SKY Implant system


Every patient has special needs and requirements, which have to be considered when determining the appropriate treatment. Younger patients want esthetic closure of gaps to retain their young look as long as possible. Older patients who are facing edentulousness still want to enjoy life and therefore prefer immediate fixed restorations, allowing them to continue participating in their social life and enjoy eating. The quality of life of edentulous patients could be considerably increased with the help of a firmly fixed prosthesis, especially regarding the quality of their nutrition and the ability to make an untroubled appearance in public. For us, implant prosthetics starts with the preservation of the hard and soft tissue. By effectively fighting bacteria with the HELBO therapy, periodontally damaged teeth can frequently be preserved, and, if this is not possible, the foundation can be laid for reliable early implant placement.

With the right materials for bone augmentation and the new absorbable membrane angiopore, we can also provide you with a possibility to reconstruct bone defects again. Furthermore, it is possible to ensure that implants are positioned correctly from a prosthetics point of view, using our prosthetics-oriented implant planning system SKYplanX, so that the restoration can be carried out in a stable and predictable way.

The SKY solutions

Bridges on atrophied and jaws with low height The use of implants placed at an angle, narrow implants and narrow abutments allows to make optimum use of local bone, reduce the risk of implant placement and enable the fabrication of favorably-priced high-quality fixed restorations on just a few implants.

Removable restorations Complicated bone augmentation measures can be avoided when fixing prostheses using narrow implants or implants placed at an angle, which securely fixes the prosthesis in the local bone. Excellent posterior support provides a high level of wearing comfort.

Short implants The implant neck design of the SKY classic implants (8 mm) allows placement at the supracrestal level so that they can be used in the same way as 6 mm implants. Transversal/occlusal screw-retained bridges In addition to the occlusal screw-retained bridges, there is also the possibility of prefabricated transversal screw-retained bridges, which can be bonded in the mouth in a way to eliminate stress and secure passive-fit.

Individual White-Shade abutments with Off-Peak characteristic The use of SKY elegance abutments allows the quick and simple fabrication of individual White-Shade abutments with proper anatomical designs in the laboratory. The Off-Peak characteristic enables insertion of these abutments immediately after implant placement/exposure to that repeated traumatization of the soft tissue can be avoided.

Narrow gaps Narrow gaps can be closed in an esthetically appealing manner using the new narrowSKY implants and corresponding SKY esthetic S and SKY elegance S abutments.

Highly esthetic ceramic restorations Prefabricated, anatomically shaped ceramic abutments are available for highly esthetic restorations and inexpensive treatment with implants. Special cases can be restored using laboratoryfabricated individual abutments, which feature a titanium base.

SKY classic neck design Prosthetics for every implant position The crest-like design of the SKY classic implant is particularly suitable for trans-gingival healing, as both the epithelial tissue and the connective tissue are optimally attached. The bone is maintained to a high degree by the blasted and etched surface. Through the trans-gingival positioning, this implant is also excellently suitable for use as a short implant in combination with other longer implants, which can also easily be placed at bone level. In this way, it is now possible to anchor the 8 mm SKY classic implants at a depth of 6 to 6.5 mm, so that major and elaborate surgery can be avoided. These implants are available with a diameter of 4.0 and 4.5 mm. Furthermore, the new SKY classic implants simplify implant insertion if the gingiva is only die-cut. In this case, the insertion depth can be controlled more easily than when implants are placed at bone level.

Indication Short implants in an interlocked construction, anchored 6.5 mm into the bone.

The classic SKY implant is ideal to avoid milling off bone in narrow or uneven ridges. The machined section avoids accumulation of plaque to exposed implant necks. In transgingival implant insertion, depth control is made easier. Supracrestale Position

In the case of isocrestal positioning of the implant, the shape of the abutment gains particular importance, in order to achieve optimum attachment of the soft tissue.

narrowSKY / blueSKY neck design

The SKY esthetic abutments offer the ideal prerequisite for this. With the concave-convex hybrid form and the built-in platform switch, the surgical need for greater clearance above the implant is satisfied to achieve optimum attachment of the soft tissue, on the one hand, and this form provides the dental technician an optimum prerequisite to achieve optimal aesthetic results, on the other. The shaping of the gingival proportions is performed either using the SKY esthetic gingiva former or the SKY temp abutment with a provisional restoration, or as an individual gingiva former. Both have the same diameter as the SKY implant platform, so that soft-tissue can neither get caught between the implant and the augmentation while making impressions, nor when integrating the abutments, and thus the precision of the impression and the long-term stability of the implant-augmentation interface are assured. Moreover the SKY esthetic line offers precision-manufactured impression abutments with corresponding diameters for open and closed impressions. This is an impression system comprising a titanium abutment and a plastic cap which has long and short screws for the respective impressions and which exels thanks to the precision during impression taking.

Bone density from hard to soft

It is recommended that the transition area between hard and medium-hard bone is initially prepared using the drills D2-D4. If the torque exceeds 45 Ncm when the implant is screwed in, the implant should be removed again and the cavity extended using D1 drills. The detachable drill stops are arranged so that they can be easily taken up with the drill and fastened with one hand thanks to the cavities in the OP-Tray insert. Insertion concept blueSKY - fast, reliable and atraumatic implant placement blueSKY and SKY classic implants come in double-sterile packaging. They are supplied in a colour-coded carrier with details of the applicable length so that mistakes can be avoided. After opening the Tyvek foil, it can be directly removed using the SKY TK insertion instrument.

Open the new double sterile packaging. Remove the implant with the insertion instrument for the ratchet or the contra-angle.

The implant is inserted and can be screwed in immediately.

Use the same instrument to remove the cover screw ...

... and screw it directly into the implant. Thanks to the smooth cone the screw needs to be only slightly tightened and will not get jammed. Recommended max. torque: 10 Ncm.

Prosthetics Therapeutic concept‌ gapless‌ The success of individual and group prophylaxis throughout the world will radically change the spectrum of treatment in dentists’ practices in the coming years. Young patients, who for various reasons suffer tooth loss, will mostly have healthy adjacent teeth, so that a conventional bridge is not indicated for ethical reasons. Using conventional dental methods, esthetic, individual abutments can be molded and pressed quickly and safely in the for 2 press unit. The low investment costs of the for 2 press unit and the familiar processing steps enable the use in every laboratory. Moreover, prefabricated abutments in the design of the SKY esthetic line will be available from autumn 2013. These abutments can be easily modified by the user in accordance with the gingival line. Therapeutic concept... tempting... Patients who are about to lose all their teeth are a highly interesting customer group for any dental practice. As various scientific studies have shown, these patients are very dissatisfied with their oral health. They often have either a strongly reduced residual dentition, or have severe periodontal damage to the teeth. Periodontosis is the new widespread disease with a dramatic growth rate in the last few years, which mainly affects patients in the 40 to 60-year old age group, who are in the prime of life. Self-centering transversal screw retention Transversal screw retention is a bolting principle. The thread for the bolt screw is located in the bridge framework. The bolt screw (A) and the cylindrical surfaces (B and C) form a compact unit. The prosthetic coping is fixed by triple point attachment with the bolt screw (A) and the short cylindrical surfaces (B and C) to avoid tilting. At the same time, the short cylindrical surfaces ensure that the coping is self-centered (passive fit) when it is placed on. Thanks to the slightly inclined position of the bolt screw, the prosthetic coping is pressed on the abutment platform and gap formation is avoided when it is tightened.

Simple application A click that can be easily heard and felt indicates reliable fit when the framework is attached or removed. Reliable retention thanks to passive fit. The design enables the user to remove and reposition the restoration without removing the bolt screw from the framework, which significantly reduces the risk of swallowing the bolt screws. The design also guarantees fast and simple removal and insertion of the restoration.

In the cervical area they have a short cylindrical section with an index to be used as the basis for the temporary restoration. Prosthetics SKY fast & fixed One would actually expect that most people will become increasingly dissatisfied with their oral situation with a decreasing number of teeth and increasing age. This is not the case, however, as has been demonstrated by the OHIP value, whereby increasing satisfaction has been shown with increasing age. This result is explained in the scientific literature by the fact that in addition to becoming gradually accustomed to an inadequate oral situation, resignation also occurs to a large degree, as dental measures often only have a short-window of success, as the strongly decreasing frequency of consultations to dental practices has also confirmed. In addition, senior citizens frequently have considerably more serious diseases to contend with, such as e.g. cardiovascular disease, diabetes, etc. which is highlighted by the increased frequency of visits to the doctor.

The prosthesis could, however, be stabilised and fixed in older edentulous patients by a few implants and the corresponding retaining elements, such as e.g. locator, stud-head or bar. In patients, who have been edentulous for a longer time, a lot can also be achieved using mini-implants without much surgical effort.

A study of oral health by Dr. Saal in Hamburg on 1,024 corpses at the crematorium brought the alarming result that only 37% of the deceased possessed a good oral state of health, but that 63% had died with a poor or even desolate state of restorations. new The torque ratchet in the SKY prosthetic case for practices ensures that all prosthetic components of the SKY system can be tightened permanently and reliably. The case contains two screwdrivers - short and long for fixation of all abutments as well as the screwdriver for the SKY ball head attachments. The SKY adapter, included in the assortment, is required for use with the SKY Locator速screwdrivers and for transversal screw retention .

The long laboratory handle contained in the SKY prosthetic case for laboratories enables perfect handling and use of the screws on the master models. Appropriate latch-grip screwdrivers are securely held in the adapter for contraangles and can be exchanged easily. As a result, the SKY abutment screws of the SKY Locator 速 and the transversal screw can be easily fastened and unfastened. The screwdriver for the SKY ball head attachment is located at the other end of the laboratory handle.

The solution for badly atrophied jaws and an improved quality of life Quality of life in later years Use miniSKY implants to ensure reliable fixation of the denture and improve the quality of life of your older patients who lost their teeth quite some time ago. All clinical studies 1 and tests have shown that inadequate fit of restorations reduces the quality of life of patients considerably. Persons at the age of 70 or older have been edentulous over numerous years and, as a result, the ridge has become very narrow and placement of stan-dard implants always requires complex surgical procedures, such as bone splinting, etc. Moreover, frequently the general state of health of these patients does not permit major surgical treatment. The diameter-reduced miniSKY implants are perfectly suited for these patients since they allow minimally invasive placement. In numerous cases not more than a small incision to control the bone width is required. The soft line denture worn during the healing phase enables the patient to enjoy enhanced retention of the denture. At the end of treatment, the happy patient is able to eat, speak and enjoy life without any limitations.

The use of diameter-reduced implants is strongly recommended for certain indications. With miniSKY we offer you an implant system that is perfectly matched to these indications and results in better quality of life for your patients with just a few components, a modern surface and an advanced and simple prosthetic concept. miniSKY can be used as a one-piece implant with ball head or as a two-piece implant as well. The mini2SKY offers a choice of Ă˜ 2.8 and 3.2.

Temporary implant Atraumatic insertion and permanent primary stability make the miniSKY implants ideal for splinting the whiteSKY im-plants during osseointegration to avoid any micromovement in free-end situations. In most cases, our patients are willing to accept the temporary titanium implant. Splinting is done using composite layered on glass fiber bands and can be compared to a plaster cast.

Surgical protocol OP-Tray with drills and instruments The new miniSKY OP tray, OT 41, contains all of the drills and instruments needed for inserting the miniSKY implants. All of the instruments can be easily assigned and identified by means of the images and order numbers. The mini²SKY gingiva former completely covers the high precision torx and supports and ideally molds the soft tissue.

The use of the slimline mini²SKY impression abutment enables simple and fast impressions even of very narrow gaps. For the impression of mini²SKY implants, the mini²SKY impression abutment, open tray, (m2SKYPA1) is screwed on the implants and the impression is taken according to the standard procedure for the open tray technique. In order to produce the master model, the mini²SKY implant analog (m2SKYXIA) is screwed to the mini²SKY impression abutment and the model is manufactured from super-hard stone.

Narrow jaws represent a challenge when fixing removable restorations in older, edentulous patients. These patients frequently refuse augmentative measures, or their general state of health requires a procedure that does not involve major surgery. The use of miniSKY Locator® allows minimally invasive implant placement and healing without loading and insertion after osseointegration using the proven Locator®. In combination with the blueSKY placed at an angle, SKY classic posterior implants, and the SKY Locator® angled, it is possible to fabricate implant-supported restorations which offer superior comfort to patients. The mini²SKY Locator® is available in heights of 2 mm and 4 mm and provides special protection against rotation for simple placement of the mini²SKY Locator® on the external precision torx of the mini²SKY implant to avoid screw loosening. The appropriate retaining screw is used for fixation. This ensures that the load is distributed via the precision torx in the implant and the screw is protected from overloading. The original Locator® retention inserts 20° can be used for this procedure.

The miniSKY Locator® abutments are fixed to the implants using Images: m.c. Zahntechnik, Oldenburg (DE) the miniSKY retaining screw. The prosthesis is then manufactured using conventional dental procedures. The Locator® retention elements up to 20° are used for retention.

Everything you need Implants The mini1SKY implants of lengths 6 mm and 10 mm can be inserted firmly in any bone. Surgery The implants are inserted using the insertion instrument after the cavity has been pre-drilled using the twist drill from the SKY OP tray. Impression and model fabrication When making an impression, only the o-ring (SKY-OR55) is attached. The implant analog is pushed into the impression and the model is manufactured. Scan and drilling template The planning matrix fixes the scan and drilling templates securely and precisely. Temporary restoration During the planning phase, the prosthesis in the lower jaw may be further stabilized by using either the SKY precious metal matrix or the SKY o-ring. In the upper jaw, the prosthesis should only be ground out and equipped with a soft relining.
