شهد مطار القاهرة الدولى صباح الٌوم الجمعة تأخر إقالع 6رحالت دولٌة عن المواعٌد المقررة لها بجدول التشغٌل وذلك بسبب أعمال الصٌانة وظروف التشغٌل. وقالت مصادر مالحٌة بمطار ان رحلتً الخطوط نسما 170المتجهة إلى جدة 120 ،المتجهة إلى تبوك ورحلة الخطوط العربٌة للطٌران 9621المتجهة إلى الشارقة تأخرتا عن المواعٌد المقررة لهما بجدول التشغٌل وذلك بسبب أعمال الصٌانة. واضافت المصادر أن رحلة الخطوط الخطوط العمانٌة 401المتجهة إلى مسقط ،ورحلة الخطوط المغربٌة 273المتجهة الى كازابالنكا ،ورحلة الخطوط المصرٌة العالمٌة 5340المتجهة مدرٌد تأخرت عن المواعٌد المقررة لهم بجدول التشغٌل وذلك بسبب ظروف التشغٌل.

Etihad Airways has posted its best December operational ontime performance results since 2010 In 2018, the airline recorded network punctuality of 82 per cent for flight departures and 84 per cent for arrivals – results that place Etihad Airways as one of the most reliable and punctual airlines in the world for 2018. OTP for departures at the airline’s Abu Dhabi hub was 80 per cent, and 85 per cent for arrivals. Across its network, the airline completed 99.7 per cent of flights as scheduled in 2018. Mohammad Al Bulooki, Chief Operating Officer, Etihad Airways, said: “Etihad is pleased to have recorded these strong on-time performance figures for 2018. The results across both our hub and network are a testament to our continued focus on safe and punctual operations. Equally pleasing is that in December 2018, Etihad achieved its best OTP results since 2010, a great achievement during one of our busiest travel periods.” OTP is calculated on actual flight arrival and departure times within 15 minutes of the published schedule, taking into consideration a variety of external factors including weather disruption and airspace congestion.

Delta postpones A220 entry into service Delta Air Lines has confirmed it will postpone the entry into service of its Airbus A220 beyond a scheduled date of 31 January, due to an ongoing US government shutdown that has held up certification processes. The airline had planned to operate the A220-100 on flights from New York LaGuardia airport to Boston and Dallas/Fort Worth, but will now deploy other aircraft on the routes, says a Deltaspokesperson. "Changes are expected to be fully visible in schedules on Saturday," he adds. "No customer impact is expected as a result of this equipment change and no flights will be cancelled because of [the] A220 certification." The Atlanta-based carrier had previously warned that its inaugural A220 revenue flights will likely be delayed due to the government shutdown, which has led to furloughs of US Federal Aviation Administration employees required to complete certification processes. Delta took delivery of its first A220 in October 2018 and had planned to deploy the aircraft to other markets including Detroit, Houston and Salt Lake City. Earlier this month, the carrier upgauged its A220 order to a total of 90 aircraft comprising 40 A220-100s and 50 A220-300s. The airline is among a growing number of US carriers being forced to delay plans for new service and aircraft operations due to the ongoing government shutdown. Tigerair Australia pilots strike as pay dispute drags on Tigerair Australia pilots stopped work for four hours on 25 January over their ongoing pay dispute with the airline, with more industrial action to continue over the next few days. The strike took place between 05:00-09:00, Australian Eastern time, affecting around 15 flights that were rescheduled by the carrier. Some passengers were also accommodated on flights by Tigerair Australia’s parent company, Virgin Australia. The Australian Federation of Air Pilots represents around 75% of the carrier’s pilots, and has been negotiating for over two years with the airline on a new pay agreement. The union tells FlightGlobal that it “continues to be in conversation with the company”, but is planning further action over the Australia Day long weekend of 26-28 January. During that time, pilots will refuse to fly aircraft with minor defects, which could lead to flight delays and cancellations across its network. 3 firms in talks re Nigeria's Aero Contractors privatisation
Aero Contractors (NIG, Lagos) has attracted three investors who are now in advanced talks with government agency Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), the current owner of the airline, Punch has reported. AMCON acquired a 60% controlling stake in Aero Contractors in 2011 when it took over the airline's USD200 million worth of debt at the time. Following a near-collapse of the airline in 2016, Aero Contractors underwent deepcutting restructuring. AMCON has since been looking at selling the carrier to a private entity and initially attracted as many as 19 prospective investors. The list of potential bidders was subsequently narrowed down to six, of which three have now been shortlisted. Aero Contractors operates one B737-400, three B737-500s, one Dash 8-200, and one Dash 8-300 on an exclusively domestic network out of Lagos and Abuja. AMCON also owns the struggling flag carrier Arik Air (W3, Lagos) since the 2017 takeover. Etihad Airways seeks to move Air Berlin dispute to the UK Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l) has filed a case in the High Court in London seeking to move the dispute with airberlin group liquidators over up to EUR2 billion euros (USD2.3 billion) in damages to the British court, Reuters has reported. Etihad Aviation Group's move comes in response to a lawsuit initiated last year by the liquidators in a German court. The Emirati holding said that it had invested in Air Berlin "as a UK public company" and as such any disputes arising from the project should fall under the British court's jurisdiction. "The insolvency administrator’s case has no basis and we are confident that we will prevail wherever the case is determined," the carrier said. The German carrier's liquidators responded by saying that, in their view, the Berlin court has jurisdiction over the dispute. The claim dates back to a 2017 letter sent by Etihad Airways to Air Berlin, promising to continue to support the struggling carrier. The Emirati group held a 29.2% stake in airberlin group and had effectively bankrolled its operations since its investment in 2012. However, in August 2017, Etihad Airways withdrew further funds, directly causing Air Berlin's insolvency and collapse in October 2017. The liquidators are seeking damages from the Emirati investor saying that it broke the law by reneging on its earlier, allegedly legally binding pledges. 1 AirAsia sues Malaysia Airports for $100mn in damages AirAsia (AK, Kuala Lumpur Int'l) has filed a lawsuit demanding more than MYR400 million ringgits (USD96.7 million) in damages for operational disruptions between 2016 and 2018 from Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), the operator of Kuala Lumpur Int'l. The lawsuit, which also covers AirAsia X (D7, Kuala Lumpur Int'l) claims, has been filed in response to earlier litigation brought by MAHB against the carrier group for allegedly dodging airport fees. The LCC said in a statement that the damages cover a fuel pipe rupture, which disrupted the carrier's operations from Kuala Lumpur's low-cost KLIA2 terminal between October 11 and November 22, 2016. It also covers "closures at Runway 3 on numerous occasions in 2018" and "losses incurred due to additional aircraft towing requirements and fuel costs, delays, manpower involved, flight cancellation resulting in loss of revenue and taxiing costs". AirAsia added that it filed the lawsuit because it sees the earlier action brought by MAHB as breaching the 2015 Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) Act. The law requires that MAHB and airlines need to first mediate any disputes before going to court. "We maintain that the dispute over airport taxes, which is at the core of MAHB’s suit, is specifically a matter subject to Mavcom's purview for mediation and dispute resolution. MAHB is well aware of this and prior to filing the suit, had engaged AirAsia in both oral discussions and written correspondence. However, MAHB has chosen to improperly circumvent the Mavcom Act by filing the suit," AirAsia CEO Riad Asmat and AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail said in a joint statement.

The carriers said that they will continue to mediate the dispute with MAHB but will also reserve the right to pursue legal action if needed. In December 2018, the state-owned airport operator, which runs 39 airports in Malaysia and Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen, sued the short-haul unit of AirAsia Group for MYR9.4 million ringgits (USD2.2 million) and the long-haul airline for MYR26.7 million ringgits (USD6.4 million) for passenger fees outstanding since July 1, 2018. AirAsia admitted that it ceased to collect passenger fees from its customers departing on international routes from Kuala Lumpur once Malaysia Airports raised the fee at the low-cost terminal KLIA2 to MYR73 ringgits (USD17.5) for non-ASEAN routes, matching the level at the fullservice KLIA1 terminal. Previously, the fee at KLIA2 was MYR50 ringgits (USD12). "MAHB does not provide the same level of service at KLIA2, where AirAsia operates from, compared to KLIA, which is a terminal for full-service carriers. It is for this reason that we have refused to collect the higher airport tax imposed by MAHB on non-ASEAN international passengers departing from KLIA2," the two low-cost carriers said. AirAsia also stressed that it planned to build its own facility at Labu, some 10 kilometres away from Kuala Lumpur Int'l, back in 2008. It said that at that time, it was promised lower fees by the government for the use the future KLIA2 terminal instead. Besides AirAsia Group carriers, Cebu Pacific Air, IndiGo Airlines, Jetstar Asia Airways, Scoot, and VietJetAir also use the KLIA2 terminal.

SAS to lease three A321neo(LR) from ALC
SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) has signed an agreement with Air Lease Corporation for three A321neo(LR)s that will enter into service in the first half of 2020 through 2021. In a statement, SAS said the longhaul-capable narrowbody would allow it to open up thinner point-to-point routes in the Northeast United States, Canada, the Middle East, and India from Scandinavia. SAS currently uses its widebody fleet of eight A330-300s and eight A340-300s to run longhaul services out of Oslo Gardermoen, Copenhagen Kastrup, and Stockholm Arlanda. “This is an entirely new aircraft type for SAS that is incredibly well suited to the Scandinavian market and our travel patterns. We are looking forward to launching new routes and to evaluate the A321LR in production,” Rickard Gustafson, President and CEO, SAS, said. SAS said that with this announcement, it was now in the process of deciding on the first routes and cabin configuration of the aircraft. The new routes will gradually be communicated from spring 2019.
