London Living

London is a city with something for everyone. From the incredible theatre, comedy, vibrant street art, and historical tours, to the buzzing rooftop bars, street food markets, vintage clothing, and jewellery stores – there is truly something for everyone. And, even so, the city has never lost the timeless English charm that casts its spellbinding beauty upon it.

What’s in Wimbledon When renowned British architect Capability Brown designed what we have come to know as contemporary Wimbledon in the 18th century, he wanted to encapsulate a feeling of less formality and a neighbourhood that worked around its natural public landscape – and it’s still a sentiment that resonates today.

Only a brief walk from Phoenix House are the rolling expanses of Wimbledon Park, located next to the All England Lawn Tennis Club, where the Wimbledon Tennis Championships are hosted annually. From here, Wimbledon Village is moments away – and plays host to several outdoor cinemas, food, and music festivals.

This gem in London’s southwest is home to some of the city’s most stunning parks, while also having exceptional transport links into the delights that await in central London. It’s no surprise Wimbledon is an incredibly popular spot for young professionals and families looking to escape from the bustle of the city, without losing the proximity.

Cafe’s, Bars and Restaurants One of London’s trendiest spots for afterwork drinks, a casual brunch, or a traditional Sunday roast – Wimbledon’s streets are littered with an abundance of cafes, restaurants, and bars that have instant kerbside appeal. Both Eggs Benedict and Brew Cafe have become local favourites for their coffee and cakes, while the stunning art-deco inspired interior of The Ivy Cafe is an excellent spot for brunch with friends in a quirky space.

If you’re searching for a classic English pub – the Fox & Grapes and The Hand In Hand are exceptional choices; where homemade pies, burgers, and Sunday roasts are served up in front of the warmth of wood fires and an intimate setting. Wimbledon Village plays host to several great food-spots and has gained many independent retailers over the last few years all looking to establish themselves in the city’s west.

So, while you’ll find the regulars you’ve come to know and love, you’ll never be too far from finding a new cafe sure to become your new favourite.

Transport One of the biggest attractions of Phoenix House is its combination of seamless access to the lights of central London and its connections to the local amenities. Wimbledon Station to London Waterloo is only a 15-minute journey, meaning the city’s most famous landmarks, like Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus are all within a half-hour ride. Less than a five-minute walk from your new home at Phoenix House is South Wimbledon underground station, which services the Northern Line – offering a direct connection to the green spaces of Tooting Bec, or the fun nightlife in Clapham. Wimbledon is also well connected by several TFL Bus Routes servicing the area, meaning the gorgeous Wimbledon Park Golf Course and Mitcham Common are only a brief trip away.

London Living London is a city with something for everyone.

It’s not hard to understand why it is one of the most liveable cities in the world – it is a city unparalleled for its diversity, culture, and innovation. Living in London, you’re equally as close to a dose of history as a great night out with friends, or a new exhibition from your favourite artist. The blend of cosmopolitan with elegance creates a spirit that is pure magic. It’s hard to capture the feeling with words; so why not experience it yourself at Phoenix House.

Education Underneath its leafy facade and buzzing nightlife, the family friendly neighbourhood of Wimbledon also plays home to some of the best schools in London. With excellent connections to the heart of the city, the villagelike feel of the area has proven itself as a brilliant location for families to educate their children.

Wimbledon Park Primary School, less than a ten-minute drive from Phoenix House, has a reputation as being a family-centric school and is also regarded as one of the UK’s topperforming primary schools; while Abermarle Primary School is another nearby school rated as “Outstanding” by Ofsted. For students entering secondary school, King’s

College School was rated as the UK’s best co-education school in 2018 by The Sunday Times and places emphasis on pastoral care and an exceptional co-curricular programme. Wimbledon High School is another high school within a short journey from Phoenix House that offers an outstanding academic programme for young girls.

The Wimbledon area is also home to several well-regarded universities; including Kingston University and the Wimbledon College of Arts – where many undergraduate, postgraduate, and short courses are available.
