FIRST EXHIBITION FESTIVAL OF GAMES

In April 2012, EFG won a Conference Room on the Festival of Games in the Netherlands. In 2 days time we managed to realise our concept as a gallery. It became one of the busiest areas at the convention. This amazing opportunity led to many more opportunities for some of our own members and developers. Both students and companies had very positive feedback, and discussions and reactions motivated us to be ready for the next step! Rai.

"Bitoon got started with David Cantolla, Alberto Piquer and me (Fernando Piquer), 3 professionals of gaming and entertainment industry passionate for high-quality games. We shared the dream of creating really enjoyable free and multiplayer games. And to share them with the most players we can reach. BasketDudes was the first concept that we worked on. It was an idea that was in our minds even before founding Bitoon. We want to build full and free gaming experiences. To create great free and multiplayer games that remain in players’ minds and that can also become a reference in the industry.

“I started out using computers when I was a kid. Back then there was no graphical user interface and no mouse, so you had to type commands to get it to do anything at all. I thought everyone in the game industry could program. I remember being shocked when I found out that you could be a game designer who didn’t program.

“Our main source of inspiration for Awesomenauts are

Gijs Hermans, Lead Artist old school Sunday morning cartoons like: Earthworm Jim, Bionic Six, Mask, Galaxy Rangers etc. We also are big fans of the guys from creaturebox.com. Generally we take inspiration from lots of things, this can be a Disney movie or a movie like 300, sites like conceptart.org, a museum or just a walk in the city. Each of us also brings his own inspirations which get combined into the Ronimo style.

DEFEATING THE THEME PARK Game plotlines have gotten complicated.

We've come a long way from "the Princess has been kidnapped, go rescue the Princess". The Super Nintendo acquired a pile of RPGs with complicated plotlines, the gaming industry had a brief but ill-fated flir tation with liveaction directing, and we've attempted all sor ts of curious branching plotlines and fully explorable worlds.

A brand new event popped up in The Netherlands this week and this one might be extremely interesting for both students and amateurs alike.
