ANNUAL REPORT 2006-2007
Every Home for Christ Goals The goals of Every Home for Christ are to put a Gospel booklet in every home in the world and to help those without an education to have a basic primary and high school education or at least be able to read and write so that they will have a “beginning” to change their povertystricken lives. Community Development programs, Vocational Training and Relief Assistance are also made available through Every Home for Christ overseas. The gospel literature and the community development/training programs are open to all people, irrespective of their religion, race, caste, gender or colour—everybody!
Literature Distribution “Systematic” is the key to Every home for Christ’s success as, for more than 60 years, national EHC workers have been motivating the churches to go doorto-door with gospel literature, painstakingly following maps so that no home is missed. For example, in a 6 month period in 2007, 23,879,660 homes around the world were visited with 66,794,714 pieces of literature and the daily average response was 14,431 people wanting to know more. In Africa a “heart of Man” chart is used effectively for village presentations; in Slovakia a web site and chat room reach young people; for illiterate people solarpowered tape players are used; and in many communities the workers show the “Jesus” film to enhance their presentation of the Gospel. In Australia last September, Alice Springs was targeted for literature distribution and special meetings.
Thank you to the EHC friends who support specific evangelists & workers in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Israel and Spain.
The aim is to reach every person in the world.
Bangladesh
Men, women and children in communities living below the poverty-line are being helped.
Thank you. This year four EHC schools gave 1,100 children hope for a better future; sewing classes trained unskilled women so they can earn income to help the family; rickshaw/van pullers were assisted to buy their own rickshaw/van so they could climb out of the poverty-trap and take their families with them; safe water and sanitation was provided in villages where schools exist; training in health and hygiene helped prevent disease, and a daily hot meal provided much-needed nutrition for the children. At Christmas each child received new clothing. Thank you for your support of the children and workers in the Every Home for Christ Bangladesh program.
Nepal
Education is the building block of development for a child and this year 48 children in Nepal have completed another year of education thanks to the generosity of EHC sponsors.
India Your support of the children and workers in India has made a great difference to their lives.
“Love Annupampattu” is now in its second year and is proving to be of great benefit to the village. The children are happy and progressing in their learning – even in English! Their nutritional needs are being met by a daily hot meal, their health needs are being met through the medical clinic, and sewing classes are training their mothers so that they can earn an income. The women in the “Self-Help” group formed last year worked in a garment factory and learnt to save so they could have their own sewing machine – they paid half and EHC paid the other half. Their excitement at this achievement was a joy to see. Many of the local men and women are employed in the school as cooks, cleaners, drivers, and watchmen … so the community is improving as a result of this Every Home for Christ program.
Malawi & Zambia Thank you for helping train and equip poor farmers, giving them the means to improve their own lives. In Zambia 35 villages received training, tools and seed, resulting in increased food production that will sustain them through critical hunger periods, the surplus being sold in the markets which enabled them to send their children to school. Because of the enthusiasm of the farmers to participate, extra nutrition and sanitation training was also included. In Malawi 500 farming families have increased their maize production so they now have 3 meals a day. Nutrition and health training has resulted in better health and the incidence of diarrhoea has declined. Because of HIV/AIDS awareness training, more villagers are going for testing and, as a result of increased crops, the farmers are now opening up bank accounts, many for the first time.
A group of volunteers from Australia helped distribute 3,000 malaria nets in Malawi.
Primary Health Care - Brazil Children like this little girl have received health care as the EHC boats travel along the Amazon River Jose de Messias Melo has supervised the work of providing medical care and material support for the poor , with many kilos of food, clothes, shoes and medicine being dropped off to remote Amazonian tribes who live along the river. Thank you for those who gave to provide these boats, essential to the work of Every Home for Christ in Brazil.
