EDVINAS BERENIS PORTFOLIO VOL.01 2016
Interior Architecture portfolio vol.01 This is my first book edition containing a several selected residential projects in one book from my projects archive. The idea is in the near future to release another book of another interior design sector. The projects were selected specifically to show a variety of my skills and approach to my projects. Every project in this book starts with a little intro description, brief then followed by concept idea, the development stage and the final project outcome. www.eberenis2000.wix.com/portfolio

READING ROOM

READING ROOM
A space which celebrates books and the act of reading PROJECT: LOCATION: DATE: DEADLINE:
Residential Design Highbury London, UK 2012 3 Weeks
01 The client has many thousands of books, loves reading and wants an area within their home to be converted into a space which celebrates the introspective, personal nature of reading. A client is 28years old, works in the publishing industry and wants a contemporary space not a ‘dusty old library’. Client is keen not to waste the planets resources and has found a supply of timber from a nearby demolished building which he wish me to upcycle. This timber is in sheet plywood form (100 no. sheets, 1200mm x 2400mm, 18mm thick) and additionally, 300 no. square section softwood timber lengths (50mm x50mm x 2500mm length). A client hopes that these materials alone will be enough to create an exciting, modern space that both stores and displays the books and provides an ideal space for client to enjoy them.

LTU HOUSE
By Edvinas Berenis
I had an opportunity to do a job for a private client which was about providing an architecture visualisation image of residential house from pre -made plans and section.
LTU HOUSE
VISUALISING EXTERIOR OF THE LTU HOUSE
PROJECT: LOCATION: DATE: DEADLINE:

Residential Design Lithuania 2014 2 Weeks
I’ve took the challenge knowing that it could be a great experience and responsibility to do it for someone else as well as great advantage for myself to learn and improve more visualisation technique skills while working on this project. I believe that architecture visualisation is a valuable skill to have in design industry because it helps to communicate design concepts to the team or sell final ideas to potential clients. I enjoyed working on this project because I do like 3D modelling and I had opportunity to model this house from scratch a part from plans and sections. The requirement was to combine three types of materials Stucco, Brick, Wood Planks. Stages: Exterior - Modelling Digital 3D Model From Plans/Sections - Combine Three Materials Stucco, Brick, Wood Planks - Composition - Rendering In vRay - Post Production in Photoshop

OBJECTIVES
LTU INTERIOR DESIGNING AND VISUALISING INTERIOR Residential Design PROJECT: LOCATION: Lithuania 2015 DATE: DEADLINE:
03 I enjoyed modelling this house for the previous project and I thought rather throwing this model away I would like to do my personal project. I decided to design at least some of its interior. The idea is to choose one big space on the ground floor and design from scratch using clients reference images. I suppose the client is a family of four people in total, parents and two teenagers brother and sister. Because of their busy schedules they normally gather together after work and school. The kitchen and living room for them is the main gathering point to communicate at the end of the day. They think that a dining area is not so important but the kitchen counter bar is a must in the kitchen. The client previously did not had a dining table but they had a counter bar which was used in the mornings for breakfast and worked very well for family dinner too. Also they have mentioned that they would like to have a displayable space for their souvenirs collected from family trips. The living room is the only room in the house which provides a TV. They have a ‘movie night’ once a week. This is when they gather together to watch new released movies and have fun. PROJECT 03 | 16

The main feature and focal point for a living room area is a custom made wall furniture which will provide closed storage, a space for TV and fireplace and a bit of space for displayable items such as books and speakers. The ceiling above wall furniture is dropped down to win some space for integrated projection screen which is controlled by remote contr. The sofas are not just arranged for best possible convenient conversations but also to have a space at the back for reading books which will provide reading light with a coffee table.
SHELF FURNITURE FRONT ELEVATION SCALE 1:40
The dinning area should be another gathering area for family. The way I designed this area is to have three different focal points. The 1st main focal point are people in front then 2nd focal point is souvenirs on the shelves and 3rd focal point is a TV. I felt that the living area and dinning area needed some separation and I designed shelves for that. The shelves are designed to not abstract much the natural day light for living area. A client has a very lovely tradition of collecting souvenirs from the countries where family have visit. So this shelf will hold the souvenirs and set the family in a very good memories and conversations while they having a dinner.

TWINS
TWINS A PLACE APART A way to live together yet separately, expressing individuality PROJECT: LOCATION: DATE: DEADLINE:
Residential Design London, UK 2012 3 Weeks
04 Task: The client has recently adopted two seven year old boys, identical twins. The boys grew up in a favela (shanty town) in Sao Paulo without parents and are very independent and spirited. The client feels that the boys need their own space, somehow apart from the rest of the house, somewhere that they can call their own. The children can then integrate with the rest of the household when and as they please. The client has purchased two Victorian terrace houses which are intended to become their sole family home. The client wants to design the twins space, somewhere they can sleep, play, complete school work etc, somewhere they feel is theirs, somehow separate from the rest of the house. The house currently has a traditional UK room layout, lounge, kitchen bedrooms etc, although the requirement is only to design the twins room (the client will fit out his bedroom, the kitchen, lounge etc himself) client is happy for you to decide where these other activities occurs within the house. The twins are friends but want their own space, they don’t dress the same or have the same likes, they want to be two different people, they just happen to look identical. A design should include all the facilities of a bedroom (beds, storage etc) and a children’s study (for school work) and allow for the children to play.

TWINS
Traditional favela house shape
To create an additional space for bedrooms and to get an extra access to the other premises I stretch one side of the wall
By stretching this wall it will provide an additional entrance to the space above the bedrooms.
PROJECT 04 | 42
Duplicate to have two bedrooms
Insert those twin blocks into Victoria style building and rise them up to the first floor
At this point I have two bedrooms for twins. The next stage is to create other premises.
Bedrooms will have a window each with interior view to the ground floor where twins will be able to interact with their new parents and gradually adopt to a new environment on the ground floor
Separate entrances in to the boys bedrooms. Use plywood and timber for structure and for representing cheapness and simplicity
Bedrooms will have an each access to the transition floor above the bedrooms. The transition floor will provide other access such as boys bathroom, original house staircase, boys closet on the loft floor.
Make an opening in between blocks for entrance from ground floor
Instead of having two entrance, create a single entrance from the ground floor to the twin blocks on the first floor

Plywood Sheets
Plastered In Concrete Finish Timber and metal structure covered in 18mm plywood sheets. Screwing plywood to the timber structure will show lots of screw heads. Nailing plywood instead may prevent squeaking sound when walking. The solution could be screwing heads a bit dipper in to plywood and then covering screw heads with a plywood buttons this will consume more time and money for labour work
The total area of plywood for this structure is 102 square mitres. The 36 sheets of plywood are used for this whole structure. The 13 sheets for platforms and 23 for partitions. Plywood dimensions: 18mm x 1220mm x 2440mm Price per one sheet £19.20 Total for 36 sheets: £691.20
Timber Partitions The total of 68 timbers are used for partition carcass.
Plastered In Concrete Finish The white areas showing in illustration is a plasterboards screwed to floor joists and then plastered on top in concrete finish
The 46 timbers are in size of 47mm x 100mm x 2400mm priced at £4.30 each The 22 timbers in size of 47mm x 75mm x 2400mm priced at £3.48
Timber Partition Partitions of timber are in two different sizes
The total coast for Carcass timber £274.36
The partition timbers highlighted darker in illustration are 47mm x 100mm, 2’’x 4’’ Timber Joists The 73 planks are used for the structure floor. The size of timber is 47mm x 225mm 2400mm priced at £9.20 each
The partition timbers highlighted lighter in illustration are 47mm x 75mm, 2’’x 3’’
The total price for timber joists £671.60
Steel Metal Support An excising window will be kept and here is a demonstration of the solution for that. The support metal will be placed on the inner brick wall and the steel metal running across house will be rested inside of that support. Both metals will be tighten with the bolts.
Concrete Lintels 4 concrete lintels need to be used for additional openings in the house and to support metal beams in some areas. 3 concrete lintels in size of 100mm x 140mm x 1500mm priced at £15.18 and 1 lintel of 140mm x 215mm x 2700mm priced at £113 Total: £158.54
