http://www.almasryalyoum.com «مصر للطٌران» تبدأ تنفٌذ إجراءات الصفقة األكبر فى تارٌخها بدأت الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران تنفٌذ اإلجراءات الخاصة بالصفقة األكبر فً تارٌخها ،والتى وقعتها الشركة فً معرض دبى للطٌران مع ثالث شركات عالمٌة هً بوٌنج األمرٌكٌة وإٌرباص األوروبٌة وبومباردٌٌه الكندٌة لضم 45طائرة جدٌدة من أحدث الطرازات العالمٌة لألسطول ،بقٌمة 6ملٌارات دوالر. كان صفوت مسلم ،رئٌس الشركة القابضة ،قد أعلن عن اتفاق تأجٌر طوٌل المدى لـ 15طائرة إٌرباص طراز (إٌه 320نٌو) من شركة «إٌركاب» العالمٌة لتأجٌر الطائرات؛ ومن المقرر أن ٌتم تسلم الطائرات الجدٌدة فً .2020كانت «إٌركاب» هً أكبر مؤجر فً العالم لطائرة إٌرباص من طراز (إٌه 320نٌو) مع امتالكها نحو 220طائرة ،قد أعلنت عن تورٌد 6طائرات بوٌنج من طراز « 787درٌم الٌنر» لشركة مصر للطٌران ضمن اتفاق تأجٌر طوٌل المدى. كانت شركة مصر للطٌران قد وقعت اتفاقٌة مع شركة «بومباردٌٌه» الكندٌة لصناعة الطائرات لشراء 12طائرة من طراز (سى إس ،)300بقٌمة إجمالٌة 1.1ملٌار دوالر. من جانب آخر ،تسلم وفد من شركة «مصر للطٌران» بمقر مصنع «رٌنتون» فً مدٌنة سٌاتل األمرٌكٌة ،التابع لشركة «بوٌنج» الطائرة التاسعة واألخٌرة من طراز بوٌنج B737-800 NGsفً إطار صفقة الطائرات الجدٌدة التً تعاقدت علٌها الشركة مع «بوٌنج» .وأجرى الوفد عدد المراجعات النهائٌة والرحلة التجرٌبٌة على الطائرة وأنهى الوفد إجراءات تسلم الطائرة التً من المقرر أن تصل القاهرة خالل الساعات المقبلة لتنضم إلى أسطول الشركة ،وتصبح الطائرة رقم 69فً التشؽٌل الفعلى ضمن األسطول. وتعد هذه الطائرة رقم 29من هذا الطراز األكثر رواجا ً ومبٌعا ً فً عائلة «بوٌنج »737من الجٌل الجدٌد ،فضالً عن أنها الخٌار األول لكبرٌات شركات الطٌران العالمٌة والتى تستعٌن بها لقدرتها على الوصول إلى كل النقاط فً أسواق عالمٌة عدة ،من خالل تشؽٌلها على خطوط متوسطة المدى لما ٌتمٌز به هذا الطراز من االقتصاد فً استهالك الوقود. من جهة أخرى ،شاركت مصر للطٌران فً تجربة الطوارئ الموسعة التً نفذت أمس الثالثاء وألول مرة بالشرق األوسط بمطار برج العرب بحضور محافظ اإلسكندرٌة وقٌادات الطٌران المدنى ووزارة الصحة ومنظمة الصحة العالمٌة ،للتدرٌب على التعامل مع حاالت المسافرٌن الذٌن ٌتم اكتشاؾ إصابتهم بأعراض وبائٌة وأمراض معدٌة أثناء سفرهم على متن الرحالت ،فً إطار استعدادات الشركة لمواجهة األزمات وتقٌٌم إمكانات وجاهزٌة الشركة فً مواجهة مثل األحداث الطارئة. جوا على متن طائرة حقٌقٌة لمصر للطٌران من طراز إٌرباص « »320وعلى متنها 120راكبا ،باإلضافة إلى 7 بدأت التجربة ً من طاقم الطائرة فً رحلة تستؽرق 5ساعات من الطٌران المتواصل ولٌس نموذج محاكاة طائرة ،حٌث قام راكبان باستدعاء أحد افراد طاقم الضٌافة وطلبا المساعدة لشعورهما بإعٌاء شدٌد ،وأحدهما ٌعانى من قًء مدمم والثانى نزٌؾ أنؾ مستمر ،قام مدٌر الطاقم بإخطار قائد الطائرة بالحالة الصحٌة للراكبٌن والذى بدوره أخطر وحدات المراقبة الجوٌة وكذا محطة الشركة بمطار برج العرب ،وأبلؽه بالوضع على الطائرة واحتٌاجه لطبٌب حجر صحى ،وإعالن حالة الطوارئ بالمطار ،بإطالق سارٌنة اإلنذار وتفعٌل ؼرفة األزمات التابعة للشركة وإبالغ الجهات المعنٌة بإدارة األزمة طبقا لمخطط سرٌان البالغ من مركز العملٌات وتهبط الطائرة بمطار برج العرب الدولى ،ثم ٌتم توجٌه الطائرة بمجرد الوصول للمطار بواسطة اإلرشاد إلى المنطقة المعزولة مع عمل كردون أمنى حولها وبدء التعامل مع الحالة .وبالتزامن تم اتخاذ قرار من قبل ؼرفة األزمات بمركز العملٌات المتكامل التابع لمصر للطٌران بإرسال طائرة خاصة من طراز اإلمبراٌر لنقل أفراد الحجر الصحى الوقائى للتعامل الركاب واستقبال أسر الركاب وذوٌهم بالمطار .وصرح صفوت مسلم ،رئٌس الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران ،بأن المشاركة فً مثل هذه التجارب تدعم وتعزز من قدرة الشركة وإمكاناتها فً مواجهة تلك األزمات وبحرفٌة تامة وأشاد بنجاح التجربة وفرق مصر للطٌران المشاركة وتنوى مصر للطٌران تكرارها فً المستقبل. من ناحٌته ،أكد الطٌار شرٌؾ عزت ،رئٌس مجلس إدارة شركة مصر للطٌران للخطوط الجوٌة ،أن خوض هذه التجربة ٌكسبنا خبرة ومهارة وٌزٌد من حرفٌة وأداء العنصر البشرى فً التعامل مع مثل هذه األزمات وٌسعدنا مشاركتنا فً هذا التدرٌب والذى ٌتم للمرة األولى فً الشرق األوسط والذى ٌهدؾ فً المقام األول للوقوؾ على آخر المستجدات والمتؽٌرات على الساحة العالمٌة فً مجال األزمات وما ٌستجد من أمراض واسعة االنتشار وكٌفٌة مواجهتها حرصا على سالمة المسافرٌن من بلد آلخر.

وصل إلى مدٌنة سٌاتل األمرٌكٌة منذ قلٌل ،وفد من شركة مصر للطٌران فى زٌارة تستؽرق عدة أٌام الستالم الطائرة التاسعة واالخٌرة من صفقة الـ 9طائرات التً كانت قد تعاقدت علٌهم مصر للطٌران مع شركة بوٌنج العالمٌة حٌث تعد الطائرات من أحدث طرازات البوٌنج وأكثرها مبٌعا وهً الـ . 737-800 ٌضم الوفد عددا من المسئولٌن والفنٌٌن فى عدة قطاعات بمصر للطٌران ،حٌث سٌتم عمل مراجعات نهائٌة ورحلة تجرٌبٌة على الطائرة وإنهاء إجراءات استالمها ،لتقلع الطائرة خالل أٌام قلٌلة وعلى متنها الوفد من مطار مصنع رٌنتون بسٌاتل الً القاهرة لتنضم ألسطول "مصر للطٌران" لتصبح الطائرة رقم 69فى التشؽٌل الفعلى فى األسطول بعد تنفٌذ خطة إحالل وتجدٌد وخروج عدد من الطرازت من الخدمة ،لٌصبح متوسط عمر األسطول حوالى 6 سنوات تقرٌ ًبا ،من أحدث أساطٌل شركات الطٌران فى المنطقة". رواجا ومبٌ ًعا فً عائلة بوٌنج وهذه الطائرة هى رقم 29من هذا الطراز ،الذى ٌعد األكثر ً 737من الجٌل الجدٌد ،حٌث ٌعد هذا الطراز االختٌار األول لكبرٌات شركات الطٌران العالمٌة ،والتى تستعٌن به لقدرته على الوصول إلى جمٌع النقاط فً العدٌد من األسواق حول العالم من خالل تشؽٌله على خطوط متوسطة المدى ،لما ٌتمٌز به هذا الطراز من قلة استهالكه للوقود . كانت مصر للطٌران قد أعلنت أوائل العام الحالى عن إستراتٌجٌتها التى تمضى فٌها قدما حالٌا وتستهدؾ تعزٌز وتحدٌث أسطولها بأحدث الطرازات وقامت بتجدٌد تعــاونها مع شركة بوٌنج العــالمٌة خالل فـعالٌات مــعرض فــارنبورو الجوى 2016لشراء تسع طــائرات من أحــدث طرازات البوٌنج وأكثرها مبٌعا وهــً الـ 737-800بقٌمة تقدر بنحو 864ملٌون دوالر بتموٌل 8طائرات من شركة دبً لصناعات الطٌران ،والتً ٌقع مقرها بدبً ،اإلمارات.

http://www.youm7.com الوفد األمرٌكى ٌنهى تفتٌشه بمطار القاهرة ورحالت مصر للطٌران لنٌوٌورك ؼدا كتب أحمد حمادة ختتم ؼدا األربعاء وفد سلطة الطٌران المدنى األمرٌكى tsaجوالته التفتٌشٌة على مطار القاهرة لمتابعة رحالت مصر للطٌران المتجهة إلى نٌوٌورك وذلك فى اطار الجوالت التفتٌشٌة االعتٌادٌة ،التى تقوم بها الدول على المطارات المختلفة لمتابعة اإلجراءات المتبعة لتأمٌن الركاب والبضائع. وقالت مصادر بمطار القاهرة إن الوفد تفقد عدد من الرحالت على مدار ثالثة أٌام بدأها األحد الماضى ،مشٌرة إلى أنه تابع رحالت مصر للطٌران المتجهة إلى نٌوٌورك ،متابعة اإلجراءات المتبعة حتى وصول الركاب الى متن الطائرة وآلٌات الكشؾ عن الركاب وأوراقهم الخاصة بالسفر. وأشارت المصادر الى ان الوفد استمر على مدار الثالث اٌام متابعة رحالت مصر للطٌران حٌث بتفقد إجراءات األمن المتبعة على ركاب وحقائب الركاب على الرحالت المتجهة إلى مطار جون كٌندى بنٌوٌورك وخاصة رحلة شركة مصر للطٌران رقم 985المتجهة إلى نٌوٌورك ،ورصد حركة الركاب منذ دخولهم إلى صالة السفر وإجراءات التفتٌش المتبعة علٌهم وفحص حقائبهم حتى صعودهم إلى الطائرات. وأضافت المصادر أن الوفد سٌتابع إجراءات شحن البضائع على الطائرات ،فضال عن متابعة إجراءات شحن وجبات أطعمة الركاب على متن الطائرات ،على أن ٌعقد الوفد جلسة فى نهاٌة جولتهم التفقدٌة مع قٌادات وزارة الطٌران المدنى ،لتوضٌح أبرز المالحظات على األداء األمنى بالمطار. وتابعت المصادر أنه من المقرر أن ٌختتم الوفد جولته ؼدا بمتابعة اإلجراءات الخاصة بقرٌة البضائع والشحن الجوى ،هذا فى إطار متابعة طرق تأمٌن الشحنات المتجهة إلى أمرٌكٌة واألجهزة الحدٌثة التى تم ضمها إلى مبنى قرٌة البضائع فى الشهر الماضى، مشٌرة إلى أن هذا التفتٌش ٌأتى فى إطار إنهاء الحظر الذى أعلنته الوالٌات المتحدة على الرحالت القادمة من القاهرة بعدم وضع اى بضائع على متن طائرة الركاب ،مؤكدة ان وزارة الطٌران ممثلة فى شركة مٌناء القاهرة الجوى وفرتا أحدث الوسائل الحدٌثة للكشؾ عن البضائع ،وانه من المتوقع ان تنهى الوالٌات المتحدة هذا الحظر مطلع العام القادم.

صرح اللواء محمد الزملوط محافظ الوادي الجدد ،الٌوم الثالثاء، بأنه جاري التنسٌق مع شركة مصر للطٌران لتدعٌم المحافظة بعدد رحلتٌن طٌران إضافة إلى الرحالت القائمة حال ًٌا لٌصل عدد الرحالت بمطار الخارجة 4رحالت أسبوع ًٌا. وأشار المحافظ ،إلى أن زٌادة عدد الرحالت سٌعمل على التوسع فى جمٌع المجاالت اإلستثمارٌة على أرض المحافظة ما ساهم فى دفع عجلة التنمٌة وٌعمل على خلق فرص عمل للشباب.

لٌلً عبد الحمٌد أكد المهندس هانً العدوي ،رئٌس سلطة الطٌران المدنً المصري ،أن مصر تعتبر من أوائل الدول التى وضعت نظام حماٌة للمناطق المحٌطة بالمطارات بنهاٌة السبعٌنات وبداٌة الثمانٌنات، ً متكامال مشتر ًكا بٌن كل من المشرع والمشؽل ،وٌعتمد على وٌعتبر نظام الحماٌة المصري نظا ًما المراجعة ،والدعم الفنً ،من سلطة الطٌران المدنً لمشؽلً المطارات. جاء ذلك ،خالل ورشة العمل األولً على المستوى اإلقلٌمً فى مجال حماٌة مناطق االرتفاق الجوى حول المطارات ،والتً تستضٌفها وزارة الطٌران المدنً تحت عنوان "حماٌة مناطق االرتفاق الجوى " ،Aerodrome Safeguardingوتستمر أعمالها لمدة ثالثة أٌام من 4 – 6دٌسمبر الجاري ،فً قاعة المؤتمرات بمبنى سلطة الطٌران المدنً. وأضاؾ العدوي ،أن مصر شاركت بتجربتها الرائدة فً دعم العدٌد من الدول داخل وخارج اإلقلٌم ،من خالل ورش العمل ،وفرق الدعم الفنى ،وذلك تحت إشراؾ ودعم المكتب اإلقلٌمً لمنظمة الطٌران المدنً ،كما تعتبر مصر من أولى الدول ،التى قدمت العدٌد من الدورات المتخصصة فى مجال حماٌة منطاق االرتفاق الجوى ،بداٌة من عام 2013لدولة نامٌبٌا، وبعض مفتشً المنظمة. من جانبه ،أشاد محمد رحمة ،رئٌس المكتب اإلقلٌمً لإلٌكاو ،بدور مصر الرائد فى هذا المجال، وتقدم بالشكر لسلطة الطٌران المدنً على استضافتها ورشة العمل التى تستعرض تجربة مصر، وبعض الدول فى هذا المجال ،ودعمها المستمر للمكتب اإلقلٌمً فى مجال سالمة المطارات، وحماٌة مناطق االرتفاق الجوى ،وفقا للتوصٌات الصادرة عن مجموعة عمل سالمة الطٌران المدنً اإلقلٌمً ) Regional Aviation Safety Group ( RASGومجموعة عمل ً وتفعٌال لتوصٌات اإلٌكاو فى مجال سالمة المطارات. سالمة المدارج جدٌر بالذكر ،أن نظام الحماٌة بدأ كنظام ٌدوي ٌعتمد على توقٌع مناطق الحماٌة على خرائط مساحٌة ،حتى بدأت تدرٌج ًٌا عملٌة مٌكنة عام ،2006إلى أن وصل إلى المٌكنة الكاملة من خالل معمل متخصص فى هذا المجال ،تم إنشاؤه عام ،2010بأحدث البرامج المتخصصة وصور األقمار الصناعٌة.

قررت وزارة الطٌران المدنً ،تنظٌم ندوة للعاملٌن ،لتوعٌتهم باألمن النووي ،بالتعاون مع هٌئة الرقابة النووٌة واإلشعاعٌة ،وذلك ٌوم 12 دٌسمبر الحالً بمقر الشركة المصرٌة للمطارات والمالحة الجوٌة. وتهدؾ الندوة إلى توعٌة العاملٌن بالوزارة بمخاطر األمن النووي واإلشعاعً ،وكٌفٌة التعامل معها أثناء األزمات ،وذلك من خالل أربع محاضراتٌ ،قوم بتقدٌمها متخصصون فً هذا المجال من هٌئة الرقابة النووٌة واإلشعاعٌة ،وتحت إشراؾ خالد األلفً ،رئٌس قطاع التخطٌط واألمانة بالشركة المصرٌة القابضة للمطارات والمالحة الجوٌة ،ورئٌس لجنة األمن النووي بوزارة الطٌران المدنً. وتتناول المحاضرات األربع األمن النووي ،والتعرٌؾ بالهزة ،والكشؾ اإلشعاعً ،واالستعداد ،والمجابهة لحاالت الطوارئ النووٌة واإلشعاعٌة، والكشؾ والتصدي لألحداث ذات الصلة باألمن النووي.

www.skynewsarabia.com شركات الطٌران تتجه لتحقٌق أرباح قٌاسٌة قال االتحاد الدولً للنقل الجوي (إٌاتا) إن شركات الطٌران العالمٌة ستعاود تحقٌق أرباح سنوٌة قٌاسٌة فً 2018بفضل تحسن االقتصادات حول العالم وقوة الطلب على السفر ،مع توقع ارتفاع أسعار التذاكر أٌضا. وأضاؾ االتحاد أنه من المتوقع أن ٌرتفع إجمالً األرباح 11بالمئة إلى 38.4ملٌار دوالر فً ،2018مشٌرا إلى أن اآلفاق مشجعة. ورفع االتحاد توقعاته ألرباح 2017إلى 34.5ملٌار دوالر من 31.4ملٌار فً التقدٌرات السابقة ،لكنها تظل أقل من مستواها فً .2016 ومن المتوقع أن تحقق شركات الطٌران فً أمٌركا الشمالٌة وأوروبا 27.9ملٌار دوالر من إجمالً األرباح البالػ 38.4ملٌار دوالر. وبعد انخفاض استمر ست سنوات متتالٌة ،من المتوقع أن ٌرتفع العائد على الراكب، وهو مقٌاس ألسعار التذاكر ،بنسبة ثالثة بالمئة العام المقبل بعد هبوطه 1.5بالمئة فً .2017 لكن لم تكن جمٌع التوقعات إٌجابٌة ،حٌث تشٌر التقدٌرات إلى تراجع نمو الطلب على الشحن الجوي إلى 4.5بالمئة فً 2018بعدما سجل نموا بنسبة 9.3بالمئة فً 2017بعد سنوات قلٌلة صعبة. وقال إٌاتا إن الزٌادة المتوقعة فً أسعار تذاكر الطٌران تتماشى مع التضخم المتوقع. وساهم ارتفاع إٌرادات التذاكر فً تحقٌق شركات الطٌران األوروبٌة الكبرى أرباحا تفوق التوقعات هذا العام ،وأعلن إٌاتا رفع توقعاته لصافً األرباح فً أوروبا إلى 9.8ملٌار دوالر هذا العام من 8.6ملٌار دوالر فً التقدٌرات السابقة ،ومن المنتظر أن تواصل األرباح ارتفاعها لتصل إلى 11.5ملٌار دوالر العام المقبل. وقال براٌان بٌرس كبٌر االقتصادٌٌن فً إٌاتا إنه بٌنما قضت المنافسة المحتدمة على بعض شركات الطٌران ،فإن تحسن االقتصادات وقوة الطلب من العوامل الرئٌسٌة وراء ارتفاع األرباح فً أوروبا. ومن األنباء السارة للمستثمرٌن فً قطاع الطٌران ،أن من المتوقع أن ٌتجاوز العائد على رأس المال فً القطاع تكلفة رأس المال للسنة الرابعة على التوالً فً العام المقبل.

قال االتحاد الدولً للنقل الجوي (إٌاتا) إن شركات الطٌران العالمٌة ستعاود تحقٌق أرباح سنوٌة قٌاسٌة فً 2018بفضل تحسن االقتصادات حول العالم وقوة الطلب على السفر ،مع توقع ارتفاع أسعار التذاكر أٌضا. وأضاؾ االتحاد أنه من المتوقع أن ٌرتفع إجمالً األرباح 11بالمئة إلى 38.4ملٌار دوالر فً ،2018مشٌرا إلى أن اآلفاق مشجعة. ورفع االتحاد توقعاته ألرباح 2017إلى 34.5ملٌار دوالر من 31.4ملٌار فً التقدٌرات السابقة ،لكنها تظل أقل من مستواها فً .2016 ومن المتوقع أن تحقق شركات الطٌران فً أمرٌكا الشمالٌة وأوروبا 27.9ملٌار دوالر من إجمالً األرباح البالػ 38.4ملٌار دوالر. وبعد انخفاض استمر ست سنوات متتالٌة ،من المتوقع أن ٌرتفع العائد على الراكب ،وهو مقٌاس ألسعار التذاكر ،بنسبة %3العام المقبل بعد هبوطه 1.5بالمئة فً .2017

أكد رئٌس مطار بٌروت الدولً المهندس فادي الحسن أن "المدٌرٌة العامة للطٌران المدنً تتخذ دائما كل اإلجراءات الالزمة والضرورٌة لتأمٌن سالمة الطٌران فً مطار بٌروت". وأشار إلى أن موضوع الطٌور "ظاهرة موجودة فً معظم مطارات العالم" .وأكد أن المدٌرٌة العامة للطٌران المدنً "وضعت منذ العام الماضً 14جهازا لتشتٌت الطٌور فً أماكن عدة حول محٌط المطار وسوره ،إضافة إلى وجود جهازٌن ثابتٌن سابقٌن كان قد تم وضعهما خالل فترة سابقة ،مع العلم أن هناك أجهزة أخرى ثابتة موضوعة فً عدة أماكن فً محٌط المطار ،وكذلك ٌوجد جهازان متحركان تستخدمهما سٌارات المدارج التابعة للمدٌرٌة العامة للطٌران المدنً". وفً ما ٌتعلق بموضوع النفاٌات التى تعتبر إحدى األسباب التً تجتذب الطٌور وخاصة تلك الموجودة فً محاذاة سور المطار فقد تم "تؽطٌتها بحسب الشروط البٌئٌة المطلوبة" .وشدد على أن "المدٌرٌة العامة للطٌران المدنً تتخذ دائما اإلجراءات المطلوبة لتأمٌن سالمة الطٌران وهً لم تتلق خالل الفترة الماضٌة أي تقرٌر من برج المراقبة عن أي حادث بسبب الطٌور" .واكد ان "االجهزة فً المطار فً حال تشؽٌلٌة دائمة".

Strong Airline Profitability Continues in 2018 Geneva - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) forecasts global industry net profit to rise to $38.4 billion in 2018, an improvement from the $34.5 billion expected net profit in 2017 (revised from a $31.4 billion forecast in June). Highlights of expected 2018 performance include: A slight decline in the operating margin to 8.1% (down from 8.3% in 2017) An improvement in net margin to 4.7% (up from 4.6% in 2017) A rise in overall revenues to $824 billion (+9.4% on 2017 revenues of $754 billion) A rise in passenger numbers to 4.3 billion (+6.0% on the 4.1 billion passengers in 2017) A rise in cargo carried to 62.5 million tonnes (+4.5% on the 59.9 million tonnes in 2017) Slower growth for both passenger (+6.0% in 2018, +7.5% in 2017) and cargo (+4.5% in 2018, +9.3% in 2017) demand Average net profit per departing passenger of $8.90 (up from $8.45 in 2017) Strong demand, efficiency and reduced interest payments will help airlines improve net profitability in 2018 despite rising costs. 2018 is expected to be the fourth consecutive year of sustainable profits with a return on invested capital (9.4%( exceeding the industry‘s average cost of capital (7.4%). ―These are good times for the global air transport industry. Safety performance is solid. We have a clear strategy that is delivering results on environmental performance. More people than ever are traveling. The demand for air cargo is at its strongest level in over a decade. Employment is growing. More routes are being opened. Airlines are achieving sustainable levels of profitability. Performance Drivers in 2018 Passenger: Passenger numbers are expected to increase to 4.3 billion in 2018. Passenger traffic (revenue passenger kilometers or RPKs) is expected to rise 6.0% (slightly down on the 7.5% growth of 2017 but still ahead of the average of the past 10-20 years of 5.5%), which will exceed a capacity expansion (available seat kilometers or ASKs) of 5.7%.This will push up the average load factor to a record 81.4%, helping to drive a 3.0% improvement in yields. Revenues from the passenger business are expected to grow to $581 billion (+9.2% on $532 billion in 2017). Strong performance of the passenger business is supported by expected robust GDP growth of 3.1% (the strongest since 2010). Cargo: The cargo business continues to benefit from a strong cyclical upturn in volumes, with some recovery in yields. Volumes are expected to grow by 4.5% in 2018 (down from the 9.3% growth of 2017). The boost to cargo volumes in 2017 was a result of companies needing to restock inventories quickly to meet unexpectedly strong demand. This led cargo volumes to grow at twice the pace of the expansion in world trade (4.3%). Cargo yields are expected to improve by 4.0% in 2018 (slower than the 5.0% in 2017). While restocking cycles are usually short-lived, the growth of e-commerce is expected to support continued momentum in the cargo business beyond the rate of expansion of world trade in 2018. Cargo revenues will continue to do well in 2018, reaching $59.2 billion (up 8.6% from 2017 revenues of $54.5 billion).

Regional outlook All regions are expected to report improved profitability in 2018 and all regions are expected to see demand growth outpace capacity expansion. Carriers in North America continue to lead on financial performance, accounting for nearly half of the industry‘s total profits. North America Airlines in this region are forecast to generate the strongest financial performance with net profits of $16.4 billion in 2018 (up from $15.6 billion in 2017). Market conditions are expected to continue to be strong, with announced capacity growth (3.4%) likely to be slightly less than our traffic forecast of 3.5%. North American airlines have generated more than half of the industry‘s profits produced in the past three years, but rising cost pressures have slowed further improvements. Low hedging ratios mean rising fuel prices have hit this region first and labor cost pressures have been an issue, though the expectation is that this pressure will diminish in 2018. Asia-Pacific Airlines in Asia Pacific are forecast to see profits of $9 billion in 2018 (up from $8.3 billion in 2017). The strong cyclical rise in cargo markets has been a particular support for this region, whose carriers account for 37% of global cargo capacity. Anticipated growth in demand of 7.0%, will outpace announced capacity increases of 6.8%. Passenger market conditions vary across the region. Domestic markets have strengthened in China, India and Japan. New low cost market entrants in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region are intensifying competition and contributing to keeping profitability low. But there has been a pause in competitive pressures from the ―super connectors‖ on long-haul routes as they face various challenges in their home markets. Europe Airlines in Europe are expected to deliver a net profit of $11.5 billion in 2018 (up from $9.8 billion in 2017). Announced capacity increases of 5.5% trail the expected 6.0% growth in demand in 2018 supporting a strengthening of the region‘s performance. European airlines are benefiting from a strong economic recovery in home markets, including Russia, a rebound from the terrorism events of 2016, and some consolidation following the failure of several regional airlines. The results of these developments are evident in the continent achieving the highest average passenger load factor in 2017 to date—84.3%. Strong transatlantic demand is also supporting this performance, although new market entry is intensifying already stiff competition. And an early resolution to Brexit uncertainties is needed for airlines to plan and market their flying programs. Latin America Airlines in Latin America are forecast to generate a $900 million net profit in 2018 (up from $700 million in 2017). Passenger demand is expected to grow by 8.0% in 2018, outpacing announced passenger capacity growth of 7.5%. The region will approach 2018 with momentum provided by the moderate recovery in the Brazilian economy, reasonable growth in Mexico and the weaker US dollar over the last year. Middle East Middle East carriers are forecast to see net profits improve to $600 million in 2018 (up from $300 million in 2017). Demand in 2018 is expected to grow by 7.0%, outpacing announced capacity expansion of 4.9% (the slowest growth since 2002(.The region‘s carriers face challenges to their business models, and from low oil revenues, regional conflict, crowded air space, the impact of travel restrictions to the US, and competition the new ―super connector‖ )Turkish Airlines(. Despite the challenges, there is positive momentum heading into 2018. Africa African carriers are expected to continue to make small losses of $100 million in 2018 following a collective net loss of $100 million in 2017. Stronger forecast economic growth in the region is expected to support demand growth of 8.0% in 2018, slightly outpacing the announced capacity expansion of 7.5%. The wider economic situation is only improving slowly in Africa, which is hampering the financial performance of its airlines. The key Nigerian economy is only just out of recession and growth in South Africa remains extremely weak. While traffic is growing, passenger load factors for African airlines are just over 70% which is over 10 percentage points lower than the industry average. With high fixed costs this low utilization makes it very difficult to make a profit. Stronger economic growth will help in 2018, but the continent‘s governments need a concerted effort to further liberalize to promote growth of intra-Africa connectivity.

Economic Impact of Aviation Unique city pairs served by airlines grew to over 20,000 in 2017 (+1,351 on 2016 and double the 10,000 city pairs served in 1996). This saves time for users and opens new links for tourism, trade and investment. Since 1996 the inflation-adjusted cost of air transport to consumers has halved. International tourists travelling by air are expected to spend more than $750 billion in 2018, a rise of 15% in just over 2 years. The value of goods carried by airlines is expected to exceed $6.2 trillion in 2018, representing 7.4% of world GDP. Direct employment by airlines will exceed 2.7 million worldwide in 2018. On average across the world we forecast that in 2018 each airline employee will generate over $109,000 of gross value added (the firm-level equivalent to GDP), which is considerably higher than the economy-wide average.

www.flightglobal.com Boeing focused on 777-8 tweaks to meet Qantas requirement Boeing is focusing on tweaks it may be able to make to the 777-8 to meet Qantas‘s requirement for an aircraft that can fly nonstop from Australia‘s east coast to Europe. Boeing‘s vice-president and general manager of the 777X programme Eric Lindblad says the 777-8 is the right platform for the Australian carrier, but admits that the manufacturer will have to tweak it to meet the expectation of carrying a full passenger load on nonstop services from Sydney to London and New York. ―Today we have more work to do to make that the right airplane to do that given the Qantas requirements. We also believe that it‘s pretty dang close,‖ he tells reporters in a conference call. Boeing‘s 777X chief project engineer Michael Teal adds that it is looking at ways to achieve additional range from the -8, which is nominally set at 8,700m based on a 352-tonne maximum take-off weight. ―If you look at the exact airplane that we have on paper today - which is not a firm configuration - it falls short of all of their desires, but exceeds many of their desires,‖ he says. One option is to increase the MTOW of the aircraft, which would allow it to carry more fuel in the enlarged wing. Teal says however that this would mean some trade-off in the aircraft‘s available payload. ―We‘ve got to work with them to find what that range balance is,‖ he adds. Qantas threw down the gauntlet to Airbus and Boeing in August asking them for an aircraft that would be able to operate nonstop from Australia‘s east coast to Europe and the US west coast with a full passenger load. Airbus is expected to pitch its A350-90ULR to meet the mission requirements, but is also likely to require some modifications to meet Qantas‘s needs. The carrier is looking to launch the extended long-haul flights in 2022-23. More recently, chief executive Alan Joyce has said that the airline could place an order for that aircraft in 2019. While refusing to talk about timelines on a potential order, Teal was confident that it could accommodate Qantas‘s delivery schedule. ―Given the conversations we have had with Qantas, I think our schedule that we have in place today would support the offer we have with Qantas,‖ he says.

Titan Airways (ZT, London Stansted) is planning to incorporate a maiden B737-400 passenger jet in 2018. According to the UK-based ACMI/charter specialist, the aircraft, to be registered G-POWS, will deliver in February next year and will feature 146 all-leather seats, with a 32-inch seating pitch. "Ahead of its arrival in early 2018, the aircraft has already attracted a number of ad hoc charter bookings for both winter '17 and summer '18," it said. Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), the joint venture between ST Aerospace and Airbus, handed over D-AAEA (msn 116) to the German logistics specialist during a ceremony last week. The delivery comes following the aircraft's successful completion of test flights in October and awarding of the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in November. In terms of operations, CargoFacts has confirmed the aircraft is being operated for DHL by ASL Airlines Ireland (ABR, Dublin Int'l) on a CMI basis. ―DHL Express is very excited to be bringing the first A330-300 P2F into commercial operation within our international air network,‖ said Geoff Kehr, SVP, Global Air Fleet Management, DHL Express. ―The first aircraft is scheduled to strengthen our Asia Pacific air network, bringing added capacity and increased efficiency to a market where we are seeing dynamic express volume growth." airwaysmag.com JAPAN AIRLINES INVESTS $10 MILLION IN BOOM SUPERSONIC MIAMI – Japan Airlines (JAL) has just invested $10 million in the supersonic jet company, Boom Supersonic. The Denver-based manufacturer has raised $41 million in funding to build a supersonic aircraft that will supposedly be faster, quieter, and more affordable than Concorde. JAL has an option to purchase up to 20 airliners. Since the retirement of Concorde in 2003, supersonic air travel has been but a dream. But things are about to change. The ambitious new company is shaking up the paradigm. Its initial Baby Boom XB-1 design, announced in 2016, began as a 45-seat aircraft and has since been stretched to 55 seats. As part of the investment, Japan Airlines will provide ―its knowledge and experience‖ for the airplane‘s design and the passenger experience for supersonic travel. The developing jet is expected to enter service by mid-2020s, achieving transatlantic routes in half of the time currently operated by a conventional aircraft, flying at speeds of Mach 2.2, about 10% faster than Concorde. According to Boom, the flight time from New York to London will be three hours and fifteen minutes with estimated fares 75% lower than Concorde‘s. The aircraft will have better fuel efficiency and will produce a sonic boom that would be at least 30 times quieter than Concorde‘s. Boom Supersonic suppliers are General Electric Co, Honeywell International Inc and Netherlands-based TenCate Advanced Composites. They‘ve reportedly received 76 pre-orders from airlines, excluding the option of up to 20 aircraft from Japan Airlines. The company is backed by venture capital firms such as 8VC, RRE, Lightbank, Y Combinator, and Caffeinated Capital, as well as angel investors including Sam Altman, Paul Graham, and Greg McAdoo. However, the new aircraft program has yet to announce what kind of engine will power the supersonic airliner. Therefore, the timeline on this project may be nothing but a mere projection waiting for concrete decisions to take lead.

AEROLÍNEAS ARGENTINAS: FIRST LATIN AMERICAN CARRIER TO RECEIVE A BOEING 737 MAX MIAMI — Aerolíneas Argentinas took delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 in late November, becoming the first Latin American carrier to receive Boeing‘s latest variant of its best-selling single-aisle family of aircraft. The Argentinean MAX‘s maiden flight was operated on a domestic route between Buenos Aires and Mendoza The Aerolíneas Argentinas Boeing 737 MAX 8 seats 170 passengers and is capable of flying 3,515 nautical miles (6,510 kilometers). Mario Dell‘Acqua, President of Aerolíneas Argentinas, feels ―proud‖ and ―responsible‖ with this new acquisition since it is the first 737 MAX to be received by a Latin American carrier. He remarked the airline will ―continue working to deliver enhanced connectivity and an elevated experience to our passengers.‖ Dell‘Acqua added that the aircraft delivery ―is yet one more example of the growth we are envisioning for our company.‖ In 2017, Aerolíneas Argentinas had a 15% increase in passenger traffic compared to the previous year. The significant growth made the airline put an order for 12 737 MAXs to be used on domestic flights. Later in 2018, the aircraft will be deployed to operate Caribbean routes from Buenos Aires. ―The 737 MAX 8 is a significant addition to Aerolíneas‘ fleet. The MAX will enable the airline to continue to grow and win market-share in the competitive single-aisle marketplace,‖ said Ricardo Cavero, vice president, Latin America sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. ―It is a tremendous honor that Aerolíneas Argentinas will be the first Latin American carrier to fly the 737 MAX, and we‘re confident the airplane‘s efficiency and reliability will help meet their goals,‖ Cavero stated. Aerolíneas Argentina took delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 Nov. 29 and flew the aircraft‘s first commercial flight from Buenos Aires‘ Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) to Mendoza in western Argentina Dec. 4. Aerolíneas is the first Latin American carrier to fly a MAX aircraft. The state-run airline plans to take delivery of an additional 11 MAX 8s by 2020, including one in December and three in 2018. Aerolíneas intends to utilize the aircraft on regional routes with an expansion to the Caribbean planned for late 2018. Aerolíneas‘ MAX 8, incorporating CFM LEAP 1B engines, is configured for 170 passengers. ―Adding the 737 MAX to our fleet is yet one more example of the growth we are envisioning for our company,‖ Aerolíneas president Mario Dell‘Acqua said. Aerolíneas reportedly has seen a 15% increase in passenger traffic in 2017, and a 22% rise since 2015. The airline is focusing on increased regional and provincial connectivity, part of the Argentine government‘s renewed focus on improving the country‘s air transport sector. From the two major Buenos Aires airports, EZE and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, Aerolíneas flies to 22 international destinations in America and Europe, and in tandem with its regional subsidiary Austral flies to 37 domestic Argentine destinations. www.albawaba.com 15 Airlines in the Middle East & North Africa Sign a Significant 10-Year Distribution Agreement With Amadeus Today, 15 airlines from the Middle East & North Africa have entered into a 10-year framework agreement with Amadeus for distribution services, negotiated and led by the Arab Air Carriers Association (AACO). The airlines participating in the framework agreement to date carried 110 million passengers in 2016, meaning that these airlines will serve over 1 billion passengers during the 10 year duration of the agreement. The contract follows a previous 10 year agreement with 13 AACO airlines, signed in 2008. For the participating AACO airlines, the partnership will drive economies of scale, technological efficiencies and support the airlines‘ vision for distribution in the future. Participating AACO airlines will work with Amadeus to explore how to further develop and maximise the potential of Amadeus‘ travel agency network, including enhanced merchandising and retailing capabilities. The agreement comes after an 18-month process during which AACO‘s ‗taskforce for future distribution strategies‘ carefully assessed a variety of technology and distribution providers according to their ability to support the long-term needs of its member airlines. Amadeus‘ vision, technological capabilities and innovative approach were key deciding factors. A partner with clear commitment to airline distribution, evidenced by ongoing investment and a growing travel agency network, will equip participating AACO airlines with the tools to pursue the right distribution strategy to meet their individual business goals.
