Apostolos Kleitsiotis is this season’s Precious Talent. He was born in Alexandroupoli, Greece. His inclination and love for painting, lead him to the art of jewellery. He studied jewellery design and crafting in MOKUME-Thessaloniki School and graduated in 1994. His collections are sold all over Greece and abroad since 1994, and he established his current workshop in 1997 in his hometown. Apostolos works with sterling silver and gold 750°, set mainly with precious stones. His work is based on motifs and forms found in nature, Greek antiquity, Byzantine era and with inspirations also derived from music, cinema and painting. There is a constant effort on finding ways to visualise or rather to shape abstract notions like love, affection, tenderness, passion. His creative philosophy is that the trace of the artist’s hand must be evident, reflecting his deference to each material’s uniqueness without trying to alter but rather harnessing his natural look. For his recent creations, he uses oxidized silver combined with gold. A special technique is applied which accentuates in a particular way the material’s qualities resulting in a crystalline look over time, and is established as a recognizable style of his work. In Apostolos work, it is evident that the inspired and imaginative design takes advantage of an experienced and skilful goldsmith. Even though his designs follow strict rules of geometric harmony, the use of organic shapes, give a lively, delicate feel and the resulting jewellery are characterized by lightness, motion, originality and finesse.

Apostolos Kleitsiotis est un créateur grec de bijoux précieux, spécialisé dans les pierres précieuses et semi-précieuses. Ses créations originales subliment la qualité des métaux précieux et mixent savoir-faire hellénique traditionnel et style contemporain. Apostolos est le Talent Précieux de la saison. A découvrir dans le Precious Village. Qu’est-ce qui vous a donné envie de lancer votre marque éponyme ? Mon style est plus mature et il a énormément évolué, mais depuis mes débuts et mes premières expérimentations au sein de l’école de bijoux, j’ai toujours la même quête : offrir à mes clients des créations spéciales, originales et uniques. Donner mon nom à une marque qui représente mon travail est donc venu naturellement.

Quelles techniques utilisez-vous ? Je travaille essentiellement avec de l’or 750 et de l’argent sertis de pierres précieuses. Dans mes créations récentes, l’argent est oxydé et combiné avec de l’or. J’utilise une technique qui accentue d’une façon particulière la qualité du matériau naturel, lui conférant un aspect très cristallin. Je crois vraiment que la patte de l’artiste réside dans sa capacité à capter l’essence de chaque matériau. Je recherche toujours l’harmonie géométrique et c’est très visible dans mes dessins. Je mise souvent sur des formes organiques, pour donner un aspect vivant et délicat à mes créations.
What are your sources of inspiration? They largely come from nature, antiquities, music, film and painting. I constantly strive to transpose concepts as abstract as love, affection, tenderness and passion into images and shapes. Who are your muses? It’s impossible for me to design or work on a piece without music. So you could say that my muses are jazz, classical music and rock.
Quelles sont vos sources d’inspiration ? Elles proviennent essentiellement de la nature, des antiquités, de la musique, du cinéma et de la peinture. C’est un effort constant de transposer en image et en forme des notions aussi abstraites que l’amour, l’affection, la tendresse ou la passion.
What’s the greatest compliment you have received? An actor and his girlfriend had wanted to meet me for a long time and finally did so at a trade show. Although I don’t usually accept private commissions, he asked me earnestly to design an engagement ring for his girlfriend. Not only was it a compliment, it also led to a whole new line of jewellery!

How did your brand come about? My style is more mature now and has changed enormously, but ever since I started out and began experimenting at jewellery school, I’ve always had the same goal: to offer my customers creations that are special, original and unique. So giving my name to a brand that represents my work came naturally.

What techniques do you use? I work mainly with 18 karat gold and silver set with precious stones. My recent designs combine oxidised silver with gold. I use a special technique to highlight the quality of the natural material, giving it a crystalline appearance. I truly believe that artists make their mark through their ability to capture the essence of every material. I always seek geometric harmony and this is very clear in my designs. I often focus on organic forms to bring my pieces to life, creating a delicate look.
Qui sont vos muses ? C’est impossible pour moi de dessiner ou de travailler sur un bijou sans la présence de la musique. On pourrait donc dire que mes muses sont le jazz, la musique classique ou le rock. Quel est le plus beau compliment qu’on vous ait fait ? Un acteur et sa petite amie ont longtemps cherché à me rencontrer et ils m’ont finalement croisé sur un salon. Même si je ne prends pas de commande de particulier, il m’a supplié de créer la bague de fiançailles de sa petite amie. Pour moi, cela a non seulement été un compliment, mais aussi une source de motivation pour créer une nouvelle ligne de bijoux.

Der Sohn Apolls und gefeierte Sänger, Orpheus, der in die Unterwelt untertaucht, um seine geliebte Frau zurück ins Leben zu bringen, begleitet den griechischen Designer in seiner täglichen Arbeit. Apostolos Kleitsiotis ist fasziniert von der Kraft der Liebe und der Musik, die diese berühmte Sage vermittelt. Der Tragekomfort ist nahtlos in das Design integriert, während Luxus ohne Übertreibung vermittelt werden kann. inWiefern Wirkt sich die Wirtschaftliche krise ihres landes auf ihre arbeit aus? APOSTO LOS K LE ITSI OTIS Die Liebe zur Malerei hat Apostolos Kleitsiotis zur Schmuckkunst gefurt und so geht es dem Schmuckdesigner und Kunsthanwerker aus Thesaloniki auch darum, die Spuren der handwerkluchen Prozesse im Schmuck sichtbar werden zu lassen. Ästhetische Anleihen findet er sowohl in der Natur als auch in der griechischen Antike und dem byzantinischen Zeitalter. Sein filigraner Schmuck ist meist aus Sterlingsilber und 750 Gold gearbeitet.

In den unkonventionellen Schmuckdesigns des Griechen Apostolos Kleitsiotis, verschmelzen antike griechische Tradition und zeitgenössischer Sinn für Stil und Eleganz. Gold, Silber und Edelsteine fügen sich zu originellen Kreationen zusammen und strahlen zurückhaltenden Luxus aus. Für den Schmuckdesigner ist die Musik eine ständige Inspirationsquelle und so entsteht keines seiner Stücke ohne sie. Die nicht immer unkomplizierten Entwürfe von Apostolos Kleitsiotis werden dann in der eigenen Werkstätte von einem Team erfahrener Goldschmiede umgesetzt. Dabei ist es dem Designer wichtig, dass der Schmuck nicht nur dekorative Zwecke erfüllt, sondern auch die Visualisierung eines Gefühls oder einer Erinnerung ist. Ständig arbeitet er daran, abstrakte Begriffe wie Liebe, Zärtlichkeit und Leidenschaft noch besser in seinen Designs umzusetzen: „Es ist ein tolles Gefühl, dass ein feiner Schmuck von mir eine Erinnerung darstellt, einen wichtigen intimen Moment einer Person.“ Beim Entstehungsprozess wird auch immer auf das Material Rücksicht genommen: „Es gibt einen bewussten Respekt für die verwendeten Materialien. Diese werden so behandelt, dass ihre natürlichen Eigenschaften nicht verändert oder verschleiert werden, sondern durch die Bearbeitung hervorgehoben werden.“ Apostolos Kleitsiotis’ kunstvolle Schmuckobjekte sind jährlich auf diversen europäischen Messen zu entdecken wie der Inhorgenta Munich oder der BIJORHCA Paris und nun erstmalig auch auf der Summer 2018 JA New York Jewelry Show in den USA.

Η μόδα και το κόσμημα ένωσαν πριν από λίγες μέρες τις δυνάμεις τους για έναν καλό σκοπό! Τα φορέματα του οίκου Oscar de la Renta και τα κοσμήματα του Απόστολου Κλειτσιώτη «πρωταγωνίστησαν» σε μια ξεχωριστή εκδήλωση που διοργάνωσε το παράρτημα Θεσσαλονίκης του Πανελλήνιου Αθλητικού Σωματείου Γυναικών «ΚΑΛΛΙΠΑΤΕΙΡΑ». Στην κατάμεστη αίθουσα του ξενοδοχείου Grand Hotel Palace, η επίδειξη μόδας εντυπωσίασε. Φορέματα του οίκου Oscar de la Renta σε υπέροχα χρώματα, με κεντήματα, πέρλες και ιδιαίτερες δαντέλες, από τη συλλογή για την 'Άνοιξη και το Καλοκαίρι συνδυάστηκαν αρμονικά με κοσμήματα από οξειδωμένο ασήμι και χρυσό, πλεγμένα με ρουμπίνια και διαμάντια, όλα, από τη συλλογή του «Apostolos jewellery» για το 2017 και χάρισαν στο κοινό ένα μοναδικό θέαμα. Την εκδήλωση τίμησαν με την παρουσία τους, η Γενική Πρόξενος της Αμερικής στη Θεσσαλονίκη, Rebecca A. Fong, η Ολυμπιονίκης και Αντιπεριφερειάρχης Βούλα Πατουλίδου, καθώς και οι ολυμπιονίκες Τασούλα Κελεσίδου, Πόλυ Σαρέγκου και Πόπη Ουζούνη. Στο show συμμετείχε ως μανεκέν η Ολυμπιονίκης Πηγή Δεβετζή.
