The Ku Klux Klan of Reconstruction is still revered in the neo-Confederate movement. Be careful to note in the various declarations and resolutions that they may condemn the KKK but it is worded not to include the past, but instead contemporary groups. Pro-KKK materials have been disappearing from the Sons of Confederate Veteran online store, but care was taken to make sure the offering of these items for sale online was captured by the Internet archive. Here is a link to the movie, “Birth of a Nation,” repeatedly praised by Bivins. Note that it is “Sold Out.” The date is 3/27/2019. https://web.archive.org/web/20190327211154/https ://scv-online-store.myshopify.com/products/dvdthe-birth-of-a-nation-271 This book also offered for sale in https://web.archive.org/web/20190326202622/http s://scv-onlinestore.myshopify.com/products/books-southern-bythe-grace-of-god-297 It also praises not only the Ku Klux Klan but other violent white supremacist groups. This book was referred to as a “treasure” in UDC Magazine, Tindal, Retta D., “Confederate Classics: For Research, Reference, or Refresher,” United Daughters of the Confederacy Magazine, Vol.70 No. 10, Nov. 2007, pp. 15.
The UDC still maintains what they call a “shrine” to the violent white terrorists, The Red Shirts, in South Carolina. Indeed, with the UDC old times are not forgotten.
