Located on Anastasia Island, just south of the Amphitheatre on Anastasia Blvd., is where you’ll find Guerrilla Growery, an urban farm run by two ambitious farmers, Chance Ryan and Kayla Cox. Boasting spectacular views of the marsh along the Matanzas River, Guerrilla Growery produces microgreens, herbs, edible flowers and heirloom vegetables using allnatural, organic practices. Though the property is small—nearly a half-acre—Guerrilla Growery has a mighty goal: to achieve self-sustainability via growing healthy food for the community. Likewise, Guerrilla Growery utilizes distinct growing methods and structures, which Chance and Kayla regard as “guerrilla growing.” The two greenhouses on the property are used primarily for germinating and growing microgreens. Microgreens are essentially baby vegetables and herbs which are highly dense in nutrition and flavor. Using minimal resources, and utilizing raised garden beds built entirely from scratch with organic materials, these two young entrepreneurs have engineered a considerable garden without compromising the property’s attractive landscape.

BEAM, or Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry was founded in 1985 by The Beaches Ministerial Association with the help of a generous donation from Henry Blackstock. Assisting local families in times of financial crisis has been the impetus for the growth of their food pantry facilities. To supplement the fruits and vegetables offered in the pantries, two years ago Grace Gardens was created. The gardens include a 6,000 sq. ft. production farm with forty-five 4’ X 12’ raised beds, 8 fruit trees, a fence full of raspberries on the north and blueberries on the south, and an herb and butterfly garden. There is a 16’ x 24’ greenhouse where all of the farm’s plants are started from seed. Shitake mushrooms grow in a shade enclosure. There is also, a newly constructed aeroponic, vertical growing operation. Utilizing 12 vertical towers, the farm now offers their clients, nutrient dense, seasonal greens, year-round. Operating almost exclusively with volunteers, The Grace Garden at BEAM provided more than 7,500 pounds of fresh produce and fruits to their pantry clients in the last year. ARTISAN PARTNER:

CHEW CHEW FOOD TRUCK Chew Chew Food Truck launched in September 2013 by Chef/Owner Blake Burnett is a major part of the Jacksonville food truck scene. They make everything from scratch including sauces and seek out what is local and seasonal for specials. Some are tempted to order those lobster corn dogs which are not really what they sound - there is no hot dog. They are lobster pieces skewered, coated in a thin batter resembling the casing of a corn dog, and then deep fried to perfection. The favors work well with the Kim Chi Slaw which balances the sweet from the sandwich really well. The Bruschetta Grilled Cheese is quite possibly the greatest thing ever conceived on a food truck menu. Combining sweet, sour, and salty flavors is their forte. Come see what they prepare on the farm. An inspired and innovative menu awaits.
