The Goals of Every Home for Christ The goals of Every Home for Christ are to put a Gospel booklet in every home in the world and to help those without an education to have a basic primary and high school education or at least be able to read and write so that they will have a “beginning” to change their poverty-stricken lives. Community Development programs, Vocational Training and Relief Assistance are also made available through Every Home for Christ overseas. The gospel literature and the community development/training programs are open to all people, irrespective of their religion, race, caste, gender or colour—everybody!

Gospel Literature Door-to-Door

Every Home for Christ (EHC) began 61 years ago in Canada and 31 years ago in Australia and New Zealand with the United Kingdom soon following. Along with affiliated EHCs from all over the world, we are working to put a piece of gospel literature in every home on earth. From Brazil to India to Russia to Armenia and finally to every home on earth, Gospel literature is being systematically distributed house to house by local men and women, some from the churches and some “Focus Leaders” and “Pioneer Crusaders” employed by Every Home for Christ. Maps are used so that no home will be missed. Special literature in the local language is prepared for hospitals, prisons, seaports and even braille for the blind, so that everyone will have a chance to receive a gospel leaflet. In 2005, just over 6 million people responded to know more. Every Home for Christ/formerly World Literature Crusade P.O. Child Sponsorship/Community Development Bangladesh Bangladesh continues to be one of the poorest countries in the world with insufficient educational facilities for children, particularly for girls. Four EHC Primary schools, 3 in Dhaka and one in Amgram (5 hours from Dhaka), are giving 1200 children from poor villages and from the slum areas of Dhaka an opportunity for a basic education and a chance for a future. School uniforms , books and writing materials are provided and a hot lunch is given each day to ensure these children receive adequate nutrition. A vocational training program in machine and hand sewing enables many of their parents and other village women to learn a skill and increase the family income. Words cannot express how grateful these families are for the many child sponsors who are making this help possible.

India Two very exciting things have happened in Anuppampattu since our last Annual Report! Firstly, our medical clinic has finally been staffed with a part-time doctor and a full-time nurse! This has been long-awaited and we are excited at the medical help the clinic will be able to bring the people, both through treatment and preventative education within the village community. The doctor attends the clinic twice a week and the nurse attends 5 times a week to go into the community to educate women in family health. Secondly, some of the women who have been through our sewing training have formed themselves into a group, called the “Lilly Self-Help Group. They have written their own contract, appointed a leader of the group, and have received and delivered their first orders to sew uniforms which brought in income of $300 to be divided amongst the women. They are now undertaking the sewing of uniforms for the Love Anuppampattu school children and also aim to take various orders from the local area to increase their income. The women are very grateful for the support you have given them which has enabled them to be trained in sewing and be on their way to becoming self-supporting.

Andhra Pradesh, India Children from the slums are being educated with EHC support and 23 orphans -14 boys and 9 girls - are sponsored at Emmanuel Children’s Home. A special thanks to EHC supporters who care for these orphans

Nepal Many thanks to the sponsors of 56 children from families in Nepal. Many are now in Secondary School, education being vital to the well being and future of these young people. Despite much turmoil in Nepal, all the sponsored children are safe.

Tsunami Reconstruction Update India The fishermen of Koraikkapum expressed their thanks for the boats, food, utensils and nets given by EHC and AusAID to replace those lost in the Tsunami, and are delighted with the news that a community hall is now to be built for the women’s self-help group, youth centre and for functions such as weddings. There are also sufficient funds to build a bridge and a primary school and Every Home for Christ has already purchased land adjoining the 101 houses that the Lions Club are building to relocate the village further from the sea in case another tsunami should occur. Eric Leach with the village Tsunami Project Manager.

Sri Lanka – Hope Village Project In a joint Every Home for Christ/International Needs effort, a new village has been built north of Batticaloa with 50 homes, like the one pictured, constructed for families who lost everything in the Tsunami. Every Home for Christ provided the materials, the people themselves were involved in the construction work and International Needs provided infrastructure such as roads, running water and electricity. It has taken a long time but this Sri Lankan community is now resettled thanks to your generous giving.

Togo There was much rejoicing in Togo this last year as the Medical Clinic was finally opened!! Staff have been employed and, as well as providing primary health care, staff are being trained to go out to the villages and educate the people regarding basic health and hygiene and HIV/Aids. Pipes were laid 5 kilometres/3.1 miles from the town and now the people have fresh, clean water for the first time.

Brazil Boats, Amazon

Day after day, week after week, year after year, the EHC boats travel up and down the mighty Amazon River, stopping at isolated communities to give medical assistance and educate about primary health. The boats are now old and worn and the undergrowth in the Amazon necessitates a different style of boat, so new boats are being purchased to enhance the work along the Amazon River.

Evangelist/Worker Support Thank you to the many EHC supporters who regularly support evangelists and workers in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Guam, the Solomon Islands, China, Spain and Israel.

Africa Food Security - Community Development The facts are amazing!! In Malawi 972 men and 573 women farmers have been trained in better farming methods and irrigation and equipped with seed, fertilizer and equipment and, as a result, 390 acres of maize, 10 acres of cassava, and 2.5 acres of groundnuts were produced in just 12 months. Before this project, these farmers were only surviving with one meal a day but now, families are eating 3 meals a day and 11,070 kg of maize has been stored for the future. Community development is a priority, so nutrition training, soap making, training in cookery and juice making, budgeting and irrigation training are included. 10 new fish ponds were constructed with 4 ponds being harvested to produce 29 kg of fish (15kg used for food while 14 kg sold). In one area goats were purchased, each family who received a goat giving the firstborn goat to another family, so that over time, many families will have the additional nutrition of goat’s milk. In Zambia a similar program, has increased the productivity and food security of 30 poor farming families.

The Pygmies of Cameroon For centuries the pygmies have lived in the forest, hunting for food and picking wild fruit.—this is how they survived. However, now, with environmental concerns about the forest, the pygmies have been banned from living and hunting there and are in a dilemma .The EHC Director in Cameroon, began to organize a farming project and now, with funds from Every Home for Christ, is equipping 150 farmers with tools and I kg of corn seed each , with some farmers also receiving groundnut seeds. In one area called “Bethlehem” the pygmies received a press to make bricks and they have been able to build houses. One group have already reimbursed the price of the tools so another 10 farmers can be helped and, as each group profits from their harvest, they will also return funds so this project can have an ongoing life.

The EHC Director wrote— ”Everywhere Pygmies are very excited to farm. They are joyful about this project.”
