سورٌا تراجع مبٌعات شركة بوٌنغ األمرٌكٌة للطٌران إلى أدنى مستوى لها فً عقود

Qatar Airways launches codeshare with Deutsche Bahn
Qatar Airways announced a codeshare partnership with Deutsche Bahn (German railways), offering Qatar Airways travelers seamless connection to and from eight key destinations in Germany. The codeshare partnership with Deutsche Bahn will provide Qatar Airways passengers with connections to eight key cities within DB network like Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Hannover, Leipzig, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Munich, and Hamburg via Qatar Airways’ Frankfurt gateway in Germany. flynas carries 7.6 million passengers in 2019 with 15% increase
flynas added a series of achievements in 2019. Throughout the year flynas pursued its efforts to develop its fleet and expand its operations, while continuing to offer the best services at competitive prices. This echoed through the number of travelers, which posted a year-on-year growth of 15%. Bander Almohanna, flynas’CEO, indicated that flynas transported around 7.6 million passengers in 2019, up from around 6.6 million in 2018. This brought the total number of passengers transported by flynas over its 12 years of operations to more than 50 million passengers. Almohanna recapped flynas’ accomplishments that highlight its commitment to its expansion strategy and ambitious medium and long-term plans. He praised the MoU signed in June with Airbus to purchase 10 of the latest A321XL aircraft with a total value of 9 billion SAR. He also indicated that to date flynas has received four airliners from the 2017 mega-deal with Airbus to purchase 120 A320neo aircraft for a value of 32 billion. During 2019, flynas avidly pursued its geographic expansion strategy. Almohanna pointed out that the carrier announced the launch of several new and direct destinations, particularly between Riyadh and New Delhi. flynas also launched new flights to the Indian cities of Lucknow and Calicut, bringing the number of destinations in India to four, after New Delhi and Hyderabad. flynas plans to tap new international destinations including Lahore, Islamabad, Sarajevo, Vienna, Batumi, Tbilisi, and Baku, among others. flynas operates more than 1200 weekly flights to 35 domestic and international destinations on its fleet of 30 aircraft.

Qatar Airways Cargo announces freighters to Osaka
Qatar Airways Cargo announced the expansion of its cargo network in Asia Pacific with the launch of a twice weekly Boeing 777 freighter service to Osaka, Japan effective 14th January 2020. The Boeing 777 freighter will depart Doha on Tuesdays and Fridays each week, arriving in Osaka on the following day, and returning via Hong Kong. Approximately 200 tons of cargo capacity will be offered each way per week, benefitting importers and exporters with increased capacity on the route. The airline has a strong belly-hold presence in Asia Pacific with 35 destinations served by the Qatar Airways passenger network and a freighter network of 10 destinations. The new destination Osaka will increase the carrier’s freighter network in Asia Pacific to 11 destinations. Focusing on customer centricity, the cargo carrier is expanding its network globally. It recently announced a major expansion in South America with four new freighter destinations Campinas )Brazil(, Santiago )Chile(, Bogotá (Colombia) launching on 16th January 2020 and Lima (Peru) launching soon. Five more Boeing 777 freighters will join its fleet from April 2020 onwards making it one of the largest freighter operators globally.

Etihad joins EasyJet’s connection platform Etihad Airways has become the latest carrier to join the Worldwide by EasyJet connections platform, enabling the two airlines’ passengers to seamlessly connect between their respective networks. The agreement, effective immediately, will initially allow passengers to purchase tickets on EasyJet’s website to fly from the 68 cities in the low-cost carrier’s European network to Abu Dhabi and beyond, via 10 Etihad gateways. These include Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Geneva, Madrid, Manchester, Milan Malpensa, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Rome and Zurich. More destinations will be added in the future, the two airlines state. The platform, which launched in 2017, is powered by Dohop’s flight search engine technology. Etihad says IATA’s new distribution capability (NDC) platform has made the partnership possible, and it plans to add more airlines to its NDC portfolio this year. “The ability to provide end-to-end booking capabilities through our NDC platform will provide customers with one-stop solutions for seamless travel with partners, whether legacy or low-cost, through Etihad’s global gateways,” says Etihad vice-president alliances and partnerships Ali Saleh. The agreement with EasyJet will enable the Middle Eastern carrier to “increase the breadth of our continental reach to and from Abu Dhabi”, adds Saleh. Vistara begins leased 737-800 phase-out as A320neo arrive
Vistara (UK, Delhi Int'l) is returning two of its leased B737-800s this month, which it had acquired following the demise of Jet Airways (9W, Mumbai Int'l) last April, as a result of a fresh batch of A320-200neo being delivered to the airline, according to a report by the Press Trust of India. The remaining seven of the nine B737-800s it is leasing will remain with the Tata-Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) joint venture carrier until 2022-23. The aircraft were brought into the Vistara fleet when the Indian government temporarily reallocated hundreds of Jet Airways slots to Air India, IndiGo Airlines, SpiceJet, GoAir and AirAsia India, as well as Vistara, in order to fill the capacity void. The airline already has 19 A320neo in its fleet, with further units expected to enter service with the carrier in the coming weeks, and replacing the returning B737-800s. Vistara is part-way through it order for 50 A320neo and A321neo, with deliveries to be complete by 2023. The carrier has also ordered eight B787-9s for its planned long-haul operations. On January 9, Vistara celebrated completing five years of flights. Its biggest operating bases are at Delhi Int'l (35% of weekly capacity) and Mumbai Int'l (19%), according to the ch-aviation capacities module. Its international services are currently limited to Singapore Changi, Dubai Int'l, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, and Colombo Int'l.

1 Gov't prepares another bailout for Kenya Airways
The Kenyan government is committed to supporting its national carrier in its turnaround strategy and forthcoming nationalisation, which includes giving it state financial support, acting National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Kanacho Yatani has clarified. “Kenya Airways is critical to the country and to the national brand, and the government cannot afford to lose it,” Yatani pledged on January 10 at the launch of the Kenya Tourism Sector Performance Report for 2019, The Standard newspaper said. “We have a plan, and the Treasury is currently looking for resources for KQ to ensure it does not collapse.” “Very soon we are going to have it done. As the Treasury, we are working on looking for resources to inject [...] so that they can continue to remain float,” the cabinet secretary promised to the travel and tourism representatives. As plans continue to nationalise Kenya Airways, the airline has been pushing for a capital injection to help it stabilise its operations, which are being held back by high debt and a first-half loss for 2019 of KES8.56 billion shillings (USD84 million). Since announcing the nationalisation plan in 2019, the Treasury has said it plans to buy out Air France-KLM, local banks, and more than 80,000 individual shareholders as it delists the carrier from the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Transport Principal Secretary Esther Koimett told the country's parliament in November that the Ministry of Transport was working with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to hire a technical expert to conduct a fresh valuation and purchase price. Biman Bangladesh Airlines eyes more B787-9s, Dash 8s Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG, Dhaka) is planning to add a further four B787s and two Dash 8-400s, chief executive Mokabbir Hossain told The Business Standard during the carrier's 48th-anniversary celebrations. The Bangladeshi flag carrier is hoping to negotiate a beneficial agreement with Boeing for four B787s previously ordered but not taken up by an unnamed Indian airline. According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, the only B787s on order directly from Boeing by Indian airlines are ten B787-9s for Jet Airways (9W, Mumbai Int'l) and six such aircraft for Vistara (UK, Delhi Int'l). While the latter airline is in the process of taking deliveries of the aircraft, the ten units ordered by Jet Airways will, in all likelihood, not be delivered given the carrier's bankruptcy and so far failed attempts to restart. In October 2019, Biman secured two B787-9s not taken up by Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou). The aircraft were reportedly acquired at very preferential prices. They started operating for Biman on January 5-6, 2020, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. Biman also operates four B787-8s. The airline is hoping to expand its international network with the enlarged fleet of B787s. In early January, it relaunched services to Manchester Int'l. Going forward, it hopes to secure traffic rights to extend this service to New York with fifth-freedom traffic rights between the US and the UK. Similar flights via Manchester are planned to Toronto Pearson. According to the ch-aviation schedules module, the only other intercontinental destination of Biman currently is London Heathrow. The airline is also studying launching new flights to Guangzhou (its first destination in China), Tokyo, Colombo Int'l, Malé, and Chennai. The carrier's long-haul fleet also includes four B777-300(ER)s. The Bangladeshi flag carrier already has three Dash 8-400s on order from De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (with deliveries scheduled in June 2020) but is looking to add a further two. The new turboprops will significantly expand the airline's regional fleet. Biman currently operates two Dash 8s but one of them is due to be retired during the course of 2020 as its lease expires. One of the existing Dash 8s is an 11.8-year old unit leased from Nordic Aviation Capital and the other is 8.8-years-old on lease from Smart Aviation. Adding more Dash 8s will allow the airline to free up its six B737-800s to operate mediumhaul routes. Currently, due to the shortage of regional aircraft, the Boeing narrowbodies are sometimes used on domestic routes without sufficient demand.

1 American Airlines Delays Boeing 737 MAX Once Again
American Airlines is pushing out the Boeing 737 MAX return to service by another two months to June 2020. This comes as the aircraft is still undergoing intense scrutiny from global regulators. American pushes out 737 MAX return Previously, American Airlines expected the 737 MAX to return to service in April 2020. However, now, the airline has announced that it will alter schedules to display the aircraft’s return to June 4, 2020. This will cause the airline to cancel approximately 140 flights per day. Later this week, American will conduct a schedule change and notify passengers whose reservations were altered by this move. Due to the aircraft grounding, it is likely that some passengers will see canceled flights and have to reschedule their trips. However, American will work with customers to rebook them as necessary. Not all canceled flights will have originally been scheduled as 737 MAX flights. To cover for the 737 MAX, American may have to draw out aircraft from other less-profitable routes to fly more profitable or busier routes.

2 American’s most recent fleet snapshot shows that the carrier had 24 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in its fleet. While the count is dwarfed by the over 300 Boeing 737s and 200 Airbus A321 aircraft in the fleet, these 24 aircraft can put a strain on some routes. This is especially true on some longer routes that current aircraft cannot fly. As a result, American has to keep some older aircraft, such as the Boeing 757, for a longer time But, with this new schedule, the 737 MAX is entering service at the start of the busy northern summer season. For American Airlines, preserving the integrity of the airline’s schedule during the peak travel season is a big deal. How will American return the 737 MAX to service? Returning the 737 MAX to the skies is a delicate act. Very few aircraft, in recent memory, have received such intense public scrutiny. And, as the 737 MAX grounding continues and more issues are brought to the center, airlines will have to engage customers to fly on the 737 MAX. In the press release, American highlighted a gradual return of the MAX to customer service. This will give the airline some time to ensure that all of the MAX aircraft receive the necessary upgrades per FAA and other regulatory agency guidelines. Even before the 737 MAX flies commercially for American, the Dallas-based airline will run flights on the 737 MAX for American team members and invited guests. Overall Airlines are continuing to feel the crunch of the 737 MAX grounding. As the busy summer season draws nearer, airlines are anxiously eyeing whether or not the 737 MAX will be certified before then. If the type remains out of service for the summer, this could lead to reduced capacity across airline networks and lead to an increase in fares.
