Day 2 – April 27, 2019

It was an intense moment when the rest of the states and countries saw Puerto Rico. There was a traffic of people trading pins, hats, lanyards and even selling some of their stuffs. Puerto Rico finally made inside of the Open Ceremony Event and Edwin Sanabria was in front of the stage to photograph every special moment. Everything went dark, “Ready for It” started playing and the biggest moment begin. The National Officers were presenting themselves and recognizing members and advisors for their hard work, the Flag Parade began, and it was beautiful each state and country. Ben Nemtin was the Keynote speaker of the event that night. He was talking his experiences and how he started his own show with his friends, how he meets Barack Obama and his story was impressive. Everyone got excited when the Blue Man started performing on stage. The Open Ceremony was finished, and traffic began once again. But Puerto Rico made it to the bus and went to their hotel and they rest.

It has been an honor for 2 consecutive years to be accepted and recognize as the Puerto Rico ICDC Social Media Team “Ed Sanabria

Emerging Leaders

Day 3 – April 28, 2019 Third day in Orlando and second for ICDC. This is one of the biggest days of ICDC, the Academies and Competitive Events. Competitors prepare to take exams while members prepare for their respective academies: Aspire, Empower and Ignite. Melissa Goltra, Liz Poeschl and AJ Watson were the Aspire Presenters. One of the rules for the academies were to not sit with your state in the same table. The academy has started, and the presenters were introducing themselves and talking about their experiences in DECA and ICDC. There was one fun activity where 4 members came up front, they all they said: “Who are, who are, who are, you?” and the rest of the members answered: “We are, we are, we are, DECA”. After that, they presenters brought mentors where members asked them specific and personal questions about College, since most of the members were seniors and everyone interacted with each other. Everyone had a break and went for lunch, after that, some members went to Shop DECA, exhibitors and others went back to the academies waiting for the time for the second part to come. The second part of the academy was members that needed a plan to build a machine and talk about the benefits, prices and where to buy them. Some smart fridges, vacuum cleaners, sofas, beagle machines and many more creative ideas. After the academies and competitive events were finished, everyone went to their hotels and prepared themselves to go to Magic Kingdom. After everyone arrived at Magic Kingdom, they went to their separate ways and got onto many rides and had fun. At night, the fireworks show started and it was one of the most beautiful moments of Magic Kingdom. Many colorful lights, the castle lit up and even Tinker Bell appeared. Everyone loved the fireworks, after that, the delegation went to the hotel to rest for another day.

The best way to find yourself , is to loose yourself in the servie of others. It’s being an honor to serve my Enchanted Island, Puerto Rico and my Southern Region.
