The Board of AFS Czech Republic has changed its leadership. After Eva Vitkova stepped down as Chair of the Board, Lukas Jandac was elected to become the new Chair at the Board meeting on Sunday 7 October. Eva Vitkova, a returnee from Norway, has contributed to the development of AFS in the Czech Republic as a key volunteer, chapter president, Board member and Chair. Although she has resigned from the position of the Chair, she is still a member of AFS CZE Board. Eva will move to New York to become part of the Intercultural Learning department at the office of AFS International. The new Chair, Lukas Jandac, has been an active member of the Board for three years, serving as the Vice-Chair in the past year. He started his AFS experience 7 years ago as a local volunteer and throughout the years extended his volunteer engagement to the national level, where he has been mostly focusing on Branding, Marketing and IT.

Internship at EFIL – an immersion on European Citizenship and Advocacy! EFIL is recruiting 1 intern for an internship for a period of 3-6 months between January and June 2013. EFIL’s policy is to recruit interns that are able to cover the costs of their internship through a European grant (EVS, Leonardo, Erasmus) or through national public or private scholarships. According to the period and length of the internship, the main task of the intern will be to assist the Advocacy, Project and Programme Co-ordinator in the organisation and management of the training on ECTP for national volunteers, and/or of the training on European Advocacy for EFIL’s Pool of Representatives. If you are interested or need more information, please contact Paul Claes: paul.claes@afs.org

Education, Training and Youth Forum European policy in dialogue with national representatives from governments and civil society

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM

The Forum provided the space for European institutions to express their positions on the Education, Training and Youth policy of the EU, and especially on the new programme ‘Erasmus for All’. In particular, the European Commission underlined its position – still anchored to the legislation proposal they issued in November 2011 – and consulted during workshops with the participants regarding the policy priorities and programme actions that the new funding programme should focus on. You can watch the main speeches in web streaming: http://engage.vevent.com/ index.jsp?eid=1691&seid=40

Our AFS representatives had an immersion in the EU jargon and dynamics, and were able to network with representatives from the ministries in their countries, as well as with other civil society organisations. We hope this event initiated fruitful cooperations and that next year more representatives from the EFIL network will be able to join the next Forum! For more information and background documents, please visit http://www.eucis-lll.eu/events/et-forums/ or contact Elisa at elisa.briga@afs.org.
