a home to celebrate and understand everyone’s uniqueness
SITE LOCATION SITE AREA YEAR SOFTWARES USED COLLABORATORS
IICC, Sector 25, Dwarka 9 Acres Semester 7, 2021 - 22 Autocad, Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, Illustrator Tanya Bansal
A house is the most intimate place to someone. One cannot predict what a person wants. A home should be a safe place for every indiviual. Practically, rather than many typologies, a flexible space would do. Residents must be given opportunities to interact, relax, enjoy, pause etc.
Aikyam, a climate responsive housing is designed to include and celebrate each and every indiviual. Aikyam tries to understand the need and indiviuality of every potential resident and offers the best home possible. Mixed unit typologies on every level paves path for social inclusion. Community terrace at every alternate level increases the spillout space and provied equal opportunities for residents on all floors. Every unit is designed with care to bring maximum natural light and increase. .
Population increased many folds and hence space per person reduced drastically.
Simultaneously, pace of live became faster and more hectic.
Because of the land crunch, construction started growing vertically.
Pandemic hit, and the seculsion got worse.
LONELINESS TO BELONG Use of co-living as a method to test the relationship between different people of the community.
Built Mass
Spaces started to be desgined to seclude in the name of privacy.
Social segregation became a part of lives.
Connecting the two towers
Staggering the mass to get community terraces on alternate
Adding private balconies
The setback area is carefully used as an artistic lane on the main road to connect with maximum people passing by. A central courtyard in form of a performance area provides visual connect with all the floors and hence giving acknowledgement of talent from all. Green terraces provide a serene open space which gives a chance to the people to socialize while working.

THE DOMED EXHIBIT a convention centre which is an exhibit in itself SITE LOCATION SITE AREA YEAR SOFTWARES USED COLLABORATOR
IICC, Sector 25, Dwarka 5 Acres Semester 6, 2020-21 Autocad, Sketchup, Enscape, Photoshop, Illustrator Indiviual
You must design a convention centre which represents INDIA. Being at such a prestigious site, the centre should be efficient and symbolic. Okay! India has such varse diversity, lets use that. Also, these buildings must be legible for the common man, as they are the users!
The Domed Exhibit is a convention centre which is an exhibit in itself. As a convention centre should represent its country and be sustainable in the MICE Industry, The Domed Exhibit is equipped with all. It accomodates an auditorium, multiple conference halls, meeting halls, a grand ballroom, offices, foodcourt, amphitheatre, Retail space and a digital art gallery.
LEGIBILTY? Complex floor plans can be difficult to read for a layman.
Designed features of the environment aid people in creating an effective mental image
? ?
STAGE 1
STAGE 2
The whole site is considered as a built mass. The maximum height permissible for the site is 45metres. Thus, maximum 11 floors can be built.
Considering the approach road, which is the 80m wide Dwarka Expressway, the edge is champhered to increase the legible surface area.
STAGE 4
STAGE 3
The dome, which is an exhibition cum retail area is located on the North side. A roof taking the shape of the built is added shading the ballroom on top floor.
Auditorium is made of light roofing material, upto 4 floors. A cutout on the north side is made to increase diffuse light.

The domed exhibit is cladded with cement tiles. As the concepts transits from cultural showcase to sustainable in mice industry, the facade transits from cement tiles to glass windows. The fabric culture of india was soon taken over by western culture. But india being the second largest textile industry in the world, there is a need to cherish indian culture. Tensile fabric is used on the facades as louvers. Cloth installations all over the convention centre cherish the culture. Bringing from the past, plastered brick walls aree generally used in the convention centre.
VERTICAL WINDOWS ON THE SOUTHWEST FACADE Vertical windows at an angle of 45 degrees is provided on the south west facade. Verical windows act as vertical louvers and protects from the harsh west sun, while provided daylight for the maximum time of the day. The glass used is low e glass to reduce the heat gain from the south side.

The Dome’s distinctive form lets it standout from the rest of iicc and makes it rememberable. It offers two physically disconnected yet visually connected Experiences at the same time. It remains partially shaded from the south side of the dome, at all times. Its circular plan gives a view of all activities at all times. A gentle sloped ramp allows a visitor to enjoy the exhibition without confusion. While the Pathway is in the form of a 5metre wide ramp, the display space is in the form of flat steps. Underneath the exhibition ramp lies an amphitheatre which can be accessed from the ground level of IICC site. It can be used for events like theatre plays, retail, Organising open conventions, haats and also exhibitions. Hot air escapes the dome through the funnel
Ribbed Glass Dome
With a diameter of 60 metres, the ribbed glass dome stands out in the whole iicc site. It creates an interesting form which allows a person to see all activities at all times from all places inside the dome.
Cool air with the help of evaporative cooling
Ramp of Slope 1:36
With a width of 7 metres, a slope runs from the third level to the first level of the convention centre. It provided space for exhibitions and divides the retail area while letting it be visually connected.
Ground Level
Extension of the open retail area, the space is in form of an amphitheatre providing a large space to organise exhibitions, haats and plays.
PTFE mesh petals on the southwest side of the dome provides shade throughout the day and allows diffused light to come in and light up the dome beautifully. The petals are shaped such that the dome looks like a blooming flower. The are supported by cables. The inverted polycarbonate glass funnel in the centre allows hot air to escape the dome through stack effect while the tubes help in evaporative cooling. The tubes are connected to the rain water tank which provides water for evaporative cooling. The tubes are made of porous glass with semipermeable membranes. The tubes are inspired by creepers and hence arranges in an organic fashion.

Pune, Maharashtra April 2021 Autocad, Sketchup, Enscape, Photoshop, Illustrator Akash Katnawar, Tanya Bansal
A cafe must tell a story. It should be welcoming and accomodating. It must be appealing and attractive. What better story to tell than the story of its origin and culture. Lets celebrate coffee architecturally. The cafe must be a theatrical experience.
50+ types of beans making 500+ types of blends, being forced into one cafe, one machine. Doesn’t sound fair, right? The coffee carnival is a sign of appreciation, an homage to the multiple ways one enjoys coffee. Respecting every school of thought, it is a one step experience, providing the connoisseurs options to create their own blends; lovers, plants to tend; and workaholics, naps and strolls to lend. Better explained as a colosseum of adventures, it plays with levels and volumes. Each step honours a different country’s association with coffee allowing one to enter a new caffeinated pod, everytime. The coffee carnival is a true answer to ‘can a cafe really have it all?

The carnical area includes experience of coffee culture from different parts of the world while the pause area includes the library, private meeting rooms, sleeping pods, hands on workshop area and so on. The mezzanines are inspired by the incorporative nature of colosseums that lets a person experience coffee from all over the world while being at one place. The cheerfulness and the effervescence from the merry go round of a carnival brings people together to celebrate coffee over work, hobbies and with family, under one roof.

It aims to help and increase the effiecy of every student and teacher in the school. It is a window for the outside world to the inside of the life of architecture students. It identifies the stages of the whole cycle and aims to improve efficiency. Every space overlooks to a central courtyard which is the heart and soul of the school. It is filled with chatter and heated discussion of crits, laughter and joy of submisisons and beautiful, abstract and thoughtful art of the people. .

India ranks 30th in the world for cultural influence. Some religious places in india attract devotees in millions, and even more on festivals. Tourist places act as the second attraction for seasonal crowds. Not just for recreation, these activities hold a vital place in people’s hearts. These places become highly prone to be affected quickly in case of an outbreak or any natural disaster which affect many lives simultaneously and hinder on a global scale.

Tourist influx in haridwar ranges from 1 lac to 25 lac per month depending on the hindu calender. No proper arrangements are made for the devotees because of the varying influx which causes a lot of chaos and results in conflicts at times of high influx. LOW

The bus terminal design derives it's concept from lord shiva who is notable for adopting various incarnations such as bhairav and ashwathama avatar, to preserve and protect dharmic principles whenever the world is threatened with evil, chaos, and destructive forces. In the same way the design adapts itself into various flexible forms to fulfill the need of the hour during any pandemic, calamity or over-crowding. The design, similar to lord shiva's incarnations, changes its function and form to tackle the scenario while serving its primary function.

HONEYCOMB CORE They have high strength and are lightweight. They are the major load bearer of the module.
Seating used as hospital beds
Openable panels mark the facade of the building. The main panel is attached to the wall via suspension cable. When in use ,main the panel opens perpendicular to wall , then unfolds even further on both sides and acts as an extension for the existing floor. As India houses a large number of significant places with seasonal crowd, this module can be installed in any existing structure without any major changes . The food court has 348 seats so passengers can also wait for the bus there and not over crowd the waiting areas. A pair of seating can be combined to make temporary beds for 174 people when needed. These beds can function as part of a relief shelter after a clamity , or make shift health care ward for medical emergencies, or as an extension of dharamshala without hindering the functioning of the terminal on the ground floor.

Water is collected on the roof by rainwater harvesting and used to irrigate fruits and vegetables. When the need arises , both solar panels and the base can be lifted up to 3m of height. The area could be used for many purposes like hospital, day care centres, relief camps without disturbing the farm. Jack column system to lift up roof for expanding. Vernacular architecture is a style of architecture that is designed and built for the needs of people, with locally available materials, reflecting upon the culture of the place. Vernacular architecture is specific to a region and climate. In theory, a vernacular building is built without the guidance of a professional, like an architect. Thus, vernacular architecture is cost-effective, climate-responsive, modest, sustainable, and a reflection of the culture of the place. Kerala prides itself for being the flag bearer for not just how a culture can respect its past, but also march forward with growth & progress as well. Kerala’s vernacular architecture, which is still heavily practiced throughout Kerala and some of south India, is one such inspiration for all. It is in striking contrast with the Dravidian Architecture followed in other parts of South India and is strongly influenced by Indian Vedic architectural science (Vastu Shastra).
In all phases of our education, we’ve heard and realized the reality within the saying ‘Rome wasn’t inbuilt a day. Architects always progress in their design step-by-step, reviewing, changing, and improvising whenever. The role of architects and their work in shaping communities has been much debated over the years. And though it’s since been proven that its influence isn’t as direct and complete as once thought, there’s little question that architecture influences communities in different ways. Similarly, architecture may not have a social impact on the world in one single moment, but it surely has the power to influence the surroundings, little by little, every day. From changing the smallest element in design to shaping and designing large spaces, architects find out the ideas of moulding society in different
