Oyster Banks
Project Oyster bar | Client -- | Area ? m2 | Location Copenhagen | Year 2012 | Status Idea proposal
Copehagen Oyster Banks combine urban food production, and serving with waterfront leisure facilities in one structure. Like many other harbors Copenhagen harbor is undergoing a transformation from industrial harbor to the mixed use culture and leisure harbor. Today you can swim in the harbor and eat the fish you catch here. We propose to celebrate the new clean waters and sustainable development with maritime food production in the harbor in the shape of an oyster farm. Local food production combined with local consumption and leisure facilities presents a new paradigm of integration creating value on many levels.
Oysters can be grown in a basket of 60x60x10 cm. Each basket can hold between 80 and 100 oysters
8
The baskets hang in layers on vertical suspenders.
Suspenders are installed in modules of 6 meters accommodating up to 70 - 80,000 oysters.
Because oysters are filter feeders, they actually clean the water, encouraging more light and the resultant growth of ocean greenery and increase in oxygen levels. An adult oyster can clean up to 150 litres of water in a day.
Each module is constructed as a floating pontoon covered with wooden deck, as a floating bridge.
The wooden deck can be dismantled into smaller parts so that each suspender can be inspected.
By interconnecting multiple modules, we create a platform for leisure activities.
9
Urban life Besides the production of raw oysters, Oysters Banks can become a destination in the city and an icon for local food production and urban life by the water. Food production can be linked to the sale, serving and eating, bathing, learning facilities for school service and boat/kayak rental etc. Oyster production could, for example, connect the following modules:
10
Serving and dining
Sundeck
Outdoor bar for preparation of oysters, courses and serving.
Kayak rental, water sports and marina berths.
Dining place and furniture.
Protected bathing facilities.
Indoor functions for kitchen, administration, training or serving.
Glass wall with stairs where one can see the production of oysters and fish under water.
Placemaking By connecting production modules with modules for cooking, serving, teaching and bathing, it provides insight to the oyster production and eco-knowledge that gives residents, visitors and others interested in the city the opportunity to watch, learn and relate to oyster production as an integral part of the city and harbor life, entertainment, and green attraction value.
Oyster banks can be located in other cities besides Copenhagen, becoming a part of them.

Livsrum Cancer Counselling Centre 1st prize in a pre-qualified competition
12
Project Livsrum Cancer Counselling Centre | Client Danish Cancer Society, Realdania | Collab. Hoffmann, Lyngkilde A/S | Area 750 m2 Location NĂŚstved, Denmark | Year 2012 | Status 1st prize, finished in March 2013
Livsrum Cancer Counselling Centre The centre is designed as a cluster of seven small houses around two green outdoor spaces. Each house has its own specific function and together they form a coherent sequence of different spaces and functions such as a library, kitchen, conversation rooms, lounge, shops, gym, and wellness facilities. The house offers a wide range of different rooms for informal advice, therapy and interaction with a focus on the users’ comfort and wellbeing. A varying roof height and materials used means that the building will have its own unique architectural character that clearly distinguishes it from the surrounding hospital buildings. With the location of the cancer counselling centre close to the hospital’s cancer ward, it is set for a closer collaboration between hospital staff and the Danish Cancer Society.

Carlsberg Station Area The Carlsberg Station Area is the first phase of the major development of the Carlsberg City in Copenhagen. The Station Area consists of 80.000 m2 mixed use development including educational buildings, shops, offices, housing and a 100 m high dwelling tower and a 30.000 m2 underground parking. The building complex connects the former industrial site of Carlsberg with the classic Copenhagen block structure in a highly varied series of buildings, façades and vibrant urban spaces. The competition took place as a series of workshops at which the participating teams showed sketches, working models, presentations, films and diagrams about the way the teams were organised and their architectural ideas for the project.

Project Music Plaza | Client Municipality of Copenhagen | Collab. Witraz and Niras | Area 3000 m2 | Location Copenhagen, Denmark | Year 2008 | Status 1st prize, under construction, expected to be finished 2013
The Music Plaza will become Copenhagen’s new venue for music, culture, events and city life. The project brings together the existing facilities, institutions and activities to a new and fully integrated destination. The project consists of three strategic levels; a homogenous ground surface - the floor, with three scenes defines the space and connects to existing facilities, a new roof creates a covered outdoor event space and becomes the new landmark of the Music Plaza, and transformations of existing buildings allows for new connections between the indoor- and outdoor activities.

Project Playbar | Client -- | Collab. Sadolin & AlbĂŚk | Area 2.200 m2 | Location In a city | Year 2010 | Status Idea proposal
Playbar Playbar combines a playground and café, because there are virtually no places in town where this combination exists. The Playbar hosts a café located in the middle of a playground, creating a synergy and a location for grown ups and their kids. Playbar offers adult guests to socialize and hang out in a green oasis in the middle of the city while their kids use the playground with plenty of room to play and excersise with their children. Playbar serves as an icon for Copenhagens model for urban life. It draws together and illustrates key Copenhagen core values such as children’s culture, innovative use of recreational urban space in a grip that strengthen Copenhagen’s profile with a sustainable and child-friendly environment.

Project Science City | Client Eksperimentariet | Collab. Arkitema, 2+1, Buro Happold, WeissWallner | Location Copenhagen | Area 20.000 m2 | Year 2010 | Status Competition proposal
Experimentarium Science City in Copenhagen The Science Centre Experimentarium is situated in an old bottling hall in Tuborg Havn, Copenhagen. However they have outgrown the existing facilities and needs the double amount of square meters already accessible. So how can we transform and extend the old bottling hall into a playful and adventurous frame for an innovative Science Centre? Using the oversized concrete structure in the existing bottling hall we can extend the building by building upwards. We see the combined functions as a ‘mini city’ of science when joined together at the site. All functions are wrapped around a continuous exhibition space – an interactive playground for learning and exploring science.

The Visitors Centre in Hareskoven offers a wide range of different functions for the many visitors to the forest. The location of the building, on a hilltop in the middle of the beautiful beech forest has inspired this landscape shaped building, carved out of forest ground and thus blending with the surrounding landscape. The roof surface is imagined as an addition to the hill on which it is located, and gives visitors the opportunity to walk across the house and further into the forest. The star-shaped floor plan cuts horizontally through the hill, which means that that the ground floor of the building is horizontally aligned with the surrounding landscape in some places, and up to 1.5 meters below in others.

Bispeengbuens Bazaar

Project Bispeengbuens Bazaar | Client -- | Area 12.000 m2 | Location Copenhagen | Year 2011- | Status Idea proposal
Bispeengbuens Bazaar Bispeengbuen is the first urban section of the motorway between Copenhagen and Hillerød. It curves overhead on bridge piers from Ågaden over Borups Allé and Nordre Fasanvej, around Telefonhuset and on to Nørrebro. The flyover was opened in 1972 and every day it is used by about 46,000 motorists. Bispeengbuen reaches a height of two storeys and passes close to several housing blocks and the area beneath the flyover is a dead zone that creates a mental barrier between Nørrebro and Frederiksberg. The motorway section was originally raised to create connections between Nørrebro and Frederiksberg but has never really achieved this purpose. With this proposal we will revitalize the 12.000 m2 space beneath the flyover and make the area socially and economically feasible again and create a visionary attraction for the neigbourhood.
