % in restaurants. Tipping in taxis and bars/cafés is optional • Info points can be found all over Rome for all sorts of information!
