WOMEN INJURED BY FATAL DUMP TRUCK ACCIDENT IN TIMES SQUARE In Times Square, Midtown Manhattan, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a dump truck last week. The accident happened at about 3:00 pm on Saturday afternoon. The pedestrian, a 64-year-old woman whose name was not released, was hit by a large dump truck as she was crossing 7th Avenue at the 45th Street intersection. The driver did not stop instantly and, while stunned spectators began shouting at the driver who then stopped and stayed at the scene of the crash, the pedestrian got trapped under the car and pulled by the truck.
TRUCK SIDE GUARDS MAY HAVE SAVED THE VICTIM FROM BEING PULLED UNDER THE TRUCK For pedestrians and cyclists in the area, dump trucks, garbage trucks and other large trucks are among the most dangerous. Fatal accidents frequently occur due to the victim, a pedestrian, a bicycle or a motorcyclist being pulled under the vehicle and crushed by the wheels.
